Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “IOIO Android Hardware Interface”.
Uh, my name is itai, i’m originally from israel. I live in the silicon valley now in my day, job i’m a software engineer at google and in my spare time i’m doing a fun project. With software and hardware, i developed a yoyo board that allows you to very easily connect android devices to external electronics, and i have in my booth here a lot of projects around this theme of how you can use android. As the brain of your embedded. Application reactions have been very positive.
Some people have already heard of the yoyo board other people for them it’s the first interaction. So i have a couple of small demo applications here that show you uh how easy it is to use and what kind of things you might be able to do with it, so that this 2d plotter is. I actually started building it before last year’s maker faire and then made improvements for for that over the years. So it’s a pretty simple string, plotter design.
It has two pulleys here: pulling strings with stepper motors driving them and through the yoyo board. The android tablet can control these pulleys and can thus get the marker to get to any position on the paper, and i developed a couple of different algorithms for how to take real life images and convert them into vector plots that the plotter can make in this Particular example: i’m trying to approximate the original image by just a set of pseudorandom lines. It’S all one single stroke and it ends up looking very similar to the original image when viewed from a distance. The best thing about maker faire for me is the ability to meet people see how they respond to the project. They are building spark, sparking interesting conversations about technology and about the possibilities, also seeing what people don’t like about my product, what you know so any feedback is good. I get really to sense the sort of users that would use my stuff and i get to get a lot of. You know a lot of energy from the positive feedback that i’m getting.
That’S awesome. .
