Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “The Dual Camera Smartphone SCAM.”.
Dual cameras are arguably one of the biggest smartphone trends in 2017. We’Ve seen them in every phone from the best flagships, all the way down to the entry-level smartphones, and why do we want them? Well, just like having two eyes having two different lenses allows your smartphone to perceive depth. We can’t fit DSLR optics into a seven millimeter body, so therefore having two cameras allows for an artificially created, but nonetheless impressive, looking blurring off the background, and if we take a look at phones like the Galaxy Note, 8, the huawei p10, with their dual cameras. I wouldn’t part with the feature for anything: it’s amazing. It can turn you’re pretty amateur photography into something that really looks like it was taken with a crew and a giant camera five times the size and, as a matter of fact, one of the few improvements from the galaxy s 8, plus to the Galaxy Note 8, Is that dual camera and the change is so significant that for a lot of users, that alone would be enough for me to recommend an upgrade. However, put simply a lot of dual cameras: don’t do what they say they do now. I noticed this originally with the now-infamous. Do G mix, which I was, I believe the first one in the world to actually do a full coverage on and since then you might have seen it on unbox therapy or marques Brownlee’s channels and as a bit of a side note and curiously enough, neither of These two actually mentioned this gaping hole in the smartphone’s feature set so physically speaking, there are actually two cameras on here on close inspection, though you can tell one of them looks very different to the other, but to be honest, most people will leave it at that, And rightly so, I mean, if you buy a two camera smartphone, it’s gon na have two cameras right. Well, actually, no opening up the camera application.
The company has even added in this supposed blur mode – and I hate to say this, but it’s a complete lie. Instead of actually using two cameras to select the background understand the depth information in a photo, it is actually only using one camera to employ. Essentially, what is little more than a tilt shift effect, which is to say whatever subject you tap your finger on will be in focus and the rest of it will simply have a slight blur effect applied to it now. One way you can test your owned, your camera is to cover up the lenses one at a time, and you might find that the supposed ba Kerr mode, which requires two cameras, will still work completely.
Well, you could walk around with some tack or tape covering the second lens, and you would not be able to tell the difference now to place. A second camera on a fern for visual purposes is bad enough, but then to market it as a revolutionary dual camera. I’D say is bordering on criminal. Now I didn’t make a big deal about this.
Originally. Perhaps it was just a one-off with the duty mix phone, but trust me it’s not in fact of all these supposed dual camera phones. We’Ve got in front of us. This fete applies to 60 % of them.
On top of that, the problem doesn’t come from one, but a whole variety of different companies and price alone doesn’t tell the story. For example, the Xiaomi me 5x dual camera is absolutely excellent, and this is about a $ 250 device. The similarly priced EULA phone tyonne’s camera is completely dysfunctional. What makes it even order is then, if we take a look at EULA phones, other devices, namely they’re, slightly more expensive Gemini pro the camera on there works completely fine and is actually a pretty decent dual camera setup.
So it’s not a case that certain companies don’t have access to the technology or that it’s not sustainable at a certain level of price. It’S more a case that essentially people are being scammed. So I’m making this video today to essentially say please make it stop. Customers are essentially being deceived.
They see dual camera they’re amazed, they buy phones and often the sad thing is they never know any different. Looking at the ratings you can see, people have bought this phone on the premise of this dual camera and it has excellent customer ratings. Even though it’s pretty much a lie, but, to be honest even more concerning me, even the reviewers themselves, don’t seem to have clocked on to the problem. Looking at stuffed TVs, camera review of the phone, not one single mention – goes to the fact that the second camera doesn’t work. It’S just ridiculous. Other reviews have labeled this as an outstanding device which, for anyone who has actually used this for any period of time, will know it’s just not true and, to be honest, smartphone marketing in general is becoming worse and worse. It’S becoming extremely misleading, so-called bezel as smartphones end up having very apparent bezels when they arrive, phones would suppose it hi-fi audio chips inside of them can arrive and sound completely terrible.
So for anyone in charge of smartphone marketing who’s watching this video, please stop it. Please stop misleading consumers because in the end, in this day and age, especially it’s going to do no good to your brand consumers catch on, consume, understand and they will spread the word to the people who are out there. Buying phones just be careful, be wary, buy from brands that are trustworthy or wait for either myself or some other trusted source to test the phone before you go out and buy it anyway.
