I was hosting this video because the tech news today is that exciting, so real nvidia launched the rtx 3080 at 6am yesterday exclusively to bots and scalpers, who overwhelmed the pre-ordering system and cleaned out virtually all stock from seemingly every store minutes after the launch. The one place you could find in rtx 3080 right now is ebay.
Where said, scalpers are reselling, the cards for hundreds and thousands of dollars above msrp, some sellers are even selling fake cards under the name rtx 3080 paper edition, because it’s not an actual card. It’S a piece of paper with a picture of the card on it. I am so sad, nvidia apologized, for what can only be described as a complete cluster of a launch saying they are now manually reviewing orders placed on their website to prevent scalpers from ordering any more, but some users took it into their own hands. Those seventy thousand dollar prizes you see were apparently the result made by angry fans who withdrew their winning bids, which costs the sellers, ebay fees and may prevent them from being able to sell the cards at all until more stock is available, at which point they’ll have No choice but to sell them at normal prices like a like a schmuck one user, even wrote a bot that clogged the ebay listings with fake bids, showing that the only thing that can stop a bad guy with a bot is a good guy with a bot. Murica ps5 fans found themselves in an only slightly worse predicament as due to some mixed messaging pre-orders for the console, went, live early and were already sold out basically everywhere by the time sony announced that the pre-orders would go live the next day, but david got one.
