Is AR Better Than VR? — Star Wars: Jedi Challenges — May The Fourth Be With You

Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Is AR Better Than VR? — Star Wars: Jedi Challenges — May The Fourth Be With You”.
Hello there i’m muse – and this is techdeal star wars day edition – want a fun game to celebrate. You won’t need a gpu, but you will need a smartphone and lenovo gamepad. While it isn’t in production anymore, you can actually find it easily online for less than the release price back in november of 2017, and you can get it in time to play this weekend or next day, air it to suit up for revenge of the fifth. I’M talking about the star wars, jedi challenges by lenovo, i sure – did sign up for early access tickets to star wars, land and waited for hours to enter the cantina. But somehow i never heard about this game. Chris is probably happy because we’d be 400 bucks poorer, but before you run no, it does not cost four hundred dollars. It originally released for two hundred dollars per system, but it’s multiplayer, and now it will run you about 100 to 150 dollars. Star wars. Jedi challenges is an augmented reality or ar game made by lenovo in partnership with disney and released for the 2017 holiday season.

It originally offered lightsaber battles, holochess and strategic combat, but a 2018 update added, assuming the role of kylo, ren and ship battles, all of which incorporate canonical planets and force powers. You can choose to play for the rebellion or the empire and what lightsaber you’d like to wield. Let’S head over to wampa who has taken the box and well, we aren’t going to take it back, so we’ve asked wampa to open it and we’ve sent in a drone to see what’s inside, all right wampa seems to have finally taken more interest in opening the Package, luckily it is a very sturdy package, so we don’t think wampa will damage the devices inside. We hope all right, you’ve unwrapped it, but there’s there’s more inside.

You still need to open the box very good. Keep trying keep trying so close. There you’ve done it. So first we have our lightsaber controller.

I see you’re afraid, that’s, okay, you can pick it up. Nice and shiny looks like it’s a great quality replica. It isn’t edible. Full disclaimer, nothing in the box is edible. Go on keep going.

Ah, here’s another package. It appears to be stuck to the contents a bit but looks like it’s a good quality as well. Oh here’s, the headset, so nice and shiny, that’s upside down.

It’S disconnected! So i’m not going to do anything just yet. That’S just packing beads again, nothing in the package is edible and there’s the beacon you’ll play so the holograms know where to appear and to help your gear get calibrated with your position. Oh a box within a box, careful there’s all your connections for charging and connecting different phones to the headset and the manual looks like they gave us three different connections for all three different types of current phone ports. Nice and i believe, that’s all the parts included and all the parts we need again.

Nothing in the package is edible. Oh, i know hey wampa, i think we just saw taunton go by no, don’t take the headset and controller with you. Luckily, wampa returned it to us, so we could do our intro and oh, oh, my. He sent us a gift here ew.

I think this is a chunk of taunton, but there’s a note. I believe his return was temporary. It states wamp aboard in wampa’s cave. I think he just wants us to get it to work.

Are you guys familiar with the force trainer too, just in case i brought mine in from home to show you guys. This headgear creates holograms in the room using the same type of mirror and glass technology. That’S actually been around for a lot longer than you think, but they found ways to interact with it like you never could before, as i will be touching on in an atari 2600 flashback video. This mirrored glass technique was used in the original space invaders. Arcade game cabinets back in 1978.. Those still look awesome where the force trainer 2 uses an ipad, atop three pieces of mirrored plastic and a dark background. Jedi challenges uses a smartphone, atop, one-way mirrors and mirrored glass. It is basically immersing you in the realm of the hologram, instead of being outside the box, the hologram is in or a much larger scale of the force trainer too, with your face, pressed against the glass and you can directly interact with the hologram rather than just Think really hard about it. The only thing you need to go with this kit is a compatible smartphone. Luckily, it actually has a wide range of compatibility from any android phone, galaxy, 7 or newer to any iphone iphone 6 or newer. You will need to go to your respective app store and download the jedi challenges app once you have that downloaded. It will take you through a series of steps from staging the room appropriately, very important one.

