Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Tesla in 2023: Elon makes his move”.
Thank you to Mikey for sponsoring a portion of this video, so Tesla has quickly become one of the biggest car manufacturers and tech companies on the planet. They are working on a ton of stuff that you’re going to make the products even better. It’S been a busy few years for Tesla. In the past few months alone, we’ve seen price drops, we’ve seen new autopilot Hardware, we’ve seen new colors of red, and it appears as if the newness is going to continue into 2023 and later I think, Tesla like most car companies, you don’t generally get new products. All the time you get refinements of what they have, but it seems like this year we might actually get some new new, some real stuff, some big things that Tesla’s been talking about, elon’s been promising and there’s a lot more on the horizon. That has been not as talked about as say, a cyber truck. Let’S just talk about it all so out of all the big things Tesla is doing.
This is literally and figuratively um I cyber truck has got to be the biggest ain’t, the one that everybody’s holding their breath. For so is it real? Is it coming all that kind of stuff uh? If you believe Tesla cyber truck is very much real and we’ll see it on the roads. This year, Tesla said this publicly, which means they are now held accountable to their shareholders. So I would assume we will see at least at least one cyber truck somewhere on the road this year.
This is only about two years later. The original release date with global pandemic supply chain issues and then some generally Tesla time thrown in there two years is not as bad as I guess. Uh, it could have been Tesla seems very adamant that we’re finally going to get this truck and I’m tend to believe them, but we got our first glimpse of this truck uh. A lot has changed and there’s a lot. We still don’t know the investor Day event. Uh we got ta see the closest look yet at the near production.
Cyber truck uh Tesla is calling it pre-production beta according to employees. At the event, this is very close. What we’re going to see during production, I had a chance to see one of the midish betas a few months ago. It looked pretty similar to what was announced, but again, what was shown recently is different, but you got ta know where to look so at first glance. It looks basically the same as original prototype, which is surprising. Those of us have thought there was no way in the world, it would actually come to Market, and so looking at this thing, it is it’s polarizing sales, I’m not going to talk about what I like or don’t design it doesn’t matter, it’s not for me, but It might be for you, but it’s hard to reconcile. This thing is actually real. It looks like an unrendered thing in your eyes.
It is what it is at this point. You’Ve already made up your mind. It’S cyber Truck design is going to be uh for you, um and if it is for you, you take a closer look at this newest sort of close production prototype.
You can start to see where Tesla made some big and small changes. So I think the first major change edition of side mirrors – probably a bummer to everybody uh. This was not their original prototype.
I think Elon like pretty much every other car manufacturer here in the US, was hoping we could use cameras like we can in Europe, but hasn’t happened and Tesla had to put in actual mirrors Tesla, also added uh, a windscreen wiper and instead of making them normal. Like every other car, if I had to just use one gigantic wiper on the side, I can’t tell I’m assuming that’s going to be enough to cover the entire windshield on the car. It’S weird and strange, or anything else about this car is weird and strange.
I look at the Hummer truck and we’ve already had three wipers. That was a weird thing too, so I don’t know it doesn’t seem like the wiper is going to clear the entire windshield, but I’m assuming it will so. The last kind of big change that you can see is in the interior um.
It actually looks like a real interior now, apparently, this has an 18 inch screen in the middle, which is the biggest green Tesla has ever used by an inch uh, and there won’t be an instrument cluster behind the wheel, but there’s at the model, S and the Model X, thinking of the wheel, it does seem like Tesla, is using this wheel. Yoke combo, which to me, looks like the absolute perfect uh compromise of the two, those that wanted a wheel. You kind of get that those you like the Yoke, you kind of still get that too um, I’m skeptical. This is going to be the final, we’ll actually see get to the markets.
Every other prototype has had a different version, but if this is a production, one uh, I’m all for it, you still have a screen in the back, like you do with the model S and the model X, I think one thing: a lot of people were excited About when tests on the other prototype was a jump seat in the middle uh in the front making it a six seater, it does appear in recent prototypes that that is gone. We now have a kind of a center console Soul there a chance. It could be an add-on or something you can configure a delivery, but if I was to bet I would seem streamlining at Productions, probably that will not make it to the final version. Uh there’s still a lot. We don’t know about this truck and there is a lot about this new prototype that I couldn’t cover.
But the biggest question mark that I have and probably every other buyer you put down 100 bucks – is what about the price. So if you go back a few years ago, Tesla, I think, shocked the world when they publicly claimed the price was going to start just under like a dollar under forty thousand dollars. But again that was pre-pandemic times that was pre-supply chain times, and that was a couple years ago times.
