Remove Photo Backgrounds in PowerPoint

Remove Photo Backgrounds in PowerPoint

Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Remove Photo Backgrounds in PowerPoint”.
In this article i will show you how to quickly and easily remove the background out of just about any picture that you want to use in microsoft. Powerpoint, let’s get started, i’m going to jump to slide number two of this powerpoint presentation and we have a photo here of a woman, and i would like to remove the background that shows up behind her in the photo in microsoft, 365 versions of powerpoint and also Other modern versions of powerpoint, like 2016 etc. You can simply select a photo and then go to the picture format. Tab here in the upper right look in the adjust group, and you should see something that says remove background or something similar when you click that powerpoint does its best to try to identify what is background and what is the foreground of this photo? Now it’s not perfect, but what i can do is just go here in the upper left corner and click on mark areas to keep when you click that your mouse pointer changes to a pencil and at this point i’m just going to click and hold the mouse. Click and then drag i’ll just scribble really on the areas of this photo that i want to keep and it may take a few tries so i’ll, just doodle over these areas of the photo that i do want to keep and then release the mouse button.

Let’S see how that does. Okay, that looks a lot better next. If i want to fine-tune this a little bit, i can click here where it says mark areas to remove, maybe i’ll just try to click and drag just a little bit here between different locks of her hair. Okay, that seemed to go pretty well. Let’S try this one also. I think that worked out pretty well down here next to her arm i’ll. Try that as well to try to make that transparent. Okay, great, i think this looks fabulous.

I might also take out that little white dot there, and in that case i simply clicked i didn’t click and drag. I just clicked on the item that i wanted to remove. Okay, i’m gon na click keep changes and look at the results.

I think this turned out great. I can now click and drag to move the photo of the woman where i want it to be, and at this point, if i wanted to, i could bring in a different background. Let’S see how that looks i’ll click to send backward the background so now my photo features a completely different background and i can adjust that.

However, i want to on the slide. Let’S do another example, this one’s going to be a little bit harder. So let’s say i want just this dinosaur here. I don’t want the rest of the dinosaurs and i don’t want the background once again, i’ll select the photo or image and then i’ll go to the picture format. Tab here in the adjust group. I’Ll click remove background i’ll mark areas to keep and i’ll just try to do this. As best i can just get the different parts of the dinosaur by default, it looks like the dinosaur was going to be removed. So it’s a good thing that i can use the mouse and this pencil to mark the things that i want to keep. Okay, let’s just try that that looks pretty good now i’ll mark the areas to remove. Let’S try that so that went pretty well but, as you can see, i need to do some fine tuning, i’m going to use this zoom slider in the lower right corner.

To make this a little easier for myself. I might also scroll over to the right a little bit and then i’ll just click with the pencil. If i want to, i can do more than click i can click and drag, and then i can just go up here: go over here, selecting the areas that i want to remove. Okay, so that’s not perfect, but it looks pretty good if you ever feel like you make too big of a mistake, and you want to just reset things: you can click discard all changes, but i’m happy with this and you’ll notice, even though there are some minor Imperfections in my work, when i click keep changes, it still looks pretty good and if i were to put that in front of another background, the imperfections would be very difficult to see.

Now, in both of these examples, i used photos that i got simply by clicking insert pictures, stock images or online pictures, so i just pulled them in directly into powerpoint. I could search for just about anything select the item that i want to insert and then go to the picture format to begin removing the background. But what, if you have a very specific photo that you want to do this to? Maybe you found it on the internet, downloaded it to your computer or maybe it’s a photo that you took with your camera and it’s on your computer and you want to remove the background. Maybe you don’t even want to use it in a powerpoint presentation. Could you use this powerpoint tool to edit out the background and make it look the way you want it to look? Let’S try it out. So i’ll click insert pictures this time i’ll pull the picture from this device. I downloaded this picture earlier from the internet.

I’Ll go to my downloads there. It is i’ll make the photo a little bigger in this case and again i’ll go through the same process going to picture format, remove background wow powerpoint did an amazing job in this case with the car itself, but you can see that it’s, including some extra stuff In this market, behind so i’ll click mark areas to remove i’ll just scribble on that a little bit, and it takes it out now at this point now that i’ve got the background removed, look what i can do. I can right click on this image and choose save as picture i’m going to save it to my downloads folder on my computer, i’ll give it a name, click save and now, when i go to my downloads folder there it is, i can open it up, and This is a photo, that’s independent of powerpoint now, so it is possible to even use powerpoint as basically a photo editor to remove the background out of an image, and then you can use that image anywhere.
