Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Is this the best OLED TV for gaming? LG G3 EVO”.
So, as most of you guys know, I own two fully Decked Out setups one for myself and the other for my wife: slash, guest, slash, backup, whatever you want to call it, and it isn’t a secret that I’ve been recently addicted to Diablo 4. So much that I’ve decided to upgrade my guest bedrooms TV to the brand new LG OLED Evo G3, and I’ve been having to tie my life gaming on it, huge thanks to LG by the way for setting up the TV and sponsoring today’s video. At this point, I lost track at how many TVs LG has produced the world’s first OLED came out in 2013 and since then, they’ve produced a brand new OLED model every single year. But the main upgrade this year is the MLA technology which enhances the brightness. So much more compared to other OLED panels powered by the new Alpha 9 AI processor.
The G3 uses around 5000 tiny micro lenses per pixel to help redirect the light that would normally be lost by Reflections, and this allows for better contrast that overall, better picture quality. So you still get those super deep black, an incredible viewing angles, and one thing I’ve actually noticed is that the G3 model doesn’t reflect as much light compared to their previous OLED TVs. It has a better anti-reflective coating. So if you’re going to use this in a well-lit room with Windows, it’s not going to affect your experience as much. In fact, it doesn’t matter if you’re in a dark room or a bright room, because you’re able to adjust the brightness to compensate your scenario. As with their previous Evo models, you still get a flat Mount that way you can attach it flush against the wall. However, sadly mine doesn’t allow for that due to the protruding socket. So I just used a regular flat monitor mount instead, which still looks pretty good.
The OLED Evo G3 is a godsend for all Gamers. With 4 HDMI 2.1s. You were able to game in 4K resolution at 120 hertz and, if you’re, a Madman who likes the game on a massive display with your PC, you will really love the low input, lags less than 0.1 millisecond response time with Nvidia g-sync AMD, freesync and variable refresh Rate support you just got to make make sure you are sitting far enough away from the screen, preferably with wireless peripherals for the best experience believe it or not.
I’Ve actually had a lot of fun playing all types of games on this TV from platforms to racing games. Fps like Modern Warfare, 2 and even Diablo 4, was amazing on the giant screen. You also have quick access to the game settings overlay that shows your current FPS, as well as options to change the picture profiles and adjust other settings like the black, stabilizer, g-sync and freesync.
Now, if you do hook up the PC and decide to use it for work, you’d be pleased with the color accuracy as well. It has a very high DCI, P3 and srgb rating, which is great for any color sensitive work. You can expect to find the same picture profiles as before, but personally I like to set the TV on standard when I’m watching YouTube videos, but I always switch to cinema with filmmaker mode, because I love that color profile a lot more. And it gives me that ultimate Cinema experience – AI picture Pro – is also a pretty nice feature, as it will automatically adjust the picture quality according to the type of video you watching, but the AI Sound Pro is even more impressive. One thing I absolutely hated about the previous LG OLED Evo models was the UI. Lg always seems to jam pack the TV with tons of useless apps, and it got to a point where it was difficult, navigating and finding certain apps, but with the G3 they simplify their web OS quite a bit by creating these folders, where apps are categorized making It much easier to find things now in terms of responsiveness. I did notice the UI being a bit snappier compared to my other OLED TVs. The scrolling feature is more smooth, there’s no stutter. When opening up an app, I mean just overall a more pleasant experience. Personally, I think the 65 inch option has the best value, but if you already own an LG, OLED Evo model, I would hold off on the G3 at least wait until Black Friday or even around Christmas, to see if there’s a potential price drop on it, and Then you can sell your old LG TV to kind of make up the cost. Now, if you’re rocking a potato TV for a while now – and you want to make the jump to OLED, then yeah, this would be a really nice first time to upgrade and future proof. Your Entertainment setup for at least the next five years, or so because you’re pretty much covered by LG’s five-year warranty links will be below.
If you guys want to check out the TV thanks. So much for watching and I’ll see you very soon in the next one foreign .
