Not only can you have it back up to the acronis cloud, but you can also select a local drive. So if I was to plug in an external hard drive that would show up having two backups is going to be the best option. One, that’s local that you have access to and then one that’s in the cloud. So if something happens to your office, that you’re in you’ll be good to go and then one of the cool features you do have here is the ability to clone a disc entirely. So you can make an exact copy of this entire computer and then clone it. So if you needed to restore back to this computer again or you get another computer and you want everything to be exactly how how it was, you can then take that clone and then restore it to another computer. And then you also do have some options for archiving your files. So if you want to Archive files and save space on here, you can archive them to an external drive or the cloud save space on your computer and then you can access them from your account.
So the cool thing about this is that it is crossplatform, so Mac Windows, Android and iOS, like I mentioned before, but I find that to be really helpful. So you can have specific files on specific computers backed up in certain ways. If I have a PC, that’s utilized for business, and I only want particular documents backed up and then I have a Mac, that’s utilized for Creative work, and I only want those things backed up.
I can pick and choose and then that all that goes up to the cloud or if I want an entire clone of this machine, and I want to make sure that I have exactly everything as is so. If I take this on the road and something happens to it, I can come back, get a different replacement. Computer restore all my stuff, and everything will be exactly where it was so. We are now on the PC here, which is a razor blade. 15, significantly smaller amount of data here compared to the MacBook so 412 gigs that we can go ahead and back up and similarly to how we looked at before I can go in here and I can select a few different options. I can back up this entire computer, which includes the OS applications and all of my data.
I can select a specific disc or partition if I just want to back that up files or folders specifically, and then I can obviously even back up to mobile devices or cloud services as well. And then, if we go back here, I do have the option to change my destination, which I can choose the acronis cloud, which is obviously going to be the secure option in the sense of that you’re not worrying about a physical device that you’re backing up to. But I do have an external hard drive here plugged in just to show that so it’s a 2 terab external hard drive.
I can go ahead and select that and then I can even back up the Entire Computer to there and also have it be en crypted. As well, so if I were to lose this hard drive, it would be pass protected to restore this computer, which would be super awesome. There are a few extra protection features.
Of course, one of those features specifically is illicit crypto mining. So it will let you know if this machine is being used for crypto mining without your consent. Of course, we do have ransomware attack production protection against malicious files on my device and malicious websites as well. There also is identity protection here which will monitor your online security in terms of credentials, your financial transactions and insurances, and things like that as well as antivirus. On top of all of that, so it will schedule its own scan. You can have it run a quick scan and this will run in the background. It does have some features to prevent the usage of a lot of battery life, so you can have it set so that once the computer goes down to 30 % battery, it’s no longer going to do that.
So it’s not going to just run your battery down. I can also go in here and see when the last time this device made a backup which was 2 days ago, so I can go ahead and have that make another backup, because this is only syncing small files. I chose calendars and reminders only specifically for this device.
That’S going to be very, very fast, and then one thing I do appreciate is the fact that this is crossplatform, so I can go ahead and here and say cool pixel 7 Pro I had it backup photos and videos. I can go into those folders specifically. I can recover all the data to this iPhone or I can go ahead and open a photo and see what photos are in that backup. Even though that I am going from another device that is on a totally different platform, or if I don’t have that device with me – and I wanted to see – maybe that there was a photo or a video on another device that I needed access to.
This is going to sync automatically and back up the data, so I don’t even have to think about moving those files back and forth. There are some settings you can go over in terms of how often these mobile devices back up you can have it do a continuous backup, so you don’t even have to worry about it in this case, I’m having it used Wi-Fi only, and I don’t mind if It backs up on battery in this case, and I will also have it stop backing up when power is low. So it’s not going to chew through my battery, so the mobile app is very convenient and it’s letting me see backups across all my mobile devices, which is super cool all right. So we did move over to to the pixel 7 Pro here and I do have the acronis mobile app just like on the iPhone and we’re going to see all the same backups.
But in this case we are on the Android phone and I can go ahead and look in Reverse, so we’ll go ahead and look at iPhone 12 and it shows that it backed up to the cloud as well. So I do appreciate that I can go back and forth between Android and iOS without having to worry about different cloud services or different logins when this just works across all of those. So it makes it really simple and nothing that you have to really think about, and in this case I have this automatically backing up photos and videos and then similar to the iPhone. I do have it using Wi-Fi only so that it’s not going to chew into the cellular data plan of the phone, so the app is pretty consistent across all the platforms, and it just makes things really simple all right, so we are now on the last mobile Device here, which is an iPad, I’m going to go ahead and launch the app and similar to the phone versions that I showed you previously on the pixel and the iPhone.
It basically is the same layout here, so I can tap into a backup see what’s in that file where it’s located, I can have this device, do a backup – and I can come in here and select what files I want to be backed up so on this Ipad in particular, I only have the camera roll photos being backed up, but if I wanted to, I can even add on videos local contacts, local calendars and reminders as well. So if something did happen to this device, all of that will be backed and synced up to the cloud on your acronis account now going across multiple devices. Here you know we have five different devices of across multiple different platforms. I think that this is really useful, especially because you would be having to sign into multiple different different accounts.
A Google account a Microsoft account, an Apple account across all of these to have them back up, and this is one account and you can see everything in one place which is making everything super convenient.
