Nikon xxArray 3D Scanning Booth at CES 2014

Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Nikon xxArray 3D Scanning Booth at CES 2014”.
Hi this is mike and i’m at the nikon booth here at CES 2014, with alex henery nikon’s, put together with Alex an incredible 68 camera photogrammetry scanning array. It’S this guy sitting right behind us, it’s about ready to shoot! Someone Alex tell us all about it! Well, it’s, as you said, a 68 camera array, and it’s it’s actually pretty incredible, because what we have is a doorway and a possibility. You step inside in a second you get shot and then about two hours later we’ve got a whole pipeline. That puts you right into the video game.

Now we’ve got a video game demo, it’s not a full fledge video game, but it gives you an idea of the possibility that not only can you be in the game, but you can actually take your 3d capture and get a full print. A 3d model of yourself there’s there’s limitless possibilities, so one of the things that’s really mind-blowing about this is it’s not just a render a static scan of the person that goes inside of the the camera ray the processing that alex is talking about. It actually creates an avatar digital avatar that is fully moveable within a video game system.

So it’s just a single shot that gets taken inside the system now all hard. Would it be for someone to build a rig like this and have a processing setup of their own to do something simple? Well, the good news is that all of this stuff is available. Most of the stuff is available. I should say, but the the photogrammetry is a very democratized solution, because you can just with a single camera, you can start playing around, so you can take addie 5300 and capture a still object and capture it from different angles. You can do this at home. You kids can do this at home.

To anyone can do this, use a software that will stitch it all together and then start start playing around with photogrammetry. This shot was taken yesterday. In a little under two hours we were able to process all the photography, create a wireframe rig it and then drop it into the game, and it’s it moves its articulated.

You are a full actual video game avatar now this is really incredible. So what type of a what type of movement are you capable of doing here running and what we could do some break dancing? We can do some running and the way we’ve set this up. Is it if you, if you find enough objects in the game, you’re? Actually able to fly, it’s really great. This is so either that there’s been a progression of motion capture technology over time, but this seems like it takes things to the next level, where you do suddenly you’re, not wearing ping pong balls in a black lycra suit, but you’ve got one shot and suddenly your Character is capable of, I mean it. This is a fully articulated moving set up here.

This is great if I’m excited to see see more of it well, thank you. We’Re really excited to share it here today. .
