Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “How to save the iPhone 14 Plus”.
On paper at least the iPhone 14 plus, like should be a home, run, it’s the bigger version of I feel like affordable iPhone. We just got word that Apple has cut production of the iPhone 14 series by four percent. That’S generally not something that happens if you’ve got a success on your hand, all signs are pointing to the iPhone 14 plus not been success. Apple hoped it would be, but question at least that I was asking we’re asking around the studio did Apple make a bad phone is the reign of the iPhone over or they just missed the mark with the 14 plus. So not the iPhone 14 plus has been out for like, let’s just say two months: uh one thing is clear: this phone, it’s fine, there’s nothing offensive happening here, there’s also nothing crazy, newly Innovative amazing or any other crazy out positive adjective that I can think of.
It’S an iPhone, that’s bigger um, but is that a good thing uh, the iPhone 14 is a solid device. Apple decided to not change much with it compared to the 13, but the 13 was also a great phone. So the year over year, changes Innovation isn’t exactly like necessary. I guess, even if on paper, it’s the same basic phone, you’re still getting a good device. The iPhone 14 plus just gives you now a bigger version of that device. I much like Sir Mix-A-Lot love big screens, the bigger the better, but I also don’t like 60 hertz displays.
I am a screen, snub and I’m not afraid to admit it, especially in 2022. So for me it’s a mixed bag with the 14 plus. Once you start using the phone, you hear me say this a lot. This is fine.
The screen’s done anything to write home about it’s, certainly one of the best 60 hertz oleds you can get, but that automatically puts it below any 120 hertz display on the market. Right now, but not to say that everything stayed the same. I think the cameras are one area where Apple did make a nice change uh with the 14.. So now look for day-to-day photos.
The new main sensor in the 14 plus is not going to blow anybody’s mind. It’S also, basically the same camera that we had in the iPhone 13 Pro. Comparing it side by side with the regular 13 results were very similar. That’S no different with the 14 photos.
Come out looking like iPhone photos, but you do see a big difference with the front-facing camera. I don’t know how it took 14 generations of iPhones getting out of focus selfie, but it’s here, but I have all the cameras on this phone. It’S definitely the most noticeable bump that you’ll see inside we got an a15 processor and it’s still pulling strong uh.
This is the first year the iPhone didn’t get a number of processor bump. It’S a regular version, uh I’d love to know the behind the scenes. Reason for that I imagine supply chain something, but from an end user perspective, I don’t think it matters.
Much a15 is still a beast and the addition of the extra gpus core is that’s not going to hurt things either. My favorite thing about the iPhone 14 plus, though, is that sweet battery life Apple claimed it was the best battery life of any iPhone. Ever I’m not exactly sure, that’s the case. It’S at the very least the best iPhone battery life you can currently buy.
I’M not going back and testing every single iPhone for battery life. This is easily a day and a half phone and when you’re on the go, I’m not super appreciated uh. So, overall, this is a solid phone that is offering, I think, most things that people would want from a new device, even if all those things are mostly the same as they were last year. I think that leads to the question: why isn’t this thing selling as well as Apple, hoped, uh? Well, I think there are a few things to keep in mind first, so the 14 plus was released later than the other iPhone 14s, and it’s not a flashy flasher phone that you would necessarily line up for even pre-order. I think it’s no surprise they weren’t flying off the shelves at launch. I think another thing to remember is that sales very likely might turn around for the 14 plus holidays are almost here and that’s the time that Apple sells a lot of iPhones.
So I think it’s very possible to say that more people get the 14 plus in their hands and the height might grow and eventually make this the default iPhone for most people to buy. I remember when airpods were released. They were kind of a joke, but then holidays came around and they were the must-have item that could happen here with the 14 plus with those two things in mind. The main reason why this iPhone isn’t as exciting that the iPhone 14 is just generally a very minor update, so with the plus you’re, only getting a bigger screen, there’s not a better display. Not a new design is anything that we haven’t seen before, and it seems that size is not the deciding factor for a lot of buyers. I think Apple had hoped that it might be so nothing that I’m saying is to say that the iPhone 14 plus or any of the 14s are bad phones. In fact, a lot of them are pretty good, but they are not cheap and when you buy something expensive, you want to protect it and you’re going to want to protect your phone, no matter what iPhone 14.
You went and picked up and the best way to do it is with the bounce case from case five now listen. This case was so good. We threw it down the stairs six times and I played hacky sack with it.

I also got deals going on all the way through till Cyber Monday put a link down below, but caseify.com John Rancher. I think the price is the most obvious reason to not buy the 14 plus. It starts at 899 bucks. That is a lot of money for essentially the the base of the current generation of phones for 100 bucks more. You can get the iPhone 14 pro, which has a ton more features in the plus, so I think for a lot of people, the price isn’t worth it, and it’s close enough to the pro that’s better, to spend a little bit more plus, as people tend to Finance phones. Over a few years, the difference in monthly payments is usually just a few dollars making the pro model a much better buy.
I think, if Apple would just offer this phone for even 100 bucks less then that would make a pretty big difference or – and Tim Cook put some earmuffs on to hope. They don’t do this. They could make the pro iPhones more expensive uh. This would make the Delta between the two lines, bigger, perhaps make more people gravitate to the more affordable phones and that, even though I don’t want more intensive iPhones, it might actually happen.
Uh rumors that apple is working on an iPhone Ultra model. That would be the top end of the iPhone line if that happens, expect that it come with a price hike of some sort. It’S also rumored that that this Ultra model will be the larger of the top two end iPhones, making the plus a more affordable, large screen option, and a lot of this was just speculation and stream of Consciousness, and it’s a very similar story with the mini phones That came out the previous two years. It seems like there was demand there, it seemed like people wanted them, and then they released people gravitated towards other devices.
The 14 plus is a very solid phone, there’s just nothing exciting about it and at the price point, it’s a less compelling option compared to the Pro Models in a lot of ways. The 14 plus to me is one of the most confusing phones that they’ve put out. I can’t figure out who this phone is for and who should buy this or less expensive. 14 are the more expensive 14 pro .
