Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “HTC VIVE Elite XR – Comfort, Power, Versatility… What More Could You Want?!”.
Hey everybody: it’s Ryan here with Android authority, and I’ve got one of my editors Here Andrew grush, uh Andrew and I had a chance to check out some really cool, Mr Right, not VR. Well, technically it does both that’s the cool thing about the HTC Elite. Xr is it? Is it experience that both combines mixed reality with VR, and you know it has its own built-in self-contained system for all of the gaming um and uh, but you also can still hook it up to a PC like the old school ways. You know like with the older HD Vibes does all of that. It has full capacity with all that, but the whole big gimmick or not gimmick rather but the whole you know Focus here – is the mixed reality and being able to kind of move around hands-free from your experience, uh putting the headset on Comfort, ease of use uh.
What were your thoughts on the HTC Vive? I absolutely loved my experience with it. I I mean I’m curious to see what other applications they have for the Mixed reality and how you know how we can use that for both gaming, for you know, uh more like Interactive Learning and all those use cases, but I thought it was really comfortable. I appreciated that I wasn’t tripping on wires, so it just happened to me um a couple times during this show, so that was nice now I don’t have to do all that uh the whole idea that it’s completely passed through, so you could see your whole environment In full color you can look at your phone and it’s perfectly visible, you can uh. You know you basically interact with the whole world around you, but then you have like floating objects that you can interact with when you’re wearing the headset yeah. I mean for me like, as soon as I had the headset on it felt intuitive, like you know, moving your hands around being able to interact in a digital way with a physical environment. I thought was just mind-blowing to me because I’m not used to it.
I’M not in that space regularly. Well, even yeah. Even me, who has been following space, it’s a definite upgrade from things I’ve seen in the past that have used the mixed reality concept. It just felt very natural, like you said it was easy to use the controllers. I had a lot of fun just doing little.
Things like there was a demo where we, basically, I had the control and it was in a virtual space. There was a canvas I could paint. I could paint all around. I was drawn like dogs, virtual dogs and things everywhere and just having a good old time that is, that is so cool. I I even saw a guy um kayaking, so I mean there’s, there’s Fitness applications.
There’S artistic applications, there’s tons of different things that this could be used for um. What is the what? What is the confidence in this space right now, honestly? Okay? So it’s been kind of an interesting space VR over the years like I got really into it back in 2016 or so, and then it kind of as things go. It became more of a you know, Enterprise level thing and people kind of, but that’s changing again. We have so many new headsets coming out from you know: companies like Sony, and you know we have meta and then of course, HTC obviously, which is the focus here.
So, with a brand like HTC and testing out a product like this um was there anything that you felt that they maybe needed to improve on or uh. Is this feeling like something that’s a more refined product than in years past? Oh absolutely, more fun! I mean obviously I’ve only used, you know all the early mixed reality was. It was okay, let’s leave it at that, but this felt like a whole other jump, and you know I also tried out some actual VR demos with it, and that was really cool too.
I mean obviously you’re gon na get a much better and more powerful experience when you hook it up. You know to your PC, but I was pretty pleasantly surprised by like when you actually did the real VR experiences like the graphics and all the mixed reality. It was really pretty solid, so we had a chance to check it out guys. You can check it out at some point eventually too, especially if you’re here at CES, that is the HTC Vive Elite XR, thanks for watching I’m Ryan from Android authority be kind and we’ll see you on the next one foreign .
