Solder a Mini Flip Light

Solder a Mini Flip Light

Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Solder a Mini Flip Light”.
Sometimes you really need to sink your teeth into a big project and other times all you need is a simple one to satisfy that maker itch this flip light is certainly the latter. You’Ll only need a few simple components to build one and they solder together in just minutes, they’re fun to build and even more fun to use. Let’S get started the key component of the flip light. Is this tilt switch? There’S a ball bearing housed inside the switch that completes the circuit when the switch is in a certain orientation. In this case, when both leads are pointed down, the switch is in the on position. We’Ll start building the circuit by flattening out the terminal leads to the battery holder, so they point straight out from the center solder. The outer lead of the tilt switch to the positive battery terminal.

In my build i’ve also soldered the housing of the tilt switch to the battery retention, clip to securely mount the switch. If you do this, make sure you test your circuit first as the housing likely functions as a contact for the switch place, a blob of solder on the retention clip and then use it to secure the switch into place. Now we’ll prepare the led by putting a few bends into the leads bend. The anode or positive lead of the led out at a 90 degree angle, do the same with the cathode or negative lead and then bend it back down again after a quarter of an inch then place one more bend. So the end of the lead is pointing back towards the led solder, the end of the cathode to the negative lead of the battery holder and then solder. The anode to the remaining lead of the tilt switch clip off any excess leads place.

A battery into the holder and then check the circuit if the led lights up, when you point the led towards the floor and then turns off when you invert, it then you’ve successfully built the switch circuit finish. Building your lamp by mounting the circuit to the inside of the lid using double-sided tape or a blob of hot glue, make sure you can still close the jar and then you’re done. The cr2032 coin cell battery should power. The flip light for five days of constant use and they’re cheap and easy to replace. How will you use your flip lights?
