iPhone 15 Pro Max Review: 1 Month Later

Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “iPhone 15 Pro Max Review: 1 Month Later”.
Yo guys Travis here – and this is my review of the iPhone 15 Pro Max this year. We have five headline new features, so let’s go ahead and break those down after a month of usage and see if this phone is worth the upgrade I’ll also be making an iPhone 15 review as well so make sure to subscribe and hit the Bell icon. So don’t miss out first things. First, this video is being shot on an iPhone 15 Pro Max in 4k, 24 in cinematic mode. So let me know what you think of the quality there and when we get to the camera section I’ll break that down even further. Now, let’s get into features first things first, with the action button. Now the action button is definitely a little bit of a change, especially considering the fact that the iPhone has had a silent, mute switch since the first generation and I think, to most people if you’ve ever owned. An iPhone having that mute switch is just a second nature reflex just to put your phone in silent really quickly, and you never really even think about it. The action button replaces the mute switch with a physical button that has the ability to be changed to what is basically a shortcut to your favorite things and that could be Focus mode, camera, flashlight voice, memos accessibility, features or even a series shortcut.

Now, when you’re doing the out-of boox experience with the iPhone 15 pro and pro Max you’ll be given the choice of what you want, the action button to be and call me old school, I literally just set it to silent and never looked back, I’m sure the Functionality could be awesome, especially having a series shortcut do it if this, then that type command. But honestly, I just really appreciate the ability to silence the phone really quickly. Now next thing, with the biggest elephant in the room is USBC and we’ve been waiting for years on end for Apple to switch from lightning to USBC, and it’s finally here now, of course, this has been a long time coming, but Apple tends to stay a lot Longer on connection types than people give them credit to being. On 30 pin was from 2003 to 2012 and then from 2012 to 2023, we’ve been on Lightning couple weeks back.

I did make a video talking about all kinds of different devices and gadgets. You could connect to a phone now considering the fact that it does have USBC, and I will say it still feels a little weird plugging in a USBC cable to an iPhone instead of a lightning cable. But it is super, convenient just being able to grab my iPad charger and charge my phone or be able to use the same cable to transfer files from an SSD to be able to transfer files from my phone to my Mac. Now.

The one thing I didn’t think about is the connection itself. Lightning gives you a satisfying click when you plug it in giving you that tactile feel that you know that it’s connected, be it that your Port isn’t full of pocket. Lint and trust me, a lot of that can fit in there. If you haven’t checked in a while, USBC tends to wiggle in place a little bit and definitely does not have the same level of connection that lightning had, but I’ll definitely take all the features of USBC over lightning any day.

What I’ll, also take any day is one of these cases from today’s sponsor case coup. These are the cous shck cases for iPhone, which are available as far back as iPhone 12 kous. Shck cases have multiple material combinations Technologies all around protection from outside to inside, and also provide good grip to make sure your phone stays in your hand, and these are the cloud cush cases featuring airbag edges that have varying hardness of TPU materials that are slim yet Maintain plenty of air Cushing volume that provide shock absorption with 3 m drop protection. They all come in a variety of colors and also include anti-yellowing technology, keeping the color cleaner for longer. But honestly, one of the coolest features is the magic stand.

This magnetic ring folds out at various angles, making for an easy stand to prop up the phone in both orientations, which is perfect for placing the phone horizontally when watching a movie or playing a game and vertically. When reading cooking recipes or easily browsing social media magic stand supports mag, safe accessories by providing a very strong connection to wallets and charging plucks, which is important for making sure that those items stay safely attached for more information on these products from casu check out the Link in the video description now next thing is the camera and usually it’s the most talked about feature every year, because Apple tends to push things forward every single year with either a photo or a video feature. But this year it’s twofold now going into this year’s phone, I was expecting a bump to the telephoto camera and they delivered on this on the pr Max model.

You get a five time zoom, which is a 120 mm equivalent. Now, for those of you that are into cameras, you definitely know what a 120 mm lens looks like, but if you’re not into cameras and know nothing about that, you can definitely get a lot closer to your subject without having to physically get closer, which I appreciate Now, overall, this is a great performing lens, considering the fact that it’s not even any thicker than any of the other lenses and it’s in your pocket, but you definitely need to feed this lens a good amount of light. It is at F28 and if you are in the right light, it can hit pretty good now. One thing to consider is that this is optical zoom. So when you are in the camera app, you do have that 05, which is the ultrawide the one times, which is your main wide, a two times which is a punch in on your main wide.

And then you have your five times so three focal links and then Apple goes even further than that with giving you options in the ultrawide to go for a macro lens and then a few different custom focal links for that one times, depending on what you feel Is best now staying on the topic of camera, the main 48 megapixel one times camera is phenomenal. The 48 megapixels gives you plenty of resolution to crop and post, and I do appreciate the fact that you can shoot in heif or Heath he and not have to shoot in raw to get that 48 megapixel output. This is especially useful if you want to be able to crop in and do a lot of edits to your photo and still maintain a lot of resolution, especially considering the fact that most social media platforms don’t even post past 2 megapixels now switching to video.

By far the feature I would have never expected is the ability to shoot in log on an iPhone and to take it one step further. It’S prores log and you have the ability to record externally up to 4K 60 frames per second in prores log, with Aces color. Now, for those of you that don’t know, prores is a apple design. Codec that’s used in high-end media production.

