Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “MAKE @ Engadget Expand 2014: Luidia – Smart Pen 2”.
Hey, i’m nick normal i’m here with make and i’m here with uh catherine from louidia, and she has the smart pen 2 that you’re gon na you’re going to talk to us about. So. Can you tell us a little bit both about the sort of resolution of the pen, how it interfaces with the app there’s a base station here, that’s also a charging station uh. So can you just walk us through your pen? You bet so we um we make the equal smart pen too. Lydia does and it’s a the unique thing about.
It is it’s a regular ballpoint ink pen um, which is a little bit different from some of the styluses out there. It works on any kind of paper because we have a receiver here that looks the eyes and listens for the infrared and ultrasound that come out of the tip of the pen. So we actually have somebody here to demonstrate for us and basically what that means is. If you have one of our two apps open, we um have we work on android, ios, mac and windows with and have free apps.
But if we open up an app here right on regular paper, it knows exactly where you are and um allows you to work on an area as small as four by four. But you can go as big as a4, also um and everything you set that inside of the app to change resolution of the paper, exactly you calibrate for the area. You want to work on. Okay, and you said this is a standard ballpoint pen. So how would you go about refilling it or you know, renewing the ink inside yep, so when we, when you get the little charging station, that ships with the pen um there’s a spare refill there for you and if you run out it’s the kind of thing That you can get at any drugstore stationary store, it’s not proprietary, yeah, we don’t make paper or ink. We do the technology that lets you make them smart standard, usb recharging, yep standard, usb recharging.
Through the end of the charging case. There works up to eight hours. The pen does um and then it also um. If you you know, if the charge is out, it’s a full charge is two hours great and it’s a pressure pressure sensitive. It is up to 600 levels, so in our equal sketch app, for example, we’ve got that’s great catherine thanks so much and you’re it’s a lydia and it’s the smart pen too great thanks a lot. .
