Pitches with Prototypes: Lumiglass

Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Pitches with Prototypes: Lumiglass”.
Hi everyone i’m adam, this is ryan and this is sam and we are prototank. We are a prototyping and hard product development company based in tech shop, san francisco thanks. We help large and small companies, turn their ideas into working prototypes and we also develop products in-house. So we’re here to show you one of those today, so this right here is enlighten which is totally transparent when turned off, but when turned on it’s opaque and quite luminous, a lot of you may have remembered seeing this last year during katarina moda’s demo. She displayed this as part of her new materials. So when we saw this at last year’s workshop, we got really excited and we decided to go and prototype some new ideas and we’re really proud to be back here this year to show you one of those new ideas. So this is luma glass. This is a new way of making light up, signage, sign technologies, and it’s it’s very crisp. It has laser cut edges and it’s it can be any color and it’s extremely energy efficient. So right now these signs are being powered off. The batteries in in ryan and sam’s. Pockets can also recreate brands very faithfully, go giants and, unlike neon, which you see kind of everywhere. Neon has to use hand bent glass tubing, which is very labor intensive, and that process hasn’t really changed over the past 50 to 60 years.

Also, unlike neon, the color can be changed on the fly and when turned off, it’s almost completely transparent. So this is good for clear displays for things like windows for glass doors, for maybe the display case at a at a beverage case in a in a convenience store. We think that this technology has a good opportunity for advertisers to find a space because of its high customizability and sharp look so another iteration of this core technology is luma glass, infinity, so ryan can turn that a little bit. Maybe you guys can see it.

This is less than an inch thick, but when you see it up close, it looks almost a foot deep, just like luma glass, it’s very customizable and the color can be entirely dependent on the leds that are used for the system. So we’ve been really fortunate to be to have an office inside of tech shop to have tools, add really amazing tools at our at our very close hand, and also to be part of a really amazing community, and, as we were, creating this technology, we felt that It would be a really perfect opportunity to create a sign for the front desk at tech shop. So we’ll show you guys that so this this will be hanging up inside tech, shop, san francisco, soon and uh, and hopefully maybe another couple locations down the road um. So this is a very young technology, we’re still exploring the space where this could be used. We’Ve had some interests for conferences where attracting customer attracting the eye of customers is really the name of the game, and we think that it could be great for advertisers and brands to faithfully recreate their their logos, but in a really unique way. So these will be outside afterwards, they’ll be most bright and vibrant in the evening, so we’ll be walking around as soon as the sun goes down and come and take a look up close it. It’S got a really cool effect that i think you all are going to like. So thanks um, it was really it’s really exciting to be here to be bringing a technology that was inspired by a talk last year, and we really want to thank dale and the make team.

And we’ve made you guys a sign that we’ll get to you after the talk and for everyone else. Please come and check out the technology. Whenever you see us around thanks, you .
