Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “The Wireless Earbuds That Clean Themselves!”.
Today, we’re gon na be checking out the latest from lg tone free. We featured these earbuds in the past and they have some special features, including a uv cleaning functionality inside the charge case. I think when we looked at a previous version of this, we actually brought out some sort of contamination meter or if you recall, we had strips little test strips and we actually determined that the uv was effective in killing bacteria. That’S living on your earbuds, oh my god, 7 18.. So they were right.
The ears are disgusting. The ears are, there’s so much bacteria going on, but now they’ve put even more features in here, including one uh, a new one for this series that i’m excited to check out – and i have two versions in front of me here – the boxes are non-descript. Oh look at this fancy packaging. Ah so this is the fitness oriented earbud and it’s going to have some ip certification, sweat and so forth, and it’s going to have a tight fit in the ear and it does have that plug and wireless setup.
If you happen to be on an airplane, you can now take that mini jack output, connect to this transmitter and the audio will pass through the case and into your earbuds from that 3.5 mil source. That’S been a drawback for a little bit with fully wireless earbuds and setups. You want to be with the in-flight entertainment. You have to get a separate set of headphones.
You might not want to active noise cancellation in this product – uv nano, that’s the bacteria killer built into the charge case, which you don’t even need to think about, because your earbuds are in the charge case anyway. Let’S check out the other model here, the t90, but you can still see the blue light there. That’S to indicate the fact that there’s uv in there, while you are charging snapdragon sound partnership with meridian, is still in place.
We have some spatial features here. Sound moves with you identifies the location of the sound as you turn your head recalibrates, to enable a more natural, sound experience, so you can feel always in the center of the scene, nice little visual of how that works. It is pretty cool. It’S especially useful for movies and immersion if you’re watching on a tablet or something like that, a little bit more in that uv, it kills 99.9 percent of bacteria on your ear gels your tips in 10 minutes, while charging i kind of like when technology is in The background you don’t need to think about it, and this is one of those circumstances where it’s like an added little feature baked into a part of the earbud process that you don’t even think about, which is just sticking them back in the case here we have Our nice little smooth case circular, we have a usb type-c connector on the back for charging it up uv. Nano light led indicator on the front we open up the case.
You see the earbuds here. You can see the pre-installed ear tip here. It does have interchangeable ear tips, so you can find the best fit for you, which is imperative, with an in-ear style earbud to get the best sound reproduction to get that nice seal to get that base performance. This switch is going to be important if i flip this switch this way now, it’s no longer a bluetooth input from like your phone, but instead you’ve switched over to that wired input, usb type c to mini jack connector. This can be an irritation. You just want to keep your same earbuds in and switch back and forth between audio sources on the airplane. Now you can do it with this uh nice little cable and then, of course, we also have our usb c to a cable for charging it up, and these are the remainder of your ear tips. So you have small and large and medium pre-installed on the earbud. There’S a little uv nano sticker, just peel that off and a small meridian logo, an indication of that partnership. Now, a little bit more about recharging, you can do so wirelessly or wired, and you can enjoy up to nine hours of playtime with just the earbuds and then up to 27.
When you include the recharge included in the case and when it comes down to the recharge, it does support fast charging and the led on the front will switch it’ll cycle between three different colors to indicate how much of a charge you have on there. Green is going to mean that you have over 80 percent, yellow 20 to 80 and red is less than 20 snapdragon sound is going to provide bluetooth, sound quality close to that of a wired connection 24 bit 96 kilohertz and the other thing snapdragon sound does is Give you extremely low latency, which is important for things like gaming, which you might be doing on your smartphone these days, and now you don’t have the need for a wired headset in order to get that low, latency experience. Okay, let me put this one to the side for a second: let’s do a quick comparison with the tf8, so this one is all about durability. It’S about activity and it’s gon na provide a slightly different fit and a slightly different design on the earbud itself and the case for that matter. Different shape, different color. It has a texture to it.
You still have this nice little switch to move over to a 3.5 mil connector, which is nice, and then you’ve got a usb type-c for recharging uv nano light on the front. We open it up, yellowish interior, a much different, looking earbud. Yes, you have your typical ear tip, but then you have this ear hook as well, so that’s gon na sit in the cartilage of your ear and hopefully give you an even more secure fit. This is your variety of ear hooks you’re gon na have small and large medium pre-installed and then over here the ear tips, small and large, medium pre-installed all right.
So let’s go ahead and test out the t90 i’m going to pair to this phone right here. There is an application to make everything smooth, lg tone free. We can see here the battery life on the earbuds. We can see the battery life left on the case.
These do have touch controls touch once answer play and pause touch twice to end a call or to control volume three times to skip to the next song long press switch to ambient modes. You want to switch between noise, cancelling, for example, you want to switch over to pass-through. You can do that if you connect the cable to the earphone jack on the pc port, you can listen to the sound of the connected device and use the mic. You can use this with your variety of conferencing, apps in a wired fashion, possibly for better sound quality.
I presume there’s also some presets for equalizer settings, which are powered by meridian, there’s also a dedicated button for head tracking. This is dolby atmos, so this is going to be supported across applications. It’S not just going to be in one place where you might watch media. I guess you’re going to have that support, multi-point and multi-pairing.
