Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “The Galaxy Note 10 is… different. (Hands-on)”.
So this is a Samsung Galaxy Note, 10 and Note 10 plus, and I know you’re thinking. Isn’T there only usually one Galaxy Note every year? Well, the Galaxy S 10 plus is actually the same size. As the Galaxy Note. 9 was so Samsung went and decided they wanted to make two models this year. Now the most obvious changes are right there in front of you, but there’s a lot of minut changes that you probably need to know about, because I think that Samsung’s really trying to ship more Samsung Galaxy. Note 10 note is that the note 10 doesn’t have microSD card expansion, while the note 10 plus does the note in has a thirty-five hundred million power battery, while the note 10 plus has a forty-three hundred million power battery, and the last thing is that the note 10 is a 1080p display.
Only note 10 plus is a qHD display. What we’re used to seeing in most Samsung phones and it’s kind of weird, that Samsung would ship a phone with a 1080p display, but I’m assuming that they’re doing that, because they want to preserve battery life now. Something that both phones share is that they don’t have headphone jacks, which is a really out of place. Move for Samsung they’ve been the one that has been preserving the headphone jack for the longest time and haven’t really wiped it out of their flagship devices. But I think they probably want to ship more Galaxy buds, so they removed it in the no 10 and no 10 plus. Now, if we get to Korra specs, it’s pretty similar to what we saw from the galaxy s, 10 series you’ve still got the 855 from Qualcomm, though I was wishing that they would use the a 55 plus here, but that’s just not the case. You’Ve got 8 and 12 gigabytes of RAM on each phone respectively and you’ve got 256 and 512 gigabytes of you FS 300 storage, which we only saw in the oneplus 7 pro in the asus rog phone.
Now we were supposed to see it in the samsung galaxy fold, but that got delayed until September now, as far as design goes, the most obvious change here is that Infinity o display, and that means that they’ve put a little camera cutout at the top of the Phone to put the camera in – and I think it looks really good now – they did have to make the aperture a little bit smaller than it was in the note 9. So you’re gon na get a little bit less light here, but I think it’s a fine trade-off, because your selfies are probably going to look just fine anyway, on the back. You’Ve got a really similar camera raid that you saw on the samsung galaxy s.
10, plus you’ve still got that ultra wide the wide and the telephoto, but they’ve been rotate, and I think it looks quite a bit better than having them across the top. I just really like the design a little bit more now. The other thing to know is that they’ve completely gotten rid of the bixby button, or rather gotten rid of the power button, because, where the Bixby button used to be is now the power button and there are no buttons on the right side of the phone. At first I thought this was going to be pretty annoying because I’m used to pressing the power button with my thumb, but after holding it for a few minutes and just pressing it with my index finger, it felt pretty natural, and this wouldn’t be a galaxy note. Without the s-pen now the s-pen looks a little bit different than it did last year, it’s more of a unibody color now, as opposed to that dual tone that we saw in the note 9, but it’s got some new tricks up its sleeve this year.
We’Ve got those same air actions that we saw on the tab s6, so you can do things like swiping the pen around to change through the gallery, and you can rotate the pen in real time to kind of zoom in and out of the camera, and that Can be pretty useful if you’re setting up the camera on a tripod or something, and you want to get a shot from far away and the other major thing that Samsung really wanted to highlight. I don’t really see this as major myself, but they thought it was. A big deal. Is the ability to export notes to Microsoft? Word directly, so now you can draw on your phone and then read directly export to Microsoft.
Word send it to a friend and they can manipulate it from there. I honestly don’t think that that’s like a huge deal, but Samsung was really proud of it. So if you use that than that’s like Kanak cool feature, so one kind of cool thing is that Dex has been upgraded this year. So before you had to connect your phone to a standalone, monitor to be able to use it in this kind of Windows.
E platform, but this year you can connect it to any computer, pretty much any laptop. That has a USB a port that supports Windows and that’s really nice, because you just plug your phone in with a standard, USB AV cable that comes with your phone and it kind of pops up this new Dex window that you’re able to interact with – and this Makes it really easy to transfer files between your phone and your computer? You can also do things like running your apps in a window on your computer, which is pretty useful. Samsung’S also worked with Microsoft on something called sync to Windows, which basically mirrors all your notifications. Like your texts and your general notifications from your phone to your computer wirelessly, and that’s really nice, because Windows already had this feature already, but it was really glitchy, especially when you’re trying to mirror your notifications or your text messages and now you’re able to actually respond To your text, messages from your computer, which is something that a lot of people that use the i phone mention all the time when they say why they’re not using in Android or Windows Device. So there’s a new feature in the camera called AR doodle and basically what this is is you’re able to use the s-pen to doodle on things in real time. It’S basically a are withdrawing. So if someone walks into the scene, it’ll recognize their face and you’re able to draw like a crown on them, they can walk out of the scene. Walk back into the scene and they’ll still have that crown on them.
It’S just a gimmicky little feature, but I’ve actually thought it was pretty cool and it could actually be pretty useful if you were trying to show someone how to like set up a modem or a router, or something like that, because you can really use 3d drawing In real time, another feature is called zoom in mic and basically, what this does is focus the audio on the area that you zoom into so say, you’re recording a concert and you zoom into the drummer. Theoretically, it should capture the audio of the drummer a lot more loudly than it does the rest of the band. Now I really definitely need to test this because, if you’re like at a concert or something all that ambient noise really needs to be zoned out, but if it does work, it’s actually a pretty cool feature that I could see being really useful. The last thing is an updated super, steady mode, and this is basically just optical image stabilization.
But the note 10 is able to refresh those sensors with the gyroscope more often than it did on the s-pen plus to be able to have a lot more balanced video. That is a lot more stabilized, so the while we’ve p30 pro, i think, is one of the best stabilized cameras out there right now, and I really hope that the note 10 is able to deep throat. Now there is going to be a 5g model of this phone as well, and it’s coming to Verizon exclusively for a limited time, which means we’ll probably see it on t-mobile and maybe Sprint in the near future. But it’s pretty obvious that they’re doing this, because the aluminum frame on the note 10 is a lot thinner than it was on the galaxy s. 10 plus, it looks a lot more like the galaxy s 10 5 G, which has a much thinner, aluminum frame and more glass to wrap around the sides which allows for millimeter-wave 5g.
Now, if you want to get into a ton of your own pre-orders, start tomorrow August 8th with the phone going on sale on August 23rd, the note 10 is going to cost nine hundred and forty nine dollars for the baseline model and the note 10 plus is Going to cost one thousand and ninety nine dollars, which is a very expensive phone, so it’s really up to you whether or not you think these specs are worth it. Anyways that’s been about it. We are going to a review unit for this phone, but it’s not right away.
We’Re probably going to get it a week or so later, but I’ll be sure to let you know what I think of this phone as soon as I get it in my hand, and then we will create a full review over the next couple of weeks to Let you know what we think so until the next article I will catch you later. .
