Milling Ukuleles with CNC Router Parts

Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Milling Ukuleles with CNC Router Parts”.
Hey guys matt stoltz here at maker faire bay area 2016 and we’re in the cnc router parts booth where they are cnc cutting ukuleles and giving them away this weekend. So the cnc router parts team are starting out with solid blocks of wood and they have jigs made inside of their machine that will hold down the parts, so they can actually mill away the different parts, they’re, making solid bodies, solid necks and then they’re also including Aluminum fretboards and other accessory parts so we’re here with aaron from cnc router parts uh. Can you tell us a little bit of what the advantages are for a cnc router, as opposed to say a 3d printer sure, so the cnc routers, that we have give you access to machine a lot more different materials and to make things out of a lot Of different materials compared to a 3d printer, we can do metal. We can do aluminum, steel, woods plastics. So, with that material at your fingertips, you can do a lot of interesting.

You know consumer level, products uh, what all processes and what materials are you using to make the ukuleles here at maker faire sure so the the ukuleles we’re working on here? Um we have a steel soundboard and that’s being plasma cut on our cnc plasma cutter. The bodies and the necks are being sculpted out of maple and then the fretboard here is being machined out of aluminum and the bridges as well. We machined a bunch of these before we came in, and these are made out of 6061 aluminum as well. What different variety of machines do you sell at cnc router parts, so we started selling our machines as large format machines, but we’ve gotten into a lot of different types of machines recently, so we have cnc routers.

We also have some bench top milling machines, like the benchtop pro system over here. We also have some uh entry level, benchtop machines for people who are just getting into cnc that come in at about two thousand dollars, so a lot of different machines that we can offer great and how many ukuleles do you plan on making this weekend uh? I think we’re going to be able to get through about a hundred ukuleles this weekend. That’S our uh! That’S what we’re going after um. We brought some parts that were finished from our shop, but we’re cranking these things out and we are looking forward to giving away to people if you want to see more projects from cnc router parts like a full-size guitar go to cnc routerparts.com .
