Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “M1 Max 16in MacBook Pro Unboxing & Hands-On!”.
What’S going on guys, it’s your average consumer and looky looky, we got our hands on the brand new 16 inch macbook pro. This thing is an absolute beast. Apple went all out in terms of upgrading the specs, the power that you get from this guy, but they also updated the body, so we’ve got new ports baby. So what we’re gon na do is we’re gon na. Do a quick unboxing.
Take a look at what you get inside and we’ll see how much power this thing actually has. Okay, so with what apple sent us, we do not need to use our unboxing knife. I know right where the kunai is at, but before we get started i’ll. Let you guys see the specs that we’re working with, as you can see, this guy is an absolute beast uh, so it’s gon na be really fun to see what we can actually pull off with this, but now that you guys know you got some contacts.
Let’S see what we got inside so this is it okay. So of course we’ve got some paperwork. Let’S see, we got stickers, pamphlets. Oh so now we’ve got our charging brick, which looks a little different. It’S rectangular, it’s no longer a square, but it’s interesting. The usbc port is all the way up top but yeah. This is the new charger and if you didn’t know you guys a little something something is back so spoiler alert.
We got magsafe back baby uh, so this is the new magsafe cable. We got a nice braided cable and this is a long cable, so let’s check out the actual ports and how this thing will interact with it. So this is it let’s. Let’S take a look here. This thing feels this thing is thick.
It feels heavy. Oh man now this is this – is different: the old school ones right yeah. I feel the exact same way, so we’ve got like a pretty rounded body, uh, but very flat up top. This is this thing is heavy, but this is the 16 inch model.
So that’s what you expect uh, but, let’s see so, we’ve got our magsafe port on the left. Two thunderbolt 4 ports, a headphone, jack and you’ve also got an hdmi port, that’s back and next to that, another thunderbolt 4 and that sd card is finally back baby. Us content creators have been dying for that feature to come back like it should have never left. We know this. We know this on the pro models. It should have never left carl you’re familiar with magsafe and like macbooks.
No damn you so carl’s a baby man. All right, so this is where you charge it, so this is basically the charger and it just snaps right in now. The reason they called it magsafe was because they used magnets, obviously, and it’s safer, because if you bump into the cable or something while you’re walking it pops right out your laptop’s not gon na, come flying down. Oh and take a look at the bottom now it’s got macbook pro engraved at the bottom too.
That’S new and they’ve got different feet like even the little rubber feet. These are different as well. Usually it’s rounded. This is like a flatter feel to it and then look at that look. Even the keyboard is completely different. It’S all black so before it we’d have the black keys.
But now this is just all black and we’ve got the touch id inside of the power button. Right here and the track pad and speakers are pretty much – i think, they’re the same size there we go and one of the biggest changes you guys is this right here that notch so the bezels around the screen have been decreased uh, especially up top, but one Of the choices that apple made was to let the notch live there so that front-facing camera can still be there. Nobody likes the notch, i think that’s safe to say, but this is not gon na get in the way of any content. So it’s not a big deal now.
This notch also comes with an updated front-facing camera. We are now getting some 1080p 1080p goodness yeah. It’S about time right now, there’s supposed to be improved speakers here, as well, with better bass, control, uh lots of new updates uh, but i did want to just do a quick, unboxing kind of show. You guys everything, that’s changed and just my overall first impressions uh.
This feels like a new but older device. It feels like the body of one of the older macbooks, but it’s absolutely new, all right guys. So here it is. This is the 16-inch macbook pro i’ve had it for a couple of days now, so i figured i’d.
Give you guys some more hands-on seeing what some of these features and upgrades are actually like. A full review is going to be coming soon if you guys want to see a real day in the life with this as the review, let me know as a comment down below. I think we’ve done that before. I think i’d like to do that with this.
So let me know what your thoughts are. I have not compared it side by side with the previous 16 inch macbook pro, so i figured we’d do that here too uh. Definitely one of the biggest changes between the two of these guys, obviously the ports and all that, but it’s just the overall design. So this is quite a bit more curved at the edges.
You can see they kind of taper off. This is flat straight up. This is like an old school macbook.
You guys it feels like it’s a bit yeah, it’s a bit thicker, but listen. You will not hear judd complain about a device getting slightly thicker when it had all of the things that this thing adds to it make them a little bit. Thicker companies, i don’t mind, give us more power more battery, all that good stuff i’ll, take it, but overall it’s a thicker design.