Uh inflation has hit everybody. That is almost certainly not going to be the launch price. So I would expect when this thing actually gets to Market Tesla to ship. The high-end one, so the tri-motor version out expecting that price, just to guess here to be in the 85 to 95 000 Mark. So, if you’re keeping track at home, that SKU is originally supposed to be about seventy thousand dollars. That alone, I think, is going to be a big bummer.
The big reason people may not get this truck now. Of course, Tesla should bring the skus down a little bit, but I don’t think we’re ever going to see that barely sub 40 000 cyber truck that we were told was coming a few years ago. But again, only time’s gon na tell Tesla, says we’ll see the first deliveries this year with mass Manufacturing in 2024 and they’re, certainly hirings.
If they’re planning on sticking to that timeline, I think one of the beauties of Tesla’s they’re always getting better um. Now you never know when they’re gon na get better, which is kind of unfortunate if you’re buying one, but the software at least you know, is always improving. So in fact, a few months ago, uh all Teslas got my Q Kent to garage support, which means you no longer needed Hardware in the car to control your garage, which I think is super cool.
You also don’t need line of sight not to be in front of your garage for it to work. So if you don’t know what my Q is and exists outside of Tesla 2., I’ve actually had it in my garage for a long time, but it gives you a smart way to control your garage either with a built in into the opener, which I have actually I’Ve got a hammer built into mine. I can monitor my garage with, but also through accessories, that give you smart control over your garage, it’s pretty seamless and it works really well with a bunch of the third-party home assistants. It’S a really elegant solution.
It’S software using the car’s data connection, which is awesome. It does, I think, some of the cool Tesla stuff, which means, as you drive up to your garage it’ll, automatically know your across the geofence. If you wanted to open for you same thing with reversing on the way out and it’s built in, it looks like a native solution when you use it, so you don’t have to worry whether or not you left the garage door open. It’S obviously integrated with the mic you app as well it’ll work with multiple Teslas, multiple garages, kind of anything you’ve got in your my Q, app it’ll work within your car.
Setting this thing up, too, is like seconds process. You just scan a QR code and you’re on your way. It’S not free. It is a subscription service.
They offer different plans even a five and a 10 year option. The good news, though, is that, even if you sell your car within that five or ten years, you still have access to the service, so it’ll go with you to your new Tesla. Doesn’T stay with that particular car.
Any garage you have access to of your MyQ app will be there in work, which makes it pretty seamless and easy you want to give it a shot inside. I was right for you Mike you actually give you a free 30-day trial and a free, smart garage control Hub. If your garage doesn’t already have it in support, decide to go with the five of the ten year options. You can use the code. John r10. Give you 10 off of both of those.
I did a whole video kind of detailing all the features of what this can bring I’ll link to it down below. I also put all the information you need in case. You want to subscribe on your own, so the next big car update, I’m expecting is product Highland, which is an update to the model 3 which comment down below.
If you can tell me what year, the model 3 came out in 2017 hard to believe. That’S almost a six-year-old car, it’s only received kind of minor interior updates and that’s pretty much been it uh product Highland looks to be the biggest update to the model. 3 ever we’ve seen some spy shots of model 3s driving around with some camo on it.
If you know this project is real, what exactly expect to see is still a question. I think it’s easy to say we’ll see a slight facelift to the exterior of the car and get updated to hardware for cameras and computers, which I will talk about in a sec. I also expect all this to come to the model Y in some shape or form two.
We haven’t seen the prototypes driving around yet if they exist, but for Tesla’s most popular Vehicles, it’s important to keep updating and changing them for the better, and these changes will make an already great car, even better other things we could see on the interior too. We could see the Yoke make its debut, we could see stocks go away like we’ve got on the S and the X, the prototypes that have been driving around, though don’t have those features, but when it comes to Tesla, you really never know. If you didn’t know Tesla vehicles or different generations of their Tech built in for safety and their full self driving features. Currently, we are on three and we had two before that, so they usually tend to come with new cameras around the car and a better computer to run everything. So, even though we haven’t heard anything official from Tesla, Harbor 4 is very real and it’s already shipping on the model S and the model X, a Reddit user first broke the news we took delivery of his ex was told by a technician.
It had quote ap4 and Phoenix radar. Some of the sort of the flagship Tesla features like autopilot weren’t working needs to be updated. So you should see that soon. So Hardware 4 is, is very real.
