Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “What’s In My Tech Bag? Holiday 2023”.
Hey everyone Travis here I wanted to go over some of the products that I use on The Daily or keep with me. So, let’s jump into what’s in my tech bag. First, up is the bag itself, and this is the icon by in case, and it’s become one of my favorite backpacks. It is a little large, but it has so many pockets and Slots that it makes up for its size with all of its functionality. And I personally use this B for all types of travel, whether that’s just back and forth, to work or if I’m flying somewhere.
I’Ve been using inase products since 2007 and I think they have a very good mix of Aesthetics and design. This bag has a dedicated laptop slot, a dedicated iPad slot and a pocket on top. That’S lined with microfiber, where I could put more delicate items like my airpods. It has plenty of space throughout to be able to throw anything in here, and the only negative here is the fact that it doesn’t have a bottle slot, which does not help my daily intake of water. Next is a crucial component component of what’s in my bag, and that is the 15-in MacBook Air. I just covered this Mac in a recent review. If you haven’t seen it, you should definitely go check it out. This Mac is my main primary Mac, notebook for work.
Being that this is my primary work notebook my primary work desktop is a Mac Studio that lives at my desk, and I will be doing a 6 months later review of that machine very shortly. So if you haven’t subscribed yet go ahead and do that and hit the Bell now. The 15-in MacBook Air, in my opinion, is the perfect blend of size, weight display and overall performance. The keyboard and trackpad are fantastic, as you’d come to expect from any modern MacBook and from a portability aspect.
I love how thin and light this machine is and that it doesn’t weigh down the backpack and take up a bunch of space, but at the same time, has a 15-in display. That gives you plenty of room to work now. The utilization of this machine is definitely not for the main level editing, but it can definitely pull its own weight if it had to. I would say most of the time it’s photo editing for thumbnails, doing research, watching videos or typing up a script, and it’s perfect for all of that. There are quite a few accessories in the bag that go hand inand with the MacBook Air. So let’s go over. Those first is the Logitech mxm 3s, which is my favorite Mouse hands. Down now truth be told, I do like the magic mouse for its functionality, like inertial, scrolling or scrolling left to right, if you had to but ergonomically it’s not great when you’re editing for hours on end having your hand on that magic mouse can get very, very Tiring, so the mxm 3 3s definitely Nails it in this department.
Now the 3s builds upon what was already a fantastic Mouse with the mxm 3 and adds a few extra features that I really didn’t think were going to make that much of a difference. Now my favorite feature of the mxm 3s has to be quiet, click and honestly at first, when I saw this on the website, I really didn’t think it was going to make that much of a difference in using it, but it really does and the 3 s Also features an updated sensor that tracks incredibly well. Logitech also includes an updated dongle with this mouse, but of course, because I’m using Bluetooth and switching back and forth between multiple computers, I’m not using that next up is another companion with the MacBook Air, and that is the Samsung t7 Shield. 4 TB.
This is a 4 TB, external SSD and, in my opinion, it’s one of the best ones that you can get. Not only do I use it with the 15-in MacBook Air or even the Mac Studio and past projects around the office, but I also use it with the iPhone Pro Max to be able to record externally in prores log. So this drive serves multiple purposes and it’s definitely fast enough to be able to handle any of the projects I throw at it and even record video directly to. I do appreciate its size and the fact that it’s USBC, but another thing I like about this – is the fact that it has this rubber enclosure around it. The standard t7 models which I’ve used and even going back to the T5 those drives, if you push them very hard or you’re using them for extended periods of time, can get warm, which can degrade performance in in this case, the rubber enclosure actually helps with heat Management, preventing the drive from slowing down and keeping that high performance, another piece of tech that isn’t too glamorous but is very essential. Is this Sony CF Express and SD card reader? Of course, the MacBook Air doesn’t have an SD card slot, but we do use CF Express type, A cards with the Sony fx6, so this card reader can read both of those and allow me to be able to dump the video and audio from a shoot.
