Lenovo Z5 - How could they LIE to us!?

Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Lenovo Z5 – How could they LIE to us!?”.
All right, you might remember, last week I made a video about this upcoming smartphone, the Lenovo Zed 5. The company had talked about how it would have a 95 % screen to body ratio, 45-day standby battery life and up to 4 terabytes of storage, and I sort of warned people not to get too hopeful about this. That all of these claims were part of a sly marketing strategy and it’s true they were, but now I’m gon na show you how it’s paid off quite nicely for the company and also how it creates a concerning incentive for future companies to follow in so to Get one thing all the way the Lenovo said: 5 is not what people thought it was gon na be here is the teaser image. We would give him if you take this image, duplicate it and flip one side. This should have been what the phone looks like.

The company went further and also gave us this one, which is cheeky to say the least. It again implies that the screen extends from corner to corner, at least at the top. Ok, so now you’ve seen that this is the actual phone and your first impression is probably gon na, be something like wait. What from no angle does this teaser image reflect the actual device? There is a notch at the top and the chin at the bottom. This is nothing but a lie, but here is why it might still make quite a lot of sense. The Lenovo is at 5, as it turns out, is actually a pretty good value phone for just over $ 200 you’re, getting the powerful Snapdragon 636 chip.

6, gigabytes of RAM and 16 megapixel dual cameras, not to mention a large screen with a high screen to body ratio and yeah. Of course, this phone is not what we expected, but if, for a second, we almost move our preconceptions to the side. The Lenovo set 5 stands on its own two feet as incredible bang for your buck and funnily enough. Lenovo has actually released many great value phones over the last few years, but here’s the thing how many of them have you actually heard of by creating this buzz around the devices they’ve definitely made some enemies.

There are definitely people out there who are really really not happy about this, but given that lenovo is a very small player in the global smartphone market, they’ve got much more to gain from people knowing about them. Then they have to lose from some people, disliking them. The way they’ve gone about launching this phone is still likely to net them higher sales from all of these new eyes, they’ve drawn in with their false claims. This marketing strategy has created ripples in the tech community.

There were not only hundreds of articles before the launch getting people really excited, but now there are hundreds after the launch telling people the realities, and this is the way media works, something that is popular becomes more popular if something is generating excitement bloggers are gon na Want to write about it, which then in turn makes people more excited and so on, and while some of this coverage is scathing and on average, the outlook is definitely not positive. This is one of those cases where any coverage is beneficial. This suppose it four terabytes of storage, that the firm is gon na have well it turns out. Four terabytes is the capacity of a hard drive that lenovo is also releasing. The company was ambiguous about it and they never specified that they were referring to the phone. When talking about this figure, but I’m sure they knew that people would assume this and the 45 day battery life, well, we’re pretty sure.

That’S not gon na happen either turns out. The phone is equipped with a very standard 3300 milliamp hour capacity, and this 45-day figure actually came from a SmartWatch. They were also releasing alongside the phone and again when making this tease. The company never explicitly said that 45 days was going to be the battery life off the phone, but I’m sure they knew that people would interpret it this way.

So in that sense, it’s kind of disingenuous. This whole ordeal does raise some questions. This strategy, aka, exaggerating to the point of lying, wouldn’t make sense for very established. Companies like Samsung or Apple who’ve, already invested a lot in their brand image, but it could potentially become the dominant strategy for new firms. You have little to lose and really need the publicity, and I guess this is almost inevitable, and the only thing we can do is to take claims with a little bit more skepticism, especially when these sources are not big brands that have these images to maintain all Right guys all ready, hope you enjoy the video and if you did find it useful, if you could smash that subscribe down below already Nino to me my name is Aaron.
