iPhone 8 Plus vs Samsung Note 8 - Battery Performance Test

Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “iPhone 8 Plus vs Samsung Note 8 – Battery Performance Test”.
Hey what’s up everyone, i hope you guys are all doing well, so the new iphone 8 plus has been out for a couple of weeks. We’Ve been actually testing it out for quite a while, and we also recently got our hands on the new note. 8 from samsung, so we can finally do a direct head head battery life performance test between these two devices to see which one comes out. On top now in terms of actual specifications, both are non-removable.

iPhone 8 Plus vs Samsung Note 8 - Battery Performance Test

The new iphone 8 plus actually has a seven percent, smaller battery life than the previous generation, seven plus so you’re. Looking at a total capacity about 26 91 milliamp hours, the samsung has a 3 300 milliamp hour battery, so a larger battery substantially. That’S for sure.

The interesting thing is both uh phones actually have the capability of being fast charged uh. The samsung actually comes with a five amp fast charger inside of the box, so you can typically get a charge from zero to a hundred percent in just around 108 minutes and within 30 to 25 minutes. You can get somewhere between 40 to 50 charge. Now the iphone 8 plus actually comes with the standard, one amp charger, and it takes quite some time to actually charge up from zero to 100 percent uh. Our experience was about 166 minutes on average with that one amp charger. But if you do decide to use a 5 amp charger from an ipad or a macbook, you can get a faster charge uh within 30 minutes.

You can typically get 50 and a full charge takes just under 120 minutes now. A big addition to the new iphones is the qi wireless charging capabilities. The samsung’s have had this feature for years, i’m actually using the samsung wireless charging pad to charge both of the iphone and the note 8, which is pretty cool. The samsung also has the capability for fast wireless charging.

If you get that specific pad and later on down the road, you can use the air power pad to charge your iphone as well. Now, both samsung and apple claim over 20 hours of 3g talk time, and you should expect to go throughout the 12-hour day without having any major hiccups with battery on both devices and that’s certainly true, based on our personal experience. Battery life is always going to fluctuate depending upon your usage profile, what apps you use, etc, etc. But what we like to do to test out the battery is just a simple video playback test. We use the vlc app on both devices to play a video at 720p, 50 brightness in airplane mode, and we basically find out on how both devices do in terms of overall runtime uh. From going to about a hundred percent charge to about zero percent charge. And here are the results over here both get a very, very similar score of 14 hours on both platform, the note 8 got a little bit more in terms of a run time about 14 hours, 48 minutes versus 14 hour 21 minutes on the 8 plus. So definitely not bad video playback performance in terms of a more cpu and gpu intensive uh base application, we’re using the gfx battery life tool. Were you running the t-rex benchmark and uh? This is not an exact comparison, because both devices have different resolutions and the videos being rendered at different resolutions, but in terms of the runtime, relatively speaking, to each device uh. The note 8 ran about an estimated battery life about 340 minutes versus a 332 minutes on the iphone 8 plus now.

In conclusion, the note 8 certainly has the better battery performance, but not by a huge margin anywhere between five uh to 12 percent. Based on our experience, and even though it has a much larger battery capacity, you’re not yielding those same results in terms of real world battery performance tests again based on our experience. That being said, the new a11 bionic chip – that’s in the new iphones, is certainly very hardware and software optimized and has incredible efficiency, because it has two uh high performance cores and four high efficiency cores. So in many cases uh, depending upon what you’re doing, you’re, definitely going to be very satisfied with the battery performance of uh, both the iphone 8 and the 8 plus, and we’re going to test out the new iphone 10 when that becomes available.

So we can do a head head comparison between the note 8, so definitely stay tuned for our channel subscribe. If you haven’t already give us a thumbs up, if you like this video thanks for watching thanks for your support and we’ll see you next time take care. .
