Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Star Wars Republic Commando — Testing on an i5-6500 + RX 6600 8GB — Will It Play?”.
Hello and welcome to Tech deals. Thank you. All supporters of the channel YouTube float plane and any other platform this might get uploaded to in the future. Your support is highly appreciated. This should not be a surprise to anybody who knows what this game is.
This is being done for fun and for laughs and for lulls, because of course, Republic Commando will play just fine on an i5 6500 and RX 6600. This is absolutely absurd for those of you who don’t know Star Wars, Republic Commando came out in 2005., I didn’t say 2015, I said 2005.. This is an original Xbox game. This thing will, of course, play on an i5 6500 it’ll play on a Core 2 Duo.
Frankly, it probably will play on a Pentium 4.. It might even play on a Pentium 3.. If you take a look, you’ll notice that our CPU is absolutely not in high demand, it’s only using two of the four cores because of when this game came out and our graphics card is so unbelievably bored. It is almost comical.
The throttling of the card is all the way back to 700 megahertz. Well, except for that one brief moment and our usage is barely half I mean, let’s be honest, this is miles and miles away from actually using this Hardware. That’S not why I’m making this video! I’M making this video to be able to say hi and thank you all of you for supporting and also to say that, despite its age, if you guys haven’t, played this game and you like cover Shooters and you like a co-op shooter, this thing is entirely too Much fun it never got its planned sequel, which is a shame. It is a really really cool game. It’S got three campaigns, it tells the story during the Clone Wars, between episodes, two and three you get to play as an elite Commando Clone Trooper. You got a squad, you’ve got you’ve, got cover spots, they’re super battle, droids, there’s geonosians, it really is pretty cool and the graphics are extremely dated. At this point I mean come on, take a look at it this this is an original Xbox yeah. Yes, that was a wookie, so the graphics are definitely very dated, but that’s not really the point.
A fun game is a fun game and this thing is a blast. Now I don’t remember how many hours I have playing this, but it’s too many I’ve played through the campaign, probably four or five times in terms of complete playthroughs, and it was originally supposed to get a sequel called Imperial Commando and it didn’t – and that’s just a Shame and unfortunately, once Disney bought Star Wars and declared all of the previous stuff to be non-canon that opportunity an option, kind of went away, we’re of course well into the hundreds look at this we’re averaging 276 frames per second, which I almost kind of think. It should be higher than that, but the uh, the CPU may be the limit there, normally we’re at 3.3 gigahertz but you’ll see at times we get up to 3.4 and 3.5 because the CPU is so underloaded. It’S rare that you actually go above the all core turbo on a locked I5 like that, but in this case we do now I’m about three minutes into voicing this over and if I sat here and voiced it over for 20 minutes, the 10 of you who Would watch this probably won’t watch the whole thing anyway, although if you do think you greatly appreciate it? What I would like to know from you guys – and this is what the comment section on member exclusive videos are for – is what type of exclusive content? If any, do you want? What do you want to see? You want to see exclusive game benchmarks? Do you want to see background conversation updates to the channel a q a? What can I do to increase the value of being a member, or do you just want me to make more content now? I know some of you support the channel and don’t ever ever watch these member exclusive videos.
When I look at our member count – and I look at the views on the member exclusive videos, more than 50 percent of you – never watched these things, which is fine totally fine, I just I want to be able to make sure that I’m providing value, because, whenever Viewers are willing to give direct support to a channel. I want to make sure that I’m giving you something for that. I’M recognizing your support. So this is your opportunity to get down in the comments section, and let me know what you think one question: I will answer that frankly, I think most of our regular members know already, but I’ll say it anyway is we continue to be asked? Why aren’t we doing live streams? Where did the live streams? Go? We stop live streaming in June of last year. It’S been 10 months. There’S a reason for that.
Uh, the views on the live streams are dropping, the subs were dropping it. It was not productive. It was going in the wrong direction and if we kept doing it, you know we’d end up with five people hanging out, which is fun, but I do this for a living, and so I I need to pay the mortgage and it just it didn’t work.
So I know some of you definitely did like the live streams, but that’s where those went I don’t foresee, bringing those back. I know some of you want that, but I just I just don’t if I were to live stream again I mean I might just go. Play games on Twitch and probably be just as productive, and some of you may like that. Actually, but in any case, I look forward to seeing your comments below and if you’ve never played Republic Commando. You can pick this up for next to nothing on all the various platforms I think, including gog.com, which is definitely a good place to get retro games like this.
I highly recommend it. Thank you so much for watching and for supporting, and I will see all of you next time hear that boss sounds like they’re trying to get through the door. You could drop a grenade right in the middle of their party, sir. Whenever you’re ready there stop looping around and get some factors retrieving it.
