Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “The Next Smartphone from Google.”.
So the Google pixel was a huge success. Despite a slightly awkward design, it had one of the best fastest, pure Android experiences and a camera that is still want to be best on any smartphone today. Luckily, for us the Google pixel 2 is just around the corner and I’ve managed to get my hands on a pretty GC leak. That tells us almost everything we want to know about the smartphone. So that being said, let’s get right into the video. So just 50 days ago we got our first look at the Google pixel 2 XL.
Now, whereas with the last generation pixel and pixel XL devices, they are a pretty similar design, almost identical, except one, with slightly larger than the other. This time I’ll run expecting two slightly different designs. So whilst we do only have the pixel 2 XL right now to look at, it shouldn’t be too far off the pixel two, and so we can use it to approximate most of things we’ll be seeing on both smartphones.
So essentially, we have one image to work from, and one of the first things you’re going to notice is has got a huge display. This is going to have a two to one ratio, something close to what we’ve seen on the galaxy s 8 or the LG G 6 and fidelity seems like the new standard as more and more smartphones start to adopt this more and more content will be made To work with it, so it’s not really a problem, it’s just something that we’re going to accept. Now, when it comes to screen sizes, whereas with the last generation we have a 5 inch and a 5.5 inch screens with this new pixel 2 XL, we are looking at a 6 inch display and what that means is the normal pixel to smartphone is going to Have something in the range of 5.3 to a 5.7 inch screen, and yes, that is a huge, huge jump in screen size. But that is a trend we have been seeing this year with almost all smartphones and the best thing about this.
Is it’s not actually going to result in a bigger phone, so, as you can see with the Google pixel and the pixel XL, these things have huge bezels. These things have bells on the top bezel on the sides bezels on the bottom and in the end, this result in a 69 % screen to body ratio, put a front of the Google pixel, which is terrible, and so by increasing that percentage to just over 80 %, Google is going to be able to set a screen that is up to 20 % larger in the same body, so everybody loves the screens on the S 8 and the s 8 plus they love how the screens gracefully curve around the corners of the device And whilst functionally speaking, it doesn’t really add too much it’s a visual masterpiece. Unfortunately, the Google pixel 2 and to excel seem to be skipping that trend entirely. These firms are going to have completely flat displays similar to the last generation of pixel phones, and the reasons for this could be threefold. These displays are cheaper to make they’re structurally more strong, and they can also display VR content a little bit more faithfully to its original source and having a flat display doesn’t mean it’s going to be a bad one. We’Re predicting lis 2k resolution and it can be an OLED display for super rich colors and really deep contrast.
So moving to the back of the phone one of the big complaints we had with the original pixel was this garish grip of glass. People were kind of wondering why it was there, and most people thought it looked a little bit like a toy and Google’s listened they’ve made the glass quite a lot smaller with the next-generation pixels, so much so that the fingerprint sensor is not positioned on the aluminium Itself, rather than dominating the back of the phone, the glass has been relegated as been moved upwards so that instead it’s acting to highlight the camera setup on the phone, and I think this looks far sleeker and so talking about the camera. We can actually learn a lot about what to expect just by looking at this photo and the first thing they probably gon na notice. There is a single camera on there. There’S merged your camera setup. But to that I would say it really doesn’t matter. If Google has decided to go for a single-camera setup, it’ll be for good reason, and the original Google pixel is a perfect example of why we don’t need it. This thing has a rather small single camera setup, but using its great HDR algorithms, Google managed to create, even today, even a year after its original release, the second-best camera on a smartphone right now, according to the EXA marks, it is still rated hired me dual cameras. We see on the iPhone 7 plus on the Wally p10 and many more smartphones like it. Another thing that sensor is gigantic: it is at least twice the size of the sensor seen on the last generation smartphone, and I can only mean good news. A larger sensor means more light enters the lens and therefore you can shoot photos at a lower ISO and get less noise in them, and so the last thing about the camera is that take me logo photo. It looks to be completely flat which people really like, because it means, when you lay the firm flat on a surface.
It actually lays flat. So one of the reports I was reading to get a lot of this information also said study. New pixel phone will actually use a similar squeezed functionality to the atcu xi and that’s kind of interesting. I mean if we look back to when the U 11 was launched.
The general reaction to it was well that’s kind of interesting. It’S a bit of a gimmick and we don’t really need it, but it does have one benefit being able to squeeze the smartphone and instantly launch. An application means that that application is one less click away and, whilst the HTC firms using this of a sort of shortcut to access, applications or toggles, what I think is going to happen with the new pixel is they’re going to implement this as the way to Open Google assistant now for those of you who have been keeping up user, is really pushing at Google assistant. It’S been constantly updating at constantly making it better and constantly trying to push it out to as many devices as possible and what is a way to make people use the Google assistant more to make it more accessible. So, in my opinion, that’s what’s going to happen and it should be exciting to see the implementation of it. So that is what we know about the Google pixel 2 and the pixel 2 XL.
