Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “MAKE @ Engadget Expand 2014: BEAM Robotic Telepresence”.
Okay, here we are with beam um and actually i have a question um. Who are you and why aren’t you adding gadget expand okay, so my name is rheem and the reason why i’m not there is because i actually have a wedding to go to tomorrow. So it wouldn’t really work out uh geographically, but it’s able to be able to, let me be at work, but also be local as well. So that’s kind of why i’m not here so can you talk a little bit about the technology, how it works and and what you plan on using this for or what are people using it for uh, currently yeah, no problem. So, basically, what beam is it’s a smart presence system enabling someone to be in two places at once, and the way we operate is off of wi-fi or 4g.
As for some applications, we can be used in health government, education manufacturing, of course, communications transportation, ways that we can actually be used in those industries, for instance, let’s say in health. I recently just did a a nursing and hospice convention and ways that it’s been used. There say nursing offices, a lot of places, don’t actually have ways to necessarily have doctors, 24, 7 on staff. So what they’ll do they’ll actually have a beam inside their nursing home? So there’s a problem with the patient: instead of sending them straight to the hospital they’ll can have a doctor beam into the nursing home once again.
Saving that cost and maybe getting the the patient treated on the spot or having to export them to actually the hospital or attend something like engadget expand in new york city from palo alto, i think, is where you were from um headquarters. Okay, so i got to ask you one question we all want to know like, so you got to show us your moves like: what’s your best dance or or how fast can you go well, so i’ll do a little spin for you all right, perfect thanks.
