Twig Pencils

Twig Pencils

Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Twig Pencils”.
We live in a world of technology for writing letters, taking notes or sketching whatever comes to mind, but there’s something unspeakably great about the feeling of a hand-carved pencil. In your hand, as you put it to paper in this project by Alli Ward, have made with happy we’ll be making these handsome twig pencils they’re easy to build and they make great gifts for friends. You’Ll want to start by collecting some twigs. Don’T be shy here. It’S easy to make mistakes that will ruin them Plus, once you get the hang of it, you’ll likely want to make plenty more. They should be of a fairly hard wood and roughly eight millimeters in diameter, or whatever feels good in your hand, start with a clean end by cutting the end off with a saw place, the twig in a bench vise. So the cut end is pointed straight up towards the ceiling with a two millimeter bit drill straight down through the shaft of the twig. Until the drill bottoms out, take care to make sure you’re drilling path is straight, you’ll ruin the twig. If you get it wrong and go out to the side, take the twig out of the vise and tap it sharply in your workbench. This will help dislodge any loose. Sawdust left in the hole. Take a two millimeter pencil lid and place a bead of wood glue on it and then insert the lead into the hole in the twig, wipe up any excess glue and allow to dry and then trim off. The extra lead with the glue fully cured, use a utility knife to sharpen your pencil seam together, the bark and the wood of the twig produce a handsome layering, as well as the look of a hand, sharpened pencil.

If you can’t find any two millimeter pencil heads, you can instead bore a slightly bigger hole and use a tube from a cheap ballpoint pen just make sure to trim the ink tube before you glue it into the twig. Do you know of any great pen or pencil hacks? Let us know in the comments below and thanks for watching you you, you .
