It’S simple, fast and secure check out the description for more details: hey what’s up folks, how’s it going! This watch hope you guys are all doing well and today we’re going to be doing a head-to-head, direct camera comparison between the new samsung galaxy s21 ultra and the iphone 12a pro max now take a look at the front facing 4k 60 frames per second video capabilities. That’S on the uh forward-facing cameras. They both can shoot uh stills 12 megapixels on the iphone and 40 megapixels on the samsung control.

Take a look at later on in this article, but primarily we’re going to focus on uh. The camera configuration that’s on both of these two smartphones, we’re going to take a look at a couple of different photos and video examples and good lighting and poor lighting conditions. To give you guys a sense of what the camera capabilities are on the new s21 ultra uh compared to the best iphone camera that’s available on the market. So if you’re interested to see which one comes out on top all things considered, let’s take a look and you’ll hear my thoughts at the end of the video [ Applause ], [ Applause, ], [ Applause, ], [, Applause, ]. Now i just want to do a quick little summary of the performance results we’re getting out of the s21 ultra in general, it’s very similar to the alas, no 20, ultra that we tested out with the iphone a few months back. Essentially, you have a 108 megapixel main camera. It is a little bit wider than the note 20 ultra at 24 millimeters versus 26 millimeters, but it renders out an extreme amount of clarity and it’s literally nine times the resolution of the 12 megapixel iphone 12 pro max camera. And that means that not only do you have superior zoom capabilities on the samsung, but you can essentially shoot just one high resolution photo zoom or crop into it and have a very sharp image, no matter how far you zoom in just take a look at this Example of the building over here, where you see the bricks, are clearly defined. You can see greater details in the graffiti as well as what’s inside the window is super sharp and clear on the samsung versus it gets kind of blurry.

Once you start zooming in too close on the iphone additionally take a look at this park sign over here, where you can zoom into the text and actually read extremely clearly on what it says versus you do the same thing on the iphone and the 12 megapixels Breakdown and obviously when you’re looking at on the smartphone as a photo itself, it looks great on the iphone, extremely sharp and clearly rendered out, but as soon as you start, zooming in and doing any kind of recomposition and really pixel peeping you’re gon na start to Notice the faults on the iphone in terms of resolution and sharpness now, if you’re, outside in well-lit conditions and shooting stills, both cameras are gon na present. Some amazing looking shots plenty of details in the highlights and shadows, and the perk is that both are very capable kind of photography, smartphones and thanks to the fact that you can shoot raw and essentially keep all your metadata information and retain and do all the editing You want in the post production process, whether that’s going to be on the smartphone itself or using lightroom photoshop, and things like that, so they’re definitely getting up there in terms of their photography capabilities now in terms of the zoom capabilities on the samsung s21 ultra. What’S really cool, is you have two sets of telephoto camera? One is a 70 millimeter lens, the other one is a 240 millimeter lens and essentially you get 10 times maximum optical zoom capabilities on the s21 ultra versus you’re, pretty much looking at two and a half times optical zoom, with the 12 megapixel 65 millimeter telephoto camera On the iphone 12 pro max, essentially, what that means is both from an optical and digital zoom perspective. The s21 ultra pretty much beats the iphone 12 pro max by a huge margin.

You could essentially zoom in to your subject whether that’s super far away and you’re. Gon na see details that are not possible with the iphone 12 pro max. Furthermore, in terms of the portrait photography mode, i always prefer the processing done through the isp on the samsung. It always looks a little bit more realistic of what you would actually experience while using like a large sensor, dslr portrait style camera with a fast lens, the background blur or bokeh effect. It definitely looks a little bit better and less distracting, and the system is a little bit more accurate in terms of detecting your face. Based on my experience as well. The default portrait profile setting on the iphones tends to definitely soften the overall photo up in order to reduce facial blemishes and things like that. But, as a result, you do sacrifice a lot of overall details within the photo itself and the color temperatures is always a little bit too.

