New Apple M2 MacBook Pro Unboxing! - Upgrade Time?

Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “New Apple M2 MacBook Pro Unboxing! – Upgrade Time?”.
What’S going on guys, it’s ravage consumer and today is Mac day. So you know what we’ve got over here: some emac products So today we’re unboxing the newly announced MacBook Pro and Mac Mini and we’re gon na see what it’s all about. Take a look at them. Let’S pop this thing open all right, so to start things off, we’ve got the new Mac Mini, of course, featuring the new M2 chips. If you guys haven’t heard, the M2 was announced with the new 13-inch MacBook Pro, as well as the MacBook Air, but these guys feature a little bit more.

I believe this one comes with the M2 and the M2 Pro, let’s just unbox it right. Yeah, let’s see. What’S inside, oh there’s more in here, okay, there’s more so this little guy right here is the third product to feature the standard M2 Chip, as well as the new M2 Pro. So, let’s pop this guy open, it’s just so wild to me that this thing is so small, it’s so powerful! You know what you’re not wrong.

This does feel very Apple tv-ish, but a lot more powerful and we’ll take this thing off. We got some ports over here in the back, of course, have the power port ethernet two Thunderbolt 4 ports HDMI two USB A’s, as well as a headphone jack boom. This is it like this is the Mac Mini now what’s crazy about this is that it starts at 5.99, which is a very, very low price. Considering you know the kind of things that you’d be able to do with this now, of course, you can just see from inside the Box. You do have to get everything else when it comes to having this low price point. This is just like. Let’S say I need some apple power I’ll get everything else you got to get your own mouse keyboard monitor, but you do get the system and the power cable.

So this one right here is, I believe, the 799 option. So it’s got the M2 Chip. The standard M2 Chip, as well as eight gigs of RAM that 10 8 gigs of RAM now I’d, want a little bit more. So I’d probably be looking at the M Pro, but if you’re not going crazy, maybe the eight works. But I would have liked to see 16 gigs here now, we’ve seen the kind of performance that you can get out of the M2 Chip, because we covered the MacBook Air and this one’s going to function similarly to the 13-inch MacBook Pro where, because it has fans It’Ll have that sustained performance for a little bit longer.

So if you want to do some power, hungry work, you’re going to be able to do that for a little bit longer with this guy compared to something like the air, which is a fanless design, but yeah, I’m pretty pumped for this. Considering the price range now Apple did introduce their next chip, which is the M2 Pro, which is also an option on the Mac Mini and that one’s going to retail for 12.99. So you’re, looking at like 1300 bucks to get the next step up in power and based on what Apple has shown in terms of performance. There should be a pretty nice spec bump, because M2 is already crazy. Add a pro to the name. It’S got to be crazier right, but yeah, that’s the new Mac Mini now. Let’S talk about that new Macbook Pro all right guys here, it is the newest 16 inch MacBook Pro now this one that I’ve got right here, features Apple’s new M2 Pro that we’ve been talking about, but they’ve got an even crazier version with the M2 Max which We’Ll have to try out at a later date, but let’s see what that M2 Pro is hitting for and maybe even compare it to the M1 Max this one’s silver.

So we’ve got that one right here in the box. You’Ll also got your magsafe cable and I believe the new colors I think, like the space gray, now comes with a matching magsafe charger. So that’s that’s the plus okay, I think.

Last year they all came with one cable yeah and of course you have. I think your 140 watt charger, so you can fast charge this thing and of course, some paperwork. Oh yeah, we had some paperwork in there. We kind of kind of skipped, but I did it for the mini. You made me: go back Jay all right all right! Oh black stickers, there we go there, we go all right worth it worth it. Let’S look all right.

This one comes with paperwork and silver sticker all right, so we got our charger. That’S all you get in the Box. Now, let’s see about this uh MacBook there we have it and pop it open, got ta love it now this one that we have right here is, like I said the M2 Pro with 32 gigs of RAM two terabytes of storage and what’s crazy about this, is With the M2 Max, you can configure it to have up to 96 gigs of RAM, so those crazy numbers that we used to see on like the Mac Pro it’s crazy, because you can now get that on here with up to eight terabytes of storage and uh.

Let’S do some logging in so you know what I want to test Jay. I want to see where this M2 Pro or how I want to see how it Stacks against our M1 max power wise, because the M2 is like the Next Generation right. So it’s a leap in itself, but how does a pro from the new generation compare to a Max from the old generation? Maybe I’m curious, so maybe folks could save some money and go with the pro if, if because those machines we’ve been able to do a lot with those yeah and probably more than someone needs, and if this one can compare to that, why not save a few Hundred bucks, yeah the ports and everything are the same.