Prores is utilized in high-end Cinema cameras such as Airy red or even the Sony Venice 2 and, in particular, the iPhone uses. Prores 422 HQ traditionally on your iPhone going as far back as iPhone 7. You would be using an HC codec HC is significantly smaller, making those files easier to transfer and upload. However, it is much more compressed than proam.

Now log coincides with this, as it is the color profile that you are shooting in, or in this case lack thereof. A color profile log does not bake in a color profile or look and allows you to do that after the footage has been shot so prores log and Asus color. All combined together make for super great looking phone footage. That really doesn’t look like phone footage.

I’Ll be the first to admit it. I am not a colorist by any means, so using log footage is a little bit more complex than what I’m used to doing, but this doesn’t take away from the fact that you could push this footage way further than you could have any other iPhone footage up. Till this point – and I think the fact that apple is giving people the option to shoot externally is definitely just going to solidify the fact that this is a camera that people are going to use and throw into their full-on Productions in music.

Videos in TV shows and in movies, because it’s that convenient, let’s talk, design and build quality, and this year’s buzzword is titanium. This year’s phone improves upon the design we’ve had basically since iPhone 12. So it’s that iPhone 4, like phone stretched out into a much larger device and then has a metal band around the edges.

This year, in particular, that metal band happens to be Titanium on the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max. I will say I really do appreciate the rounded off edges that the sides of the phone have. It doesn’t feel as sharp in the hands as the 14, 13 and 12 did, and it’s much more comfortable to hold for longer periods of time and then that titanium definitely brings a level of fit and finish that I appreciate, but on top of that makes the Phone feel a lot lighter now. This is due to the fact that the internals of the phone and the main structure of the device is a mixture of titanium and aluminum, as they showed in the keynote now this device.

In particular, I did opt for the natural titanium color, as it is the new color and honestly I really like it. It has more of a matte look than that shiny polish, that we’ve had for the last couple. Phones and I do appreciate the brushed titanium look when you look at it really closely now in the text speex. Of course, you can compare it to the older model, phones and realize that this is definitely lighter, but upon holding the phone it feels much lighter than what Apple says it is now.

It wouldn’t be an iPhone launch without some type of controversy, and this year’s was heat right after launch. There was a lot of reports coming out of people’s phones overheating and showing that temperature icon on the phone and using it while recording or using it while charging the phone was extremely hot. I never had this issue, in particular other than the fact that it did feel a little warm when charging, but I never had it overheat on me and apple identified. This issue pretty early on and released a software update for 17.0.2, which addressed it Apple, also pointed out that there were some social media apps like Facebook and Instagram that were contributing to this issue as well and updates for those apps were sent out too now, after Apple announced this update, I didn’t install it right away, just because I wanted to see if the performance was going to change after updating.

So before and after the update I ran geekbench 6 just to get an idea on CPU and GPU performance, and I was a little surprised. The scores for both CPU and GPU performance were actually higher and the phone was running cooler. So there definitely was a bug on the launch software. Now speaking of CPU and GPU, we got the A7 pro this year and it’s the first Aeries chip to be called a pro now.

The way it’s been going for the last few years. The Pro Models get the newest best chip and the standard models get last year’s Pro chip. Now, as far as performance is concerned, this is a very, very fast chip. It is a 3 nanometer processed chip, so it is more efficient and most notably Apple leaned. In pretty hard to the GPU Department, to my surprise, Apple talked quite a bit about gaming during this year’s keynote and showed off some console quality games like Resident, Evil, 4 and Resident Evil Village running on an iPhone honestly. This is super impressive, considering the fact that they also put R tracing Tech in this GPU as well, so Apple definitely seems to have some interest in gaming, and I hope that focus goes to the Mac eventually now, switching to CPU, we are getting very close to Having M1 level performance in your pocket and compared to the last few years of Apple silicon chips, the performance year over a year is very good, and, with that being said, anything I’ve thrown at this phone has performed very well now that takes us to our our Final question: should you upgrade so as far as getting an iPhone 15 Pro Max is concerned, if you’re heavily into photo and video, and you appreciate the 48 megapix Pro raw and the ability to record and log? Yes, it’s a considerable upgrade, but when I think of a normal human, that’s out there using their iPhone they’re holding on to that device for several years because it gets updates year after year after year. So if you’re on a 12 or if you’re on an 11, then it might be worth the upgrade, and I think the thing that makes it especially hard is that you could run iOS 17 going all the way back to an iPhone XS. So if you have an iPhone XS, then it’s definitely a huge upgrade for you, but it all depends on what your daily life looks like after using this phone for a month. I can definitely say that I do appreciate the upgrade, especially in the photo and video department and honestly just the weight of the device in my pocket. Every single day is just a huge thing to me if you’ve been holding on to that iPhone 11 Pro Max.

For the last couple years and your battery is starting to wear and you’re, also missing out on some features like 5G Pro motion Pro res Pro r raw and dynamic Island, it might be worth the time to upgrade. I think upgrading your phone is very subjective and some people, of course, do it every single year and some people do it every 5 years or whenever the wheels fall off their phone to the point where the glass is chipping off and it’s desperately in need of A new battery and some people upgrade every year and it’s really dependent on you. So that was my iPhone 15 Pro max review after using it for about a month, drop a comment down below whether or not you’re going to upgrade and if you’re, not what phone are you going to hold on to? Thank you guys so much for watching and have a good night. .
