Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Make Books – Make an Arduino-Controled Robot with Michael Margolis”.
My name is michael margulis and i am the author of the arduino cookbook and make an arduino controlled robot, i’m here showing off the kinds of things that you can do with arduino and with robots and i’m showing off a robot. That is the subject of the book and the kit make an arduino, controlled, robot and also some new robots that are seen for the first time at this show. So this is the first robot i built to illustrate uh many of the capabilities of uh arduino. It’S a uh, it’s called rivera and uh.
The robot is capable of uh following uh lines and detecting edges and moving around and having fun. So i have two new robots. One is a robot that i call crawbot and this is a falling robot which moves around and can sense light and is based on arduino, so you can control both the robot’s behavior, but also do arduino experiments, flash leds and switches and use sensors. The third is the newest robot that i built in conjunction with a friend of mine, david buckley, which is a walking robot. It’S a very simple walking robot again it’s arduino-based and we’ll have a look and we’ll see how it moves. My favorite thing about maker faire is meeting all of the people who are interested in making things, some of whom have read my book, some of whom are looking for information and finding out what kind of projects they’re doing and hopefully inspiring them to take advantage of. All the wonderful things that are available here i got started making through my hobby. I was interested in radio control and i was looking at adding a capability which didn’t exist on the market, and so i looked at microcontrollers and found that with arduino. I could build something in a couple of days that just wasn’t available before and realizing how easy that was. I built more and more stuff and, as i documented the stuff that i built uh, i realized that there were people out there that wanted to do similar stuff, and that led me from taking my lab notes into publishing a book. The three tools that i can’t live without are a soldering iron, a multimeter and a plain old screwdriver awesome.
Thank you. You .
