Using the Cheapest Smartphone in the World.

Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Using the Cheapest Smartphone in the World.”.
Okay, one thing’s for sure we don’t get this very often. This is the Alcatel Pixy 4 and in a lot of places this is the cheapest phone. You can buy full stop. That is the cheapest phone that isn’t carrier subsidized or that is four dollars, but then it turns out to be a fraud. All things considered, I was almost expecting the phone to turn up in a plane that brown cardboard box, but it turns out it’s very well presented, there’s colors all over it kind of got a kid-friendly appeal to it, fern.

On top we’ll take a look at that in just a second and inside we’ve got instruction manual, warranty information and what seems like a case, but then you quickly realize that is the back cover, because for some reason the phone comes disassembled. Maybe it’s showing off the idea that it’s got a removable back and therefore a removable battery too, which is a nice touch. There are also some errands included, but they might as well not beat. They are really really bad all right, but the main thing we’re here for the smartphone itself, so first impressions obviously extremely light.

There’S no battery on the side, so you flip it over insert the battery get the back cover on and let’s boot it up and see what we’ve actually got here screen wise were packing a four inch TFT panel with a resolution of 480 by 800, and that Gives us the rather old-fashioned aspect ratio of 5 to 3, which is the same aspect ratio? The galaxy s2 had back in 2011, obviously side-by-side with any current flagship. The screen is absolutely dwarfed in every aspect for this brightness contrast size resolution. But the more interesting question is: how does it compared to one step up to perhaps $ 100 smartphone? So for this I pulled up the $ 100 redmi 5. A qual sisters somewhat share the poor, viewing angles off the pixie for its on a whole new level. Here this phone, once you tilt it in any direction, loses almost all of its visibility. You tilt it up. Everything looks completely grey and you tilt it more than 30 degrees, either side and the screen goes black. So this is really showing that if you did want to pay 20 30 40 50 more dollars, you can get a firm with a better display.

It’S not a case that the pixie 4 is doing everything that more expensive phones are doing, but cheaper. There are sacrifices here, but that doesn’t invalidate this phone. It’S very possible that even amidst these sacrifices, you’re still getting better value for money, because, ideally to forget just how cheap this phone is front of the phone reveals too surprising inclusion. We’Ve got a notification LED and a front-facing flash it’s questionable how much of a priority those actually were, considering how much room for improvement the display has, but at the same time it’s taking a lot of boxes. Even if the front flash is completely useless, see the thing is it works, but the front-facing camera is so poor in terms of resolution, I would genuinely say it brings new meaning to the word potato camera.

The rear camera is better, not much better but better. It has no focus ability and, of course, detail. Colors are all going to be very washed out, but for the purposes of capturing moments, does the trick under the hood we’re packing the mt6, 585 hundred and twelve megabytes of RAM? This is not a powerful phone. Having said that, the dual core GPU inside does actually handle graphics reasonably well. I found that 2d games a lot of 3d games that I wasn’t expecting to run to actually worked. Fine you’ll find you actually notice the lack of power much more when it comes to loading applications, loading screens or browsing the Internet once you’re actually in an application performance seems to be pretty steady and the UI was surprisingly slick. I wasn’t expecting the screen to feel this responsive all the animations to be this refined.

It’S not bad at all, like the alto packaging, the software feels slightly child-focused, with an emphasis on ease of use and colorful icons, but that kind of makes a lot of sense. I reckon the target demographic for a phone like this is a child getting their first smartphone for things like whatsapp and Facebook messaging, which this works. Fine, as you probably guessed, given its tiny dimensions and plastic construction, it’s not a heavy device, but it’s definitely not a slim one either. Now this doesn’t become an issue because of the phone’s fairly narrow body, but at the same time does make it feel much more.

Like a toy, then it could have if it was two millimeters thinner. I also found the battery held up, not great, but you could just about push through a day with it, alright, so that is the Alcatel pixie 4 and throughout my testing of the phone. The overarching message was this: if you can afford a better phone, if you can’t afford to spend an extra $ 50, they would definitely be worth it. You’Ll get a better display, better battery life and better performance, and if you are going to use your phone for two years for most people, that does make a lot of sense.

Having said that, if budget is really a the fact that this phone offers most of the things that more expensive ones do at a serviceable level is quite impressive, and that makes this definitely a viable option for about $ 30 thanks for watching guys.