Two setting up your lightsaber to setting up your headgear and beginning the stage of your choice so without further ado we’re gon na get into some gameplay. You see me cut that guy in half. Why is it telling me to do this? That feels stupid you’re right? I wasn’t programmed to handle this. I hit you, sir, why is the left side of my screen on fire? I think i got shot.

I won, though, but i do believe i’m injured all right so now that we got to do our lightsaber battling we’re gon na go ahead and go over to strategic battles here in just a moment. So i can show you exactly how the strategic battles are going to look when you’re playing it and how it looks on the screen. So far. I think my favorite parts is the way the planet looks up close, although the lightsaber battling was a lot of fun. Some of the shooting happens a little bit quicker than it really follows your lightsaber, but i have heard that it tends to calibrate in sync better, the more that you play it, so it should get smoother over time. So maybe it’ll get a little bit easier to deflect some of those bullets, because once they shoot faster, it’s kind of hard for it to register every little movement that you make.

But you do want to always make sure that your beacon is on the right setting and the right distance from you. It will change the image that you see drastically, especially when it comes to seeing two of your opponent and just one all right so time to move on to some strategic battles. So i decided to dress as a stormtrooper while doing this, because um aim isn’t required for this particular game, so you know trying to call all the astronauts to their little ships here get to your ship bro. So placing things is a little interesting. Sometimes, oh i placed him so he could die.

Whoops i won. Did i win, i won sweet. I would say i was better at the strategic battles than the lightsaber battles. I made it through the first two. First try and uh i’m on to the third one.

Not gon na play it for now, just for the sake of saving time, because we still have three more games to play uh, but the strategic battles are a lot of fun and it’s really cool. It’S put together really well and it all functions really really well. Actually so i’d say it tracks a little bit better than with the lightsaber battles, especially since you’re, mostly just placing turrets and new uh reinforcements. It’S a lot like any other uh battlefield strategy game, except it’s all star, wars themed, obviously, and so once you have enough troops on the ground, you get to put androids on the ground and then you get to put jedis on the ground as well.

And then you have, of course, your different turrets that level up and then now i’ve unlocked battleships to put on the battlefield and uh. Now we’re gon na move on and we’re gon na do some hollow chests. I don’t always remember all the rules of regular chess.

I do my best so we’ll see how well i play a hollow chess. Oh, i know i need to choose a tile. I don’t know how far that guy can jump.

Oh god, he has that guy trust this lady, you know what i know why she wants me to go. First, she wants to walk over here and attack me watching her. Ah, i should have moved that guy further away.

Let’S take this guy and go man. Hers crawled so far. If i go there he’s just going to be dead, so i’m going to unselect that guy yeah ha ha victory. Can you guess what time it is this time? That’S right! It’S kylo time, i’m gon na! Try that one more time here this time, i’m just gon na make the attacks, look cool all right! This is weird, and there you have it it’s a little bumpy. Getting it all set up and getting everything placed just right to get a smooth well put together. Hologram, but it’s well worth it: we’ve really only played through naboo for our short gameplay tour and review, but after seeing it up and close and enjoying all it had to offer, i’m really looking forward to seeing all the other planets. We also just had the one kit, so we haven’t checked out the two multiplayer modes, but maybe in the future.

Let us know in the comments below, if that’s content you’d be interested in seeing something else to keep in mind. Should you decide to grab one for yourself? The force trainer app was recently deleted from the apple app store. So i can no longer run my force trainer with my ipad and have had tremendous trouble finding another tablet that runs it as well, seeing as it’s not in the microsoft store, and it’s only in the google play store. It’S only on android devices, so it works on my phone and gives you a teeny, tiny hologram and not the big glorious one that it had before, meaning the app for this could be removed from the app store at any time, rendering all of your gear useless. I still think it’s an awesome experience worth the buy just be sure to play through it as soon as you get it, so you don’t miss out on the opportunity or get your money’s worth of play star wars.
