There was a second ruling last year which upheld the original ruling and now in a massive shocker.
Google is appealing that ruling because they still don’t agree. The reason this is such a big deal is that new software is often based off of existing api’s, and if every developer was forced to pay licensing all the way back up the chain, it could drastically alter the landscape of software development.