We’Ve got three Thunderbolt. Four ports got two on the left side, one on the right. What is different is this HDMI port, it’s 2.1 now, so we can now have higher end monitors connected to this uh. Get that higher refresh rate, so that’s a big win, something that we were expecting in the last generation, but it’s here now. We also have the SD card slot on the right side, as well as mag, safe on the left and your headphone jack. But aside from that, everything else is pretty much the same now, essentially, that’s it in terms of unboxing. So let’s hook them up, get some software on here and see how they work. Oh, you know what they also threw in a dual sense controller here, because with these new Chips, apparently game is going to be a lot more feasible with faster Graphics.

So, let’s give that a shot too, all right guys, so we’re back, and we were able to test these out a bit. We put some of our biggest and best projects on both of these machines. Just get an idea of how it ran. We threw our course on here.

Actually, if you guys don’t know your boy made a full-blown smart home course on how to Tech out your space. If you haven’t seen that links are going to be down below in the description, but we went all out for that course, I’m talking visual effects, uh red footage, so we got 8K footed, all kinds of crazy stuff. We went all out for that course to make it the you know best quality possible and that’s what we threw right onto these machines and we got some findings.

You guys now. Trust me, I know not. Everyone is a video editor.

There are all kinds of different reasons to use some of these machines, but this is how we use them, and this is what we use as our guide to see how powerful the machine is and trust me if it can pull off what we put it through Here, if you’re an average consumer chances, are it’s going to be able to handle whatever you throw at it, so at the base level, you’re getting extremely good performance, depending on the device, great battery life really great speed. These are really amazing chips, but if you really want to push these even further, it’s going to be more important to look at whether you’ve got a pro a Max, an Ultra, even more so than like. Is it M1 or is it M2 and here’s what brought that thinking to me? So we did some tests. This is an 8 minute and 50 second video pretty much nine minutes uh on the standard M2.

We were able to export this video in about 10 minutes over here on the M2 Pro we were able to export this in seven minutes and what is it like, 30 seconds 35 seconds and I’d be pretty happy with those numbers. The performance has been great with these, but we decided why not try the M1 Max. There is an M2 Max, but how does the M1 Max compare to something like the M2 Pro which is like a Level under it? That will be my question exactly so. My question was: is it better to have the next gen chip, or is it better to have the most powerful version of whichever chip so check it out? This is the M1 Max this exported the same video in five minutes and 25 seconds, which is quite a bit better than these two, and that got me thinking if you’re planning on upgrading.

If you already are in that M1 lineup, then chances are you’re going to want to make a linear upgrade. What does that mean if you’ve got the M1 Max you’re not going to want to go to anything below it on the M2 stage, even though M2 is newer, you’re not going to want to go to M2 or M2 Pro, although what I’m trying to say you Guys is, if you want to make an upgrade you’re going to want to stay in line with the current chipset that you have or better. I just no, you you’re not going to want to you’re not going to be able to save you’re going to have to buy within the same realm of what you purchased before. Luckily, even though they’re upgrading these chips, the price stays the same for the laptop, so the M2 Max is going to cost the same as the M1 Max, but chances are, though, if you’re upgrading from an Intel chip uh, whatever anything Works, anything is going to be Better, you can go for M2, like didn’t.

They have some crazy numbers like 14 and 15 times better in different categories. It’S like mind-boggling stuff. So if you are upgrading from like an Intel chip, it’s just about how much money you want to spend and how much performance you’re really looking for. But one thing that I also like is that Apple really seems to be focusing on the gaming side of things, and these do pretty well in terms of holding up when it comes to gaming, gaming seems really smooth. We don’t see really any drop frames, even though we had like a bunch of different games open at once, right Jay, like four games open at once and uh, which makes absolutely no sense and the games are running smoothly. Now the thing is, this is still a match, so we’re not gon na have access to all the crazy games that some of us might want to play. So, there’s always that, but for the games that are available here like this Resident, Evil, you’re still gon na be able to play those pretty well you’d, be surprised, considering you know Max, don’t have the gaming reputation, they do all right, but that leads me to my Takeaway you guys Apple silicon is amazing and they’re getting better and better. So good that I’d say a lot of people are going to be able to hold on to their M1 devices for a couple years uh.

These are going to be obviously better, but who’s complaining about M1 huh, not many yeah, but for the average person M2 is going to be all you need and then, when you’re looking for more power, that’s when you start looking upward. I hope this video is not confusing without about wraps it up for you guys. Hopefully you enjoyed it. Hopefully, you walked away kind of understanding.

What upgrade paths look like with this apple silicon? If not just hit me up on Twitter or something I don’t know I’ll catch you guys in the next one. Until then, it’s your average consumer peace. Don’T forget to check out the course .