You can connect a smartphone and other devices. At the same time, this is the scenario in which you have your laptop as well as your smartphone, and you want to be able to receive notifications and communications from either device without having to rearrange. Your connections find my earbuds locate your earbuds with a chirping sound while in range, let’s pull these out and try that right now, why don’t we and the right one? So you can actually find them independently if you just misplace one, it’s amazing how easy these things are to misplace. So this feature is obviously welcome. Okay, let me go ahead and try these on with the medium ear tips installed, which i think is actually the right fit. For me, noise canceling is enabled. Oh music music started up right away. I’M gon na go ahead and pause that i had like some uh bill.
Withers automatically played lovely day lovely day. The thing i want to try out is the dolby atmos, the head tracking, the source is there and if i turn it stays there or stereo split, i don’t know why you would do that with music. It’S that’s more of a movie thing. Huh yeah, it’s cool! I mean it definitely, the sound is coming from the orientation of the screen and, as i dip my head to the side, it moves to this ear and then back to this one.
Oh, it’s just weird the sound. The way this song is mixed. It’S like a live recording. It’S like it’s over here.
Oh it’s back now, yo! This is across everything. This is absolutely across everything i i tried spotify, obviously apple music, and let me try youtube because that’s the thing even the ads on youtube: yeah, dolby, uh atmos. Even for unbox therapy, unboxing videos – well at least the head tracking portion – is the the key ingredient here. Just a little toggle inside of the application right here, head tracking on the nice thing about it being across everything, is that it’s not just going to be movies and music, but also games. Oh very, very immersive, on the games very immersive. This is cool, so, regardless of source you’re gon na get the head tracking effect and uh. That’S the first. I’Ve tried of that, where you just load up a game youtube whatever and you’re gon na get that benefit of feeling centralized like as if your head is relevant in space and the source is the thing that’s outputting, the audio, instead of it just being kind of Pinned over here, it’s a cool experience if you’ve never tried it before, whose account is this moe’s check check one two go ahead: kirk yeah, that’s definitely pass through very um vibrant.
I hear your voice. There’S actually uh three settings. There’S noise cancelling there’s off and then there’s also ambient sound inside of ambient sound, there’s a couple different options: listening mode hear ambient sound while listening to music and then conversation mode which lets you hear voice more clearly, oh, so this is this one’s kind of magic. It like it looks for a typical frequency range that human voice is in, and it pumps that, through more so than other noises, so this could be useful in noisy environments airplane. You have that the hum of the thing, but you want to talk to the person.
Next to you, or to the attendant and now you’re making sure to just push through voice frequencies, instead of all frequencies like the low frequency, rumble of say the airplane, or something like that, so that’s kind of cool and it’s definitely different. Can you give me like? I don’t know like a string together, a couple like a sentence or something i want to have spaghetti for dinner tonight. I like spaghetti.
I, like meatballs, it’s one of my favorite dishes for dinner: spaghetti for dinner, spaghetti spaghetti for dinner, and that is the end of the children’s and novel were all happy called spaghetti for dinner. Spaghetti for dinner yeah. This is good okay. This is good. This is useful. I’Ll go back to noise canceling for music.
I was just listening to some hip-hop and the bass boost is probably what you’re gon na want for that. I’M gon na switch genres real quick! This is. Are we doxing him right now? That’S rude july park in there. He loves july talk some rage against the machine. Here we go just like i’m woodstock 99, it’s hot topic right now: superstition stevie, wonder here we go man that is a funky base right there.
Can you hear that two minutes and 17 sites? I don’t really want to turn it off, but you saw that i could tweak the eq into independently. I find that the bass boost button actually seems to increase volume overall, which is kind of nice. I just pop these back into the case and all of a sudden, it’s uh uv time, so i’m gon na go ahead and slap these ones in oh right, bit of a twist factor different fit.
Oh look at that. Okay! So we’re just booted up here, beautiful, very similar options inside the application here, oh you can see a little instruction of how to get that fit the touchpad, very responsive and a slightly bigger target because of the design. I don’t know what moe’s been listening to. I got some type of all right, yeah, so uh, i’m good as far as listening to uh, music, no problemo, very effective in doing that. Okay. So the last thing i want to test – and this is a key for me – is the usbc to mini jack adapter. Turning the case into a transmitter, this is probably not how you would use this, because the laptop you can just connect wirelessly, but you can imagine a 3.5 mil source without bluetooth.
Will use this laptop just to demonstrate that i’m going to put the earbuds back in this little switch here to the wired connection? Now i’m going to go ahead and just play a video on this laptop and i’m in the earbuds? No bluetooth connectivity, i’m just hearing the audio from the laptop, very simple to set up, and i saw the head tracking thing going on: that’s crazy, even with this source yeah yeah. So your settings and features still work even with the wired connection. This is a very useful feature.
I think a lot of people are going to use this. I think it’s a welcome thing. It’S one of those frustrations that i think a lot of people have experienced. You just want to keep using your same earbuds. If i wanted to go back to my phone now, i would just flick this switch over this way and now i’m back to getting audio via the phone again, you would use multi-point in most circumstances, with a laptop and phone situation. I was just using the laptop as an example.
If you had a source that wasn’t wireless or it was in a public place and you wanted to connect to like an airplane. So, yes, this functions seamlessly cool. So there you have it. That is the new t90 and tf8 tone free earbuds from lg fitness starting around 200 bucks, adding some cool features like the head tracking and so forth, starting around 230 bucks.
Let me know down in the comments which one is more interesting to you. Do you need a little bit more ip rating, or do you want those cool multimedia features that are built in over here? The snapdragon stuff low latency go ahead and let me know .
