Junk Yard + Jungle Gym: Visiting The City Museum in St. Louis Missouri

Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Junk Yard + Jungle Gym: Visiting The City Museum in St. Louis Missouri”.
We’Re gon na do something a little different today, instead of building something crazy, i’m gon na show you one of the coolest places i’ve ever seen in my entire life and i’ve seen some crazy stuff. This is the city museum in saint louis missouri. What you see behind me? Yes, that is an airplane. Yes, that is a school bus, teetering off the edge of the building, buckle up we’re going to go inside and you are not going to believe the stuff that happens inside this building. The city museum is incredibly difficult to describe, but imagine this if you gave dr seuss and m.c escher a welder and about 20 hand-picked artists and said, build the world’s craziest jungle gym.

That would about sum. This place up. Most of the material here is reclaimed from construction sites or old buildings and factories that have been disassembled and torn down. Even the stuff that seems seemingly boring is really cool. These are the pans you’d find in an old cafeteria. These things are so cool they’re lenses off of old overhead projectors, like you have in a classroom. These are the covers. The glass covers from your electrical meters on the side of your house.

This place is so crazy. There’S little holes everywhere that the kids are crawling through that are so tiny that even the bigger kids won’t fit. There’S a huge complex of caves back here that i can’t even take the camera back in because it doesn’t work. It’S uh, it’s it’s almost a maze and there’s little four doors everywhere. It’S really really cool the ceiling looks really cool, but it’s kind of deceptive. It’S hiding the fact that there are little trails that people can crawl around in the ceiling.

You can see a little bit of one here see those people here watch this guy try to squeeze through this tiny hole right here, every corner, you turn around, there’s another surprise: it’s like a circus going on in here. It’S wonderful! I keep saying this place is full of surprises and it’s hard to express, but here you can be in a fairly innocuous area and you find a little door. It doesn’t look like much right, let’s go through it.

What you see behind me are the old industrial shoots where the shoes would come down whenever they were manufactured. Now it’s a slide 10 stories tall that you can slide from top to bottom, but first you have to climb this stairwell a spiral staircase all the way to the top. If you’re like me, and into industrial arts welding kinetic art stuff, like that, this place is so beautiful in both sights and sounds it can it can nearly move you to tears whenever you see some of the stuff people have done here.

This was just an abandoned building, nothing but a bunch of metal scrap, and now it is an incredible experience. I know i keep mentioning all these little holes and corridors, but they’re literally everywhere look a little hole in the floor full of kids. I can hear them. There’S one it look, crazy is incredible, there’s so much of it when you look around the floors, the walls, everything just from your mosaic.

I can’t even imagine how many hours you take to do all this. It’S beautiful. There is an area here for more hands-on than just climbing on things you can do artwork here, charlotte chalk, artwork over here on a giant, chalkboard, crayons, all kinds of stuff look at this table. This table has seen so wonderful making it’s been a hectic few hours trying to film here at the city museum in saint louis. I am exhausted both physically and mentally, from crawling through tunnels and climbing over things. This place is amazing. I’M going to be dreaming about it for weeks if you get a chance check, it out, city museum in st louis missouri be sure to like and subscribe for more videos from me.
