Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Oppo Air Glass 3 | The only AR glasses I’d use.”.
At NWC 2024 in Barcelona, Oppo showed off their new airglass 3 concept and if AR glasses are going to come to the market, then Oppo are in the driving seat AR glasses. Aren’T anything new we’ve seen them before. We’Ve seen Google Glass back in 2013, which was a massive failure and Oppo has been working on their AR glasses since 2019, but with the airglass 3 this time around, it feels that Oppo have almost nailed it. I say almost because these are still concept glasses from Oppo, and I don’t see these coming to a mass Market anytime soon and it hasn’t stopped Oppo from putting everything into these air Glass 3 – and these are some of the most usable AR glasses that I’ve ever Tried first off: if you want to get AR glasses to the mass, then you need to make them look like real glasses and Oppo have made the airglass 3 look like a regular pair of glasses from the front.
But as soon as you have a look at the airglass 3 from the side, that is where you can see how chunky they are, and they do only weigh 50 g, but they’re still a lot chunkier than these regular, normal glasses. The chunky part of those glasses is where those speakers a house inside the airglass 3 and it uses reverse sound technology, to stop the leakage of sound and it tries to keep those things like your calls. A little bit more private. But if you want a private call, then maybe AR glasses are not where you should be taking the call. You also have four microphones that are housed inside the airglass 3, which you would use to take your calls with, or what you can do is speak to Andes GPT, and this GPT is oppo’s AI assistant when you’re wearing these glasses and it kind of works like Any other sort of AI assistant, you ask it questions, it will give you answers, you ask it to call someone, it can call someone and the way you activate.
This is just by pressing that Temple part of the glasses and then instantly and S GPT will pop up and you can use it as you need to use it. But for me this was a little bit hitting wrist and it didn’t work every single time. This is why these are still concept glasses. The full color display inside those lenses of these glasses, though, is where the opper air Glass 3 Stand Out.
By a mile. The display is used Advanced Micro, LED technology, which is quite hard to show the display on camera, but it does give a peak eye brightness of 1,000 nits and honestly, it actually worked really well. It looked like a real full display.
In my eyes, it looked crisp and I genuinely was really impressed and when I had them on, I’ve, never felt more, like Tony Stark in my entire life than when I was wearing these glasses and when you use these glasses, and you see that display it does Make it feel sad that these are actually only a concept and the fact that we probably won’t see these for a couple of years is a little bit disheartening, but it just shows where technology is and not everything has to come to a consumer market. For you to enjoy it, sometimes it’s just good to enjoy Tech because it’s cool, it doesn’t necessarily work all of the time, but these are a really cool pair of concept glasses from Oppo. I’M not sure where I would put these glasses into my everyday life. I’M not sure they would fit massively well for me, but it just shows where Oppo is with this sort of stuff and where these AR glasses could go, and at the moment to use these glasses. You need to have it tied to an Oppo phone and you need to be inside that Oppo ecosystem because they don’t work independently away from the phone.
But let me know, though, what you think of this Oppo airglass 3. Is this something you think you can see in your everyday life? I think I struggle to put them in, but I want them and I need them since using them. But let me know in the comments below and before you head off. Why not subscribe to Android authority as well, and if you do that, then I will see you later.