We can know what it is from a hardware standpoint, don’t know what it’s going to give us from a user experience standpoint. The camera seems to be higher resolution and there are fewer cameras there as well, because the I guess the theory goes higher resolution. You need less cameras to do it, which is kind of strange.
If you look at the front-facing cameras and the S and the X, there are three camera holes which Hardware three had three cameras, but now Hardware 4 only has two cameras. They just kind of put in a dummy camera there. Instead of replacing the whole thing, I was holding out gigantic hopes for a camera in the bumper or lower, so we can get kind of a true 360 camera view. That does not appear to be here with Hardware 4.. Presumably, this new hardware will make Tesla’s full self-driving safer by some magnitude over what Hardware 3 was and again, according to Elon Hardware, 3 was already safer than a normal human driving by a lot so gon na get safer and safer, allegedly as the hardware and the Processing power tends to improve. So speaking of the the Phoenix radar as well, radar was taken out of Tesla cars, and it said it wouldn’t come back until the radar got super Advanced and sort of see more than it could be before.
That’S what the Phoenix radar looks to be more advanced radar that can see more around you if you believe, for autopilot and for safety. So we know for a fact: Tesla is working on a new platform for the most affordable vehicle. Ever they talked about the manufacturing plans during investor day. Didn’T actually see the car, but I expect we will see it, I’m assuming very, very soon, there’s not too much. We know about this other than Tesla plans just to be their cheapest. Car and that’ll be very easy to manufacture. We’Ve also heard that it may be a hatchback with a similar interior to the model 3, but your guess is good in mind at this point. Wouldn’T be surprised, though, if you get a glimpse of this by sometime in the summer, other crazy rumors have been circulating about this car like the same cost.
Tesla won’t paint it, for example, but we should see more again in the next few months. We also saw during investor day kind of covered up in a picture, would look like a van. I don’t know if it’s a Tesla’s answer to rivian’s, edv or kind of an ID Buzz competitor or something totally new Tesla’s working on, but Tesla dance is pretty cool. So going along with cars is supercharger Network that continues to be.
I think one of the key selling points for Tesla’s and it’s such a huge Advantage uh. It’S the only reliable way to charge an electric car while on a road trip. I think Tesla is making this even better. So a little while ago, I introduced the magic dock here in the US that let non-tesla’s use superchargers, not very many. Have it presumably more will soon um right now in a few locations in California New York. But it’s a very interesting move for Tesla.
Clearly, the network is a gigantic reason to buy a Tesla, but if anyone can sort of use them, it makes a worse experience for Tesla owners and gives less a reason to buy. On the other hand, tests already have stated their goals to move electrification forward, letting anyone use a charger, certainly speed that up. I’M incredibly excited about super try to network opening up here. Uh, my guess says: magic docs will come certain locations, but not everywhere, and this will let Tesla owners be able to say the network is open and not flood every single supercharger with non-teslas but definitely remains to be seen.
We did just get a glimpse out. The Next Generation supercharger, which is the fourth gen, there’s one that’s almost ready in the US and in Europe, a V4 supercharger just went live. They look like bigger versions of the urban superchargers um. The only real difference here is a longer cable for charging, non-teslas and bigger cars, but apparently this is going to support up to 600 kilowatts charging or 250 Max.
We have right now on the V3. Now, presumably this will come in handy for a bigger cyber truck. Should have a gigantic battery inside and perhaps new Tesla vehicles that come out can support faster charging architecture, but it’s nice to know at least that it’s going to be it’s an immediate future future proof. But again this doesn’t said anything about this. Yet we’re just basing this off of sort of a little label on the back of supercharger. Another area Tesla is still moving ahead with is solar and powerwall, but right now I’m not expecting any huge updates with any of that.
It’S pretty clear, Tesla’s trying to Electrify as fast as possible, but their current Solutions, I think, are still about as good as it gets right now. That was a lot. Tesla is very busy and they may surprise us even more. They announced you know a robot.
Last year maybe they’re gon na announce a Electric Lawnmower or a helicopter. At this point, who knows that’s kind of the fun with covering Tesla the keep you on your toes. You never know. What’S going to come from them, um I’m excited for the future of Tesla. I probably find myself back behind the wheel or yoke of one uh in the next few years and I think the more cars they can get out the better. I think the more features they can bring to these cars uh, the better, I’m obviously very focused on the tech.
I think focusing on Driving Experience, interior, build quality interior luxury features on the high end would also be very welcome, but either way it’s going to be a very busy next nine-ish months for Tesla .
