Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Xenvo SquidGrip Tripod- Best Smartphone Tripod?”.
What’S up everyone how’s it going this watch. I hope you guys are all doing well. So recently i’ve been doing a lot of diy projects of this summer and one of the biggest challenges when filming these projects and doing work at the same time is uh. Trying to hook up the tripod with the camera in the right position, especially in confined spaces and awkward mounting positions, so i’ve been looking for a versatile mounting solution for my smartphone or camera for a while now and i’ve been testing uh. This thing right over here.
This is the zenvo squid grip. It’S a flexible tripod, that’s fairly compact! It’S designed to fit pretty much every style of smartphone that you can find out there, as well as even smaller compact form, factor, cameras and even gopro cameras. Now, primarily, the squid grip is designed for smartphones and the map that comes with it, as you would imagine, is fairly versatile. You can pretty much fit any size smartphone, and not only is there an adjustment dial for actually setting up a different sizes smartphone, but you can also adjust the tension of the actual clamp strength itself.
So, for example, if you want a more run and gun style shoot where you’re going to be quickly latching and delatching, the clamp from your smartphone, you can set it to more looser tension and, if you’re going to be mounting something a little bit more securely, you Can tighten this tension so it’s a little bit more difficult uh to unclamp, so it was perfect for if you’re going to mount this on a bike or a moving object where you want the smartphone securely clamped on now, apart from just mounting your smartphone, we have A standard quarter inch thread, so you can virtually mount any style of camera, but ideally something more compact and you also have a gopro mount as well. I’Ve actually used this to mount my old panasonic g7 and had no issues which is not the smallest camera. In the world, but certainly not larger, so medium-sized mirrorless camera will actually work. Fine, based on my experience, also included in the box, is a ball joint mount, so you can virtually shoot in any direction at 360 degrees with that adapter.
But the real start of the show definitely has to be the legs. The neo bendable material that the legs are made up of are very, very flexible and you can pretty much manipulate them in any single direction. You can think of. The legs are made out of this textured grippy surface, so you can virtually mount this thing onto any object or surface.
I mounted this tripod on bikes, garage door, openers outside railings tree branches, at the back of my guitar headstock and in fact the only place that i couldn’t mount. The tripod was on the back of my old lazy cat and even if i found a way to mount the tripod onto the cat, well, it wouldn’t be too exciting because she doesn’t really do anything or move around all too often now. In summary, i would definitely have to say that the squid grip is definitely a compelling option. I know there’s a lot of competition out there for compact smartphone, tripods uh, but there’s a lot of good things over here.
Uh, the design is great, build materials uh the overall mounting options, i’m pretty confident that this thing will be a pretty good asset in my creative filmmaking uh tool kit, so uh, definitely something that’s gon na be in my bag for a while, but really on that Guys, that’s really it!