Uh. If you had a case that conformed to the shape of this. I know i’ve got one that i try to use with this. Guy didn’t really work so something to keep in mind, but overall, i’m good with the design changes, except for one thing they took away my touch bar you guys.
I know not everybody liked the touch bar. That’S fair! A lot of people actually disliked it, and that’s fine apple, listened to those folks. That’S okay! I knew there were a lot of them. Thank you. Oh jay, you got ta go man. I really did like the touch bar.
I like the functionality of being able to find the right emoji that i was looking for, but i wha whatever it’s gone now now. One thing i really want to touch on is this notch right like how has this notch been? It’S really not a big deal. You guys it’s just the fact that it’s there, the fact that it exists will probably bother some folks, but when it comes to functionality, haven’t really had an issue with it feels just fine uh. None of the programs that i use uh actually have any problem functioning around this thing.
So it’s a non-issue it’s just there now something that was a really big deal was the new camera right. Finally, we’ve got an updated camera. Let’S just take a look: let’s: let’s do some facetime checks and see how much better it got all right. So just jumping into the cameras right now we got facetime open.
This side looks a lot cleaner, but it looks like it’s pumping up the iso way. More than this one is and then doing some kind of denoiser, so i look pretty soft there actually, but it looks it still looks better than this. Let’S, let’s actually do a facetime call, though okay, so right now we’re looking at the quality from the original 16 inch macbook pro the old school facetime camera i’ll swap over to the new one, and now this is the 16 inch macbook man look how much like It looks much nicer. It’S a cleaner image like i said, definitely got that bumped up iso, but it’s a much cleaner image for sure now.
Of course, we had to try some pro apps right, so we’ve got final cut, uh exporting one of our videos. I think our ipad mini video and do you guys you guys hear that screaming right now, those are the fans from the original one and uh the new one, let’s not a peep. What is it at 56 compared to 27.? Oh man, um. Oh all right! So probably like a second ago, so five minutes and 30 seconds on this guy wow – and this is listen. This has a 7s3 footage red foot, red raw footage right 8k.
What and this guy, like still at 56, it’s gon na be a while. So jay has been editing off of mac. Pros he’s he’s the one who does all of our exports for our videos and you’re telling me this is exporting much faster than those much faster, eight nine minutes, and this did it in five minutes and 30 seconds.
And, what’s crazy about that? Is the price difference you guys like this. This machine probably cost like a quarter of what our mac pro costs. That’S insane uh, it’s insane and it’s it’s portable and this one is still at 66 percent. Seven minutes i’m over it.
I don’t even want to know what this guy finishes at, like you, you’re old news shoo, but all jokes aside guys. This thing is an absolute beast. We’Re gon na do some more testing some more hardcore stuff, although jay like what? What more? Can we really do? So we’ll do some more stuff in the real day in the life, you guys will get to see how that goes, but in terms of power, this thing is absolutely insane the m1 max, if you’re a professional whoo, something you got to consider and something that i’m Really liking is like this screen is nice and bright looks good? I love the fact that the bezels are so small. Now, not not a big deal to me at all.
If you’re doing content creation like this there’s no way that this won’t pay for itself. In no time this machine is absolutely insane you can get so much work done so quickly, all right, so that was i stopped it maybe like four seconds later. That’S about 11 minutes and 56 seconds or 57 seconds. It’S a big difference. You guys – and this is the maxed out 16 inch model that you could get previously. So this is the best of the last generation this one’s just like leaps and bounds better and you know, what’s crazy jay. You know how many like we’ve had this, like. I said: we’ve had this for a couple of days now, few days uh, you know how many times we charge this with all of the things that we’ve been testing one one time we charged it once ex, we just exported uh this project we’ve been messing around With other professional applications, we’re 40 okay, you know what let’s call it a day: let’s call it a day. We did some testing. We tried a few things out, we’re going to leave it at that. Hopefully, you guys got some insight into just how crazy of a machine this thing is, but if you want to see a legitimate full review in a real day in the life, let me know with a comment down below we’ll put something together for you, but that About wraps up for this video guys apple’s doing crazy stuff with these chips, man, this macbook pro this.
