Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Upgrade or Downgrade? π€”.
So you sit down through the presentation. You’Re told how the OnePlus 11 is quote like the pro Max Ultra, but not overpriced, which definitely speaks to all of us right now. You get ready to buy because the price is crazy good. But, just when you do you notice that right next to it is last year’s OnePlus 10 pro at 100, less, I mean sure why not save money on getting last year’s phone, even if it’s not as good as the new one right? Well, what if I told you that in many ways last year’s phone is actually better? I know it doesn’t make sense to me either, but it’s the main reason why I felt this comparison was worth it with pocket now, and this is OnePlus 11 versus OnePlus 10. Pro every single time we talk about getting the latest phone. The idea is to upgrade I mean the word by definition, means to raise something to a higher standard companies, even use numbers to separate the old from the new. But this OnePlus 11 launch is kind of an irony. In our briefing the company told us it was doing away with the pro moniker because it felt there was no need for it pretty much signaling a full return to its roots. The problem is, once you decide to compare it to the 10 Pro, which I considered last year as the company’s best phone ever. Don’T even get me started about the 10t 10 Pro is where it was visually. Both devices looked identical almost, but there are are actually subtle differences to tell them apart. The OnePlus 11 is a hair taller wider and heavier with the 10 Pro being slightly thicker, though the numbers are pretty marginal. They both share the same exact, Relic glass victus at the front, Gorilla Glass, 5 on the back, all wrapped on an aluminum frame, so no improvements.
There also pick your color wisely on the 11, because only the 10 Pro is frosted on all variants. The newer model is glossy on this green Edition, which actually feels great in the hand, but which is a mirror to film sorry about those Reflections also feel free to celebrate that the three-way mute slider is here on both devices. Once you dig into specifications, though things get even more interesting, I mean sure the 11 has the latest Snapdragon agent too, but then both start at the same RAM. And if you go for the base storage, they both have ufs 3.1. You actually only get the faster. You ufs4, if you get more storage on the 11., they both share pretty much the same 5G capabilities and Wi-Fi, though Bluetooth is newer on the 11 and then also the newer model Sports ip64 rating, which, on the 10 Pro depended on you getting the T-Mobile variant.
So that’s also welcomed, even if we all knew that there was protection on the 10 Pro regardless. The batteries are then the same size, but then only the 10 Pro supports wireless charging. I know weird also, even if both charge, just as fast Through the Wire only the 10 Pro includes a c to C charger in the Box. As the 11 made, the odd move to include an old C to a cable, even if guys I’ll celebrate any power. Brick in the box at this point, and especially if it’s faster than everything else in the market now, once you switch into the displays, the 11 does have an edge over the 10 Pro it’s Sports, the latest ltp03 AMOLED vs version. Two though, once you dig into their capabilities, I will be shocked if you find the difference.
They both provide gorgeous colors, HDR 10 plus certification, 1300 nits of peak brightness and 120 hertz refresh rate same screen, sizes resolutions always on displays and yeah great results from the speakers overall notice. The trend, the OnePlus 11, is newer and has some slight improvements, but it’s not like if the 10 Pro is a slouch in any way. Once you switch the narrative to software, that premise only repeats itself further. Both devices are running the same oxygen OS 13. On top of Android 13, which, regardless of what you personally think, is something that I personally love. We’Ve got that OnePlus flexibility of you being able to choose so many customizations in this phone and then better taste in certain widgets, larger folders and the option for the Shelf, which you can easily disable like.
I do because yeah the point here is that this phone is the way you like it, as opposed to how other oems limit the options you can choose from, and also kudos to OnePlus 4, allowing you to unlock this phone only when your face is detected and At the same time, for fixing the spacing in the widgets, which was a problem before now, a year after the launch of the 10 Pro, I have to say the experiences impressive, this device aged pretty well in performance and battery life. It remains a great phone and connectivity and phone calls and OnePlus treated. It really well with software updates now I’ll need more time with the 11, but so far I can’t tell you that battery life went from great to Unreal. Making this easily a two-day phone, and other Essentials like connectivity, are all on point now. What’S left is obviously these cameras, and this is yet another case where things get really mixed.
If you were to look at the spec sheets, the 10 pro has better modules. Surely the 11 has newer ones in addition to an updated ISP from that new chip, but the 10 Pro in some cases has a larger sensor in a feature where physics still matter now. I did praise the Hasselblad tuning last year and as for this year, I can tell you it’s gotten better. During the day, things get interesting, they both have the same subtle, Hasselblad filter, but I notice a lot more punch in color and detail coming out of the OnePlus 11.
doesn’t matter if you go Ultra wide primary or telephoto. I like what I see more from the new phone, even if the 10 Pro punches to 3.3x instead of 2x optically, when zooming you’ll be the judge of what you prefer, but I actually like the 2x more for Street photos. I also noticed the OnePlus 11 fumbles less with dynamic range than the 10 Pro, which is odd, because that was working fine.
When I reviewed the older model last year, it’s when you dim the lights a bit that you notice those changes in Optics and processing make even more sense, though I notice some good detail coming out of both primaries, but better colors and detail out of the 11.. I can’t say I like the ultrawider telephoto in the scenario from both, but they still do an okay job. That is fine for a quick shot every now and then, but then there’s the topic of selfies, where you do have less megapixels on that 11 and the result is an evident loss in detail and and once you switch to portraits, you might notice that same trend From the selfie camera, but boy do I like these Hasselblad effects from the primary cameras and wow after much complaint? I can finally say that Rec 2020 is gone on video.
I can’t say I’m a fan of the rexus 01 being used, though, but you can switch it to 709 on your editor. What matters is that you now have more true to life colors that can be used for social media. Even if the quality of this video is not in my top five by any means given the warping and yeah selfie, video out of both phones is still capped to 1080p.
So many years later, sadly, if you’re into reels and tick tocks, both these phones are barely passing the acceptable test. So just keep that in mind. To conclude yes, this is a tough one, but don’t worry you know me I’ll still call out a winner. I actually walked into this comparison thinking the OnePlus 10 Pro was gon na own it, given its recent price drop and added perks, but I’m actually gon na give it to the OnePlus 11.. Like sure I get frustrated with its lack of wireless charging and the fact that it’s not that much better than the 10 Pro, but I do think the improvements from the Snapdragon agent 2 are worth considering like battery life is insane. So it’s not like if I’m charging it a lot, and I can totally tell the difference in photography – also keep in mind it’s an extra year in software updates.
If you plan to hold on to it seriously at 6.99, a lot of things are right. With this phone, that being said, the OnePlus 10 pro at 5.99 is kind of too good for the money while that deal lasts. I won’t blame you if you end up picking this one as well in the end now, let us know which one would you pick in the comments down below and while you’re at it follow us on social media and subscribe to our website for more videos like This one, you also follow me on my personal, handles to see me pick from a hard pair of phones.
