Solar and Wave Powered Autonomous Submersible: Liquid Robotics Waveglider

Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Solar and Wave Powered Autonomous Submersible: Liquid Robotics Waveglider”.
Liquid robotics makes the wave fighter, which is an autonomous ocean vehicle – that’s powered entirely by the waves in the sun, and this it allows it to operate in the ocean for long periods of time because it doesn’t run out of fuel. The float has the solar panels on it. It also has the main electronics concluding the satellite communications, the GPS and a lot of the sensors. Anything you want to know about the ocean just about the Waverider can find it out with the sensor slice it for you.

It has two pieces of float. That’S at the surface. I glider this on the bottom and as the waves move, the float up and down it pulls the glider up and down through water. That’S not moving as much down below, and so the glider turns that up-and-down motion into forward thrust and it swims along the rudder, is the only actuator in the whole system, echoes left, right and center, and that points the waverunner where we want it to go. We basically came up with this concept for turning wave energy into propulsion.

It can be autonomous or it can be controlled by somebody sitting on shore. We’Ve got satellite communications. For the first time we can put instruments in the ocean without a ship to deploy them. .