Warm certainly doesn’t portray the most realistic image which is more closely rendered out on the samsung. However, like all the camera modes, you can easily adjust all these settings either in pre or post production to get whatever look that you’re, specifically going for now in terms of the actual low-light capabilities in night mode. I do have to say again: the samsung has an edge up in terms of rendering out a little bit more information, both in the shadow and highlights based on the shots that we’re gon na see over here. Here we have an alley shot and if you take a look in this distant corner on the ground in the shadows, we can certainly see more details on the s21 ultra compared to the iphone again.

You could probably bring out some of these details later on in post or, if you’re shooting in raw bring it into lightroom or photoshop, or anything like that. But straight out of the box uh, the samsung is rendering out a little bit more shadow details and the colors look a little bit more accurate to what was actually in the scene based on my eyes. Another shot over here where the highlight information is better kept on at the samsung. You can see the street lamp where, on the iphone pretty much all the highlight information on the lamp is kind of being blown out. While the samsung preserves all those little details around the lamp itself and again, it’s a more accurate representation of what you’re seeing in reality. Now it’s kind of a different story when it comes to the video capabilities on the iphone at 12, pro max and based on what i’ve seen thus far on the s21 ultra, it’s pretty much the same results that we’ve got on the note 20 ultra, where the Iphone is certainly the more of capable video camera. Firstly, both cameras can shoot 4k 60 frames per second, but the iphone actually has 10 bit adobe vision, hdr video capturing capabilities, which is going to get you more dynamic range than even the hdr 10 plus certified video found on the s21 ultra. Take a look at this example that we have in the kitchen where you can see in the background where the sky and cloud formations are on the iphone.

We can see all those details well preserved and in the foreground, where the cabinets are. We can see that we have good amount of shadow detail captured on the iphone with very little noise, and that’s the key thing that you’re going to notice on the samsung is that we have a whole lot of noise. And even if you color correct the hdr 10 plus video, which you’re going to need to do, if you are shooting in that mode, to get the most usable footage out of the samsung, you are going to still notice that even in a decently, well-lit condition the Samsung presents a lot of noise and the overall details are a lot more muddied and not as well defined and as clean looking as the video coming out of the iphone, even in non-adobe vision mode. Now, importantly, if you are going to be using the 10x optical zoom function in video mode and you’re using it handheld, you are going to see a lot of rolling shutter and quite a shaky looking image, even with slight hand, motions due to the fact that you’re, So zoomed in and even though you have optical stabilization, any kind of micro movements is going to be magnified at that zoom range, especially in 4k 60 frames per second, so you probably want to stabilize uh the shot using a tripod, or something like that.

If you tend to use this function in video mode now, given the fact that the s21 ultra has the 108 megapixel steels capability, it’s uh great in terms of writing out more details for photos, but for videos. It’S definitely a downside because essentially you’re going to attract less photons onto the sensor itself, because the pixels are a lot smaller than the 12 megapixel camera on the iphone 12 pro max, which actually has the largest main camera sensor out of all of the iphone 12 Lineup – and that means the 12 pro max – is going to be a monster when it comes to low light video performance and compared to the s21 ultra, which has to crank its iso a lot higher air to get the right exposure, which is going to definitely introduce A lot more noise and kind of muddiness to the video footage, the iphone looks extremely clean. We see a lot of details preserved in the foreground and background better color rendition. The only kind of weakness you can point out is that we do have a decent amount of lens flaring happening with the iphone, but that’s kind of to be expected.

Uh, given the fact that this scene over here is so dimly lit and anything bright like a car, headlamp is definitely going to shine some flares on to the lens itself, but in terms of running around the actual image out of the entire scene, it’s head and Shoulders above the video capabilities of the s21 ultra really on that guys, that’s really definitely love to hear your thoughts in terms of which camera you guys would prefer, based on our side-by-side comparison, we’re also going to be doing a battery life comparison uh between these two You’Ll find that in the video description down below once that video becomes available big.
