Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “These Apple Products Need Upgrades!”.
Thank you to Aura for sponsoring this portion of today’s video, hey everyone Travis here and we are about a month away from the next Apple event. So let’s go ahead and predict what might happen. The last March Apple event we had was in March of 2022, and it was a good one apple at that event launched the Mac Studio, the studio display the updated iPad Air, the third generation iPhone SE and new colors for the iPhone 13 pro at the time. Let’S go over some predictions based on past Apple events and some rumors that have been floating around going into this next march Apple event. First up is the mac, and both the Mac Mini alongside the MacBook Air, are due for the new M3 chips. Currently, both of these Macs, both the Mac Mini and the MacBook Air, are still on the M2 Chip, while the iMac is on M3 alongside that base model, 14-in MacBook Pro as well. Now, of course, this would just be a minor spec bump to both of these.
As it would just be a chip change, but it would keep all of these computers on the latest model that Apple has now. A wild card at this event could be an updated Mac Studio adding in M3 to to that, as well as the Mac Pro. Both of these, of course, are still on the M2 platform, both an M2 Max and M2 Ultra and right now we only have an M3 Max in the 16-in MacBook Pro. This would also coincide the launch of M3 Ultra, which is basically two M3 Max chips combined together and that chip would be a literal, GPU monster.
Considering M3 Max is already super fast now, if Apple did add an M3 Ultra and add an M3 Max. Of course, they would have to update the Mac Studio and Mac Pro, but considering the fact that those came out in July of 2023. I don’t think it’s time yet now, if the Mac Studio and Mac Pro don’t get updated at this event, that’ll more than likely be a WWDC announcement alongside an updated Pro display, xdr and My Hope, a studio display xdr. So as far as Mac upgrades go, it’ll probably just be a spec bump on the MacBook Air and the Mac Mini, and we can hope for an updated studio and Mac Pro. But I think it’s too soon for that.
Next up is iPhone and I think there’s two things bound to happen here. One would be a fourth generation iPhone S e and the other would be a color refresh to the iPhone 15 line. Now an upgrade to the iPhone SE would bring us up to the fourth generation of that phone and considering that the two previous models used, the iPhone 8 chassis. I highly doubt that they’re going to use it again, but if Apple wanted to continue to keep that home button around this might be the last time they have an iPhone with a home button. Alternatively, I think the best body for the iPhone SE would be the body of the iPhone 13 mini if Apple used, the body of the iPhone 13 mini and threw in the chipset of the iPhone 14 pro.
I think this would be a perfect entry-level iPhone. Not only do I think this would be a great value as it would be the entry-level iPhone, but I think it would be great for those that miss the small phone there’s a lot of people out there that still miss the iPhone mini size, as the 13 Was the last phone to have that size, and this would be great to introduce that back for them, as well as the folks that want an entry-level, iPhone and then Apple could update the mini separately as it’s an iPhone S now, instead of having it a part Of the standard line of iPhones like the 15 and 15 Pro, I think the iPhone lineup is getting a little cluttered as Apple keeps several Generations behind of iPhone of the standard model and only the current model of the pros, and then they have the SE. At the bottom, I think if they had the SE as entry level, they have last generation’s phone and then they have the current generation phone, but they drop the price of the current generation phone to compensate. And then you of course have the pros as the flagship it would make the whole lineup a lot more clean.
Now, as far as the color refresh of the iPhone 15s, I think this year we might see a return of product red, and this would be on both the standard iPhone 15s, as well as the iPhone 15 Pros. Now, with the iPhone 15 Pro lineup of phones, they switched to Titanium and the colors that were offered were a little bit more muted than usual. They did offer a blue option, so I think a good midcycle refresh here would be a product deep red. Now, as far as the standard iPhone 15 and 15 plus, I think this is going to be a much more bright and vibrant red, like a candy apple red similar to that of the iPhone 11. It’S also kind of crazy to think that it’s almost been 6 months since, since the iPhone 15 Pro came out, Ora the sponsor of this portion of today’s video has a suite of protection features to make you more aware and secured. Lastly, and probably the most loaded, part of this Apple event is going to be iPad.
I’Ve mentioned this in several videos. Now that Apple hasn’t updated the iPad in over a year and that’s any of the models regardless, if it’s Pro air, regular or mini – and I think it’s time now as far as the pros go, which is the flagship iPad model, I think we’ll see the first Design refresh since the 2018 iPad Pro that thing is hard to beat, I think, we’ll see even thinner bezels, alongside an even thinner chassis, which is hard to imagine, considering the fact that the current iPad Pros are already so thin Apple’s going to have to change the Materials that the iPad is made out of, because on that 13-in iPad, if it’s going to be any thinner that thing’s going to be super easy to bend, I think, alongside that, thinner body would come OLED, which obviously would save space internally because they wouldn’t have to Have some sort of backlight – and I think the best part of bringing OLED to the iPad would be the 11 and 13-in iPad models could have similar level of displays right now. The 13-in iPad is the only iPad that offers a a super Retina xdr Display, and the 11in does not alongside a design refresh and potentially new displays, of course, we’ll get M3 chips added to the iPad Pro as well. Now, as far as the air goes, I think that’s going to be more of a spec bump, going from M1 to either M2 or even M3.
Alongside that, a potential 12.9 in version in several categories of Apple products, we are seeing the introduction of a larger inexpensive option. A couple examples of this is the 15-in MacBook Air and the iPhone 15 plus. These are a larger variant of their Baseline model. In this case, the iPhone 15, as well as the 13-in MacBook Air, but in this case it would be a 12.9 in iPad Air, and I think it’s smart for Apple to do this, because previously, if you wanted a larger display, you had to spring for the Pro model now back in the day, if you wanted a larger display, of course, you had to go for the pro option.
A couple examples of this is prior to the 15-in MacBook Air. You had to go for the 16-in MacBook Pro and prior to there being an iPhone plus model. There was only a Max model and to get that one you you had to spend the most amount of money and the addition of an iPad air that is in a 13-in form factor, I think, would complement the iPad lineup great, especially for those that don’t utilize Their iPad for heavy creative work like an iPad Pro would be utilized for and they use it for personal business or educational needs, but just want a larger screen. Now that covers the iPad Air and the iPad Pro, which leaves us with the mini and standard level.
Ipads – and I think both of these iPad models are just going to have a color refresh and a spec bump, and the only other wild card that we might see at this event would be airpods as the standard level airpods and the airpods max are desperately due For an upgrade so wrapping this whole thing up, we could potentially see a lot of products launched in March that could be new Macbook airs, new Mac, minis, four new iPads and potentially an iPhone SE alongside a color refresh of the iPhone 15 lineup. What are your thoughts on a potential Apple event for March, and do you think any of these products will actually be updated next month, drop a comment down below of your thoughts on a potential Apple product refresh in March. Thank you so much for watching this is Travis and have a good night. .