The build quality of this SD card reader is very good, it’s made out of metal, and it has USBC, of course, which is very convenient when using faster cards like a V60 or a v90 SD card or you’re using a CF Express type a card. It is very fast and of course, because it is USBC, you can connect it directly to an iPhone 15 and I’ve actually had to use that on set, which was super clutch. The last accessory that’s related to the MacBook Air, which is also something that’s not too glamorous and call me old school is a SanDisk Flash drive. This drive in particular is 64 gigs and it has usba and USBC. Yes, I know I have the T 7 Shield, but that’s formatted for Mac. Only and that’s a drive that I work from this flash drive is very easy if I have to transfer a file between a Mac or a PC update a firmware on a device or plug it straight into a TV.
Now this one might be a little controversial, but the iPad that I utilize for work purposes is an iPad 6 generation, and this is the primary iPad that I use at the office and hear me out. I’Ve been using this particular iPad for office type tasks since 2019, and it’s for very basic stuff things like checking emails, count, ERS, notifications, notes, managing the Hue Lights or even router settings, and I know I could use like a 10th gen iPad or an iPad Air Or even iPad Pro, but for the things that this is used for, I really don’t need much more than this, and the most surprising fact here is the fact that, yes, this is a Sixth Gen iPad, but it runs iPad, OS 17 and since this iPad is Utilized for work purposes, yes, I personally do own an iPad Pro from 2018, which is an 11 in next, our airpods Pro – and this is a a must – I recently upgraded from the first generation airpods Pro to the 2.5 gen airpods Pro, and it’s a significant step Up these things, sound fantastic from stereo to Dolby, Atmos content, and I use them from phone calls all the way up to sitting down listening to music while working and because they’re USBC it cuts down the amount of cables I have to have in the bag. With me and they’re super convenient now something that I feel like might be a minor thing, but is essential, is an air tag and because a lot of these items are related to work, I definitely do not want to lose them so having an air tag in The bag is essential to make sure I’ve got that stuff with me if you’ve been interested in getting an air tag but never got around to it, I’ve actually had it save me quite a few times whether that’s just finding out where I parked my car or Finding out where I put my keys and this thing is well worth it now – the PlayStation portal recently came out and if you want to see more in-depth videos on that, Kevin’s got a few already. But I wanted to give this thing a shot, and I know that there’s people that love this thing or hate it, but all things considered, including the latency and what it does.
I think it’s actually pretty cool. I like the fact that this is a dedicated device that I don’t have to use my phone, my MacBook or my iPad for, and it has a built-in controller that feels identical to a PlayStation 5 controller and it maintains some of the highle features like haptic feedback And adaptive triggers, but definitely do not think that you could play competitive games on this thing, keep it to things more lowkey like a story based game or a slow multiplayer game. The last thing on the main list here is the Sonos Rome. I’M a big fan of Sonos products and I do have the full imer set at home, and I want to keep a Bluetooth speaker with me, depending on where I’m at whether I’m traveling to somewhere or I just want a little bit better sound than the MacBook Speakers, when I’m out and about this thing, is definitely packing more of a punch than its small, tiny size.
It has Bluetooth and Wi-Fi which allows for multiple different types of connections, whether that be AirPlay over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, when I’m out and about it, does have USBC, which makes the charging situation even more convenient. And it’s so small and light that I really do not realize that it’s in this bag. So if you’re looking for a Bluetooth speaker, the Sonos Ram is fantastic to fit in that Sonos ecosystem. And if you want something, that’s a step up from that you can do the Sonos move, but it’s much bigger. Now I have three honorable mentions, which are things that are honestly very boring now, first upon on, that is a microfiber cloth. I just like to keep my device is clean and Polished free from fingerprints and dust.
Of course, I don’t use a case on any of my products so being able to set something down while cleaning it or be able to set it down without having to put it on a rough surface. I can put it right on this cloth. Next is a backup pair of wired headphones, which in this case, are the USBC wired earpods. Of course, these had a comeback with how many people use them on Tik Tok to speak right directly into, but sometimes having just to be able to plug them right in, and they work right off the bat without having to charge them is easy, and I will Say obviously they don’t have nearly as many features as the airpods pro do, but it’s really nice to be able to just plug them in and take a phone call without having to worry about charging them and then last up is some extra Apple watch bands, depending On what I’m doing, I usually keep a couple extra of the floro eltima rubber bands, depending on what I’m wearing or where I’m going or if the band gets a little dirty, I can swap it out for a clean one.
So that was a look in my tech. Bag drop a comment Down Below on some of the products that you keep in your Tech bag. Thank you so much for watching this is Travis and have a good night. .
