Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Voltera: Desktop Circuit Board Fabrication”.
Hi, my name is volterra and volterra is a circuit board printer for early stage, prototyping of electronics, so the volterra v1 is a device that allows you to prototype early stage circuit designs in the prototyping stage. When you just want to know if you’re on the right track, your components are correct, and so we do that by allowing you to print a silver particle ink in order to create the electrical traces. We also have an insulating ink that we uh layer between the conductive traces to allow you to create multi-layer boards, two layers right now, but we’re scaling that up and uh you know everything is solderable and you’re ready to go in an hour from you know, a Design on your computer to a board in your hands, so the consumables for this printer will be the conductive ink that allows you to create the boards. The insulating ink that allows you to do the multi-layer effect solder paste because you can, if you’re doing a larger uh volume run. You can use this as a small batch assembly tool and just spend solder, paste and reflow on the tool as well as well as the blank substrate. So we have just regular blank boards that you can print on, but we’ll also have these amazing template boards. For the arduino uno mega and we’re going to be rolling out for the raspberry pi as well, so you can just get an idea out there as quickly as possible. So right now, if you want to design electronics, you usually would have to take your designs. Send them off to either china or somewhere local, but you’d, be paying more and it would take a lot of money and a lot of time in order to get the board back. You could etch it yourself, but that’s really dangerous. You know, we’ve been there. We’Ve worked with the chemicals and that’s not something that we want people doing anymore, there’s better solution out there that allows them to be more creative and brings down the cost of failure. So much you know a lot of the times.
You can be designing something and if you get it wrong the first time you feel like you’ve wasted so much time and so much money. But now, if it’s wrong just print out another one and you’re ready to go again. So it’s a really really good tool for educating yourself and getting new things out the door so right now our team is working super hard in order to get our uh our kickstarter units out and building up inventory as well.
So that’s the number one focus uh getting the software of finalized and getting the units out the door. That’S the biggest goal. Uh after that we’ve got a ton of ideas on you know what else we want to add to this product future products.
