Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Pixel 8 Pro vs. Galaxy S23 Ultra: Can PRO beat ULTRA?!”.
The word Pro in Google’s pixel phone means something in 2023, but is pro better than Ultra with a new set of AI tricks and manual camera controls is the pixel 8 Pro finally ready to take on the best from Samsung, with the Galaxy s23 Ultra there’s a Lot going on with both of the designs used on the pixel 8 Pro and the s23 ultra, namely the approachability. I personally really like the soft, rounded, almost bubbly, aesthetic of the pixel 8 series as a whole. The s23 ultra is a boxy Beast that hasn’t really changed all that drastically since the s22, and I don’t think that’s a bad thing. It’S every bit what you would expect from a high-end Samsung phone.
That means great materials, a more refined design from last year and a solid build in the hand. The back of these two phones actually look drastically different as a result of these design changes. The pixel8 pro has a massive camera strip which is truly unique, and the switch to a matte finish, I think, is a really nice touch.
It definitely hides fingerprints Nicks and scratches exceptionally well, or at least it does better than the glossy 7 Pro did. The s23 ultra, though, keeps a matte finish with a smaller and less pronounced camera setup compared to the pixel itself. The s23 ultra is a slightly bigger phone compared to the pixel 8 Pro, but Samsung justifies this thanks in part to the inclusion of the Spen with the Spen. There are tons of extra things you can do like sign documents create drawings and even control.
The camera is this: definitely a tool meant for productivity, but Google has done a lot this year with the Pro to make it a more productive device in its own right to do this. There are a bunch of new AI features included like audio razor Zoom enhance magic, editor best take for group photos and video Boost Plus a few of camera features are coming late this year with a software update. And finally, though, one of the most important is that we actually have manual controls for the first time on a pixel phone. That said this is something that has been available on Samsung phones for quite a while at this point with regards to the camera system. On the s22 ultra, you can practically do anything with this setup.
Samsung also has their own version of Magic, Eraser, there’s 8K video, recording 200 megapixel photos and even pictures of the Moon. With that 100 times Zoom capability, Google is also making the pixel 8 Pro much easier to use now by switching to a flat display. This has the added benefit of Cheaper protectors and accessories that you can go out and pick up. Despite all of the improvements, though, on the pixel 8 Pro screen, which is exceptional, its own right is hard to argue with the Samsung’s display heritage. The s22 ultra certainly looks gorgeous even with slight curves at each side of the screen. The good news is that both of these screens are rated at 120 HZ, but the pixel has a slightly higher Max brightness level. It’S tough to decide between the duo, because these are genuinely s tier panels in every single sense. I’D probably give the s23 ultra the edge for overall quality, but I do prefer the pixel 8 Pro for usability and outdoor legibility. Thanks to that flat screen and higher Max brightness.
Of course, with Google you have the tensor processor and with Samsung you obviously have the Snapdragon chipset, but the rest of the specs are actually fairly similar, at least on paper. They have the same IP rating, no expandable storage in display fingerprint scanners and stereo speakers thrown in for good measure. They also have almost identical batteries with similar charging speeds and options thrown in, but Google’s commitment to tensor does mean the s23 ultra has the edge in raw power under the hood.
Despite this, it’s hard to work out, which is the more capable Smartphone when using them side by side. Although one thing to note is that if you do op for the base model of the s23 ultra, Google is actually shipping. The 8 Pro with 4 GB, more RAM, you’re, probably wondering why does this extra Ram matter well, it could be very important as while oneui and the clean Android pixel build, share more similarities than they ever have done before.
Save some sens specific functions and a few cosmetic changes. Google is offering one of the longest update plans in the industry. The pixel8 pro is touted or promised seven full years of updates, not just monthly patches, which will undoubtedly mean that in 2013, having access to more system resources is going to be beneficial to you heck. Even in 3 years time you probably reap the rewards of that extra onboard Ram. Just where the Google keeps out update promise remains to be seen. Samsung isn’t matching Google this year, but in 5 years time you should be able to use your phone pretty comfortably.
Os updates for the s22 ultra is set to cease in 2026 with Android 17, by which time you might actually be ready to upgrade from either hander. If you choose one of this Duo anyway, longevity aside UI, though, is stuffed with functions and add-ons to take advantage of the Spen. Predominantly it’s one of the most comprehensive OEM skins out there with tons of unique capabilities, even if some of it does feel a little bit gimmicky with the 8 Pro you have a clean version of Andro 14. You get lots of new functions like enhance privacy controls, the predictive back gestures and more customization options than ever before that make the experience a little bit more cohesive.
One of the few party tricks is the unique temperature sensor on the back of the pixel8 pro. I got to say I have no idea if people will ever use this on a day-to-day basis, but you could use it to do things like check if your cup of coffee is still hot amongst a few other things as well, so, which is the better overall Buy well, I’ve got to say credit where it’s due. Google has made the most Pro pixel phones to date. However, Samsung still has the best package for professional users, thanks in no part to a huge feature set, but, most importantly, the S Pen. The fact that the pixel8 pro can actually get Within Reach, though of the s23 ultra, is a good thing for you, the buyer, but if you want Pro Tools on the move, you’re, probably better off with a Samsung phone, specifically the s23 ultra, which is the better Phone overall: well, that’s a tough question and is determinant on what you prefer: clean Android with the longest update schedule and plenty of AI smarts or raw power in every area and a more consistent track record. If it’s, the former go for the pixel8 pro. If it’s, the latter go for the Samsung Galaxy s23 Ultra. Alternatively, you can also hold on to the s24 ultra launches when we’ll see how Samsung responds to the pixel 8 series in early 2020 4.
