National Maker Faire: Behind the Scenes

National Maker Faire: Behind the Scenes

Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “National Maker Faire: Behind the Scenes”.
Okay, this is Dale Dougherty at national Maker Faire, and we have some guys here that work behind the scenes to make the fair happen and I’m gon na have them introduce themselves to you start with Jonathan I’m Jonathan McGinn production manager for maker faire Justin hi. I’M just Justin, that’s just it! I’M birthday boy we’re the dead pigeons. All right! You have to decode that on your own time. So tell me what you guys are doing here this weekend.

Sorry Jonathan! I’M actually telling these guys what to do and when to do it and where to do it and then they generally follow my instructions. You have to deal with weather and wind weather, wind people, happy people unhappy people, things that show up things that don’t and that’s about it. Everything that comes up tell people with a boneyard. This is a family show. I could tell you, but I might have to kill you, but it’s basically where we store everything that we use to make the show and when we’ve got the show in place, we take all the empties the extras, that’s where we keep our machinery. It’S where we have make our plans and have our safety meetings in case. I didn’t make clear these guys work on Bay Area Maker Faire, New York Maker Faire. They have a lot of experience. Jonathas worked every fair we’ve ever done in those venues and and Justins from New York, and you are to birthday boy, okay, but what you don’t know is they all have except Jonathan, extremely important other talents she’s too busy. Well, you might say, Jonathan works burning man. That’S kind of another talent we could give them, but tell us about or demonstrate your talent I mean I don’t. Should I hold the microphone? No, I’m just kidding you you’re doing a great job. You’Re like you’re like the best and ever you’re a comic.

I I do I dabble in a medial arts. I do do that and you dabble in the vocal arts stabbed on the vocal arts along with birthday boy. Here, it’s true, i’m mainly a musician classically trained singer and whatnot. Obviously, you still need a day job.

That is the unfortunate position we’re in as artists yeah. I think some makers can identify with that and we like to consider ourselves makers we’re like the maker of a make. That’S what we do. You know that a lot of stretching and picking things up and putting them down – I don’t think we’ve done a maker fairness, how to climb it as it was yesterday. Have we um? No, it’s been pretty pretty sweltering, but you know you put. If you take your sleeves off and then you wear your sleeves as a hat it, I find it quite cooling like a zit like you are cool and you feel cool. That’S called improv, okay, um! Thank you. I just wanted to introduce you guys who who really make things happen behind the scenes at national Maker Faire.
