What’S up folks how’s it going, this watch hope you guys are all doing well and a few months back, we reviewed the gmax ultra from gotrax. It was an electric scooter had a lot of fun with it and we recently got a chance to review its little brother, the xr ultra from gotrax. Now, essentially, the key difference between the two is going to be top speed and range, with, obviously a smaller battery and motor you’re limited in terms of how far you can go and how fast you can travel. However, for the most part, they both share a lot of the same key features such as a large rear mounted disc brake, led headlight, inboard digital display cruise control, as well as the ability to be fully collapsible ideal for commuting and traveling purposes. They also utilize an aluminum frame construction, so the overall durability and weight capacity of the rider is the same at around 100 kilos or 220 pounds.
They also have ip54 certification for general water resistance, so you can use them in the rain and in non-ideal conditions. However, when it comes to the matter of top speed and range on the g-max you’re, looking at about 20 miles an hour top speed or 32 kilometers an hour versus about 15 and a half miles an hour top speed on the x-ray ultra or 24 kilometers an Hour and when it comes to range you’re effectively, looking at more than double the potential range on the gmax at 45 miles or 72 kilometers versus 16 miles or 25 kilometer range on the xr ultra. Now, it’s important to note that the range figures that you find out there on amazon and on the websites that they sell these scooters are completely uh in a fairy tale marketing land. They could be possible if you weigh like 130 pounds or less and are riding these scooters at the slow speed in perfect flat, ideal conditions with no wind or anything like that, but based on my experience being 180 pounds, i got on average 24 mile range on The gmax versus about 12 mile range on the xr ultra that figures to be 38 kilometers versus, on average, 20 kilometers on the xr ultra addition, we also have a 350 watt motor versus 250 watt motor on the gmax versus xr ultra respectively, and that makes a Bigger difference if you’re a little bit heavier say past 180 pounds like myself if you’re going up up hills and things like that, the g max does struggle a little bit less, although uh climbs are still possible uh for the most part on the xr ultra they’re.
Just a little bit more of a slower pace depending upon the gradient you’re going up on the xr ultra. But generally i found throughout my testing phase of the xor ultra is more than capable enough to do some short commuting distances in all sorts of terrain, and i still found it to be very peppy and responsive in all regards. Furthermore, in terms of ride comfort, both are fairly similar in practice, especially going through a city center or urban environment, where you’re, mostly dealing with sidewalks and concrete surfaces. If you’re going through some rougher terrain, uh with the larger 10 inch air inflated tires on the g-max ultra, it does make it a little bit more capable a little bit more comfortable when going through bumpy terrain, gravel and things like that.
Compared to the eight and a half inch airfield tires on the xr ultra, but the xr ultra is still relatively comfortable for the most part. Furthermore, one of the biggest advantages on the x4 ultra definitely has to be the portability factor, although both scooters have the same 43-inch wheelbase, the xr ultra weighs almost half as much at 26.4 pounds versus 46.3 pounds and that definitely has to be a huge advantage from A commuting standpoint if you’re gon na be uh taking the scooter inside buildings in the office going up steps and things like that in the collapsed position, definitely makes it a lot more convenient and a lot more attractive for an every day-to-day use perspective. Now the control and overall digital interface is very similar in terms of feature sets and capabilities that you find on most electric scooters.
These days, you have a digital readout that will give you battery indication information as well as how fast you’re going and whether your front led light is on or off now. The only real input that you have is just one single power button that you hold to turn the scooter on or off. You can press it just quickly to turn on the front led light, but that’s pretty much it in terms of actual digital control interfaces.
There is no digital padlock, so anybody can really walk up and turn on the scooter and just run off with it and unlike the gmax ultra, which has a digital lock, as well as a physical combination, lock embedded in the front forks with a retractable steel. Cable that you can tie around a bicycle lock outside you’re gon na have to jig up a way to lock up at the xr ultra if you’re gon na leave it alone in public. Beyond that, the handlebars themselves have a nice textured rubberized surface. You have an integrated brake as well as bell to alert people around you, as well as the brake on, at the left hand, side connect to the rear, mounted disc brake on the right hand, side of the handlebars. You have your throttle control, which works very similar to pretty much every other electric scooter out there and to initiate the throttle. You actually have to get it going manually by your foot.
Kick it a couple of times once you’re going, you basically initiate the throttle and the scooter will kick in it’s designed as a safety mechanism and once you’re going and you want to initiate cruise control, you go at a constant speed for about 10 seconds, with the Throttle engaged and it’ll automatically have that throttle kick in for you, so you don’t have to hold it down all the time on a long journey now choose the price point you’re, looking at about 3.99 for the xr ultra versus 7.99 on the gmax, when it’s on Sale on amazon.com, but if you look right now, you’ll find that the x4 ultra is actually quite limited in terms of its supply and you can find the xr elite for the same 399 price. There’S a couple of benefits with the elite version. You get a longer range of 18.6 theoretical miles. You also get the same top speed of 15 and a half miles an hour and an integrated led brake light, which is not available on the xr ultra. Beyond that, the gotrax lineup also includes the g3 and g4 electric scooters, which have similar capabilities as the xr series, but are typically not priced as aggressively as the xr series, so for the most bang for the dollar scooter. I would definitely look at either the xr elite or the xr ultra if you want to get your hands into the world of evie’s, kick scooters and not break the bank now.
In conclusion, i would definitely say that gotrax is doing an awesome job of being super competitive in the market of electric scooters, especially giving all the performance capabilities that you find with segways 9 bot at a fraction of the price. I’M seeing a lot more go tracks out there when i’m out there, with my cake, scooter out there in the city and sitting on less and less of the segway scooters, which might be a good thing, might be a bad thing. I have no idea, but i know that they’re definitely good value for the money and readily available on amazon. That’S why they’re so popular to begin with, i definitely have to know what you guys.
