Sally KORNBLUTH, As we all know, and as I certainly experienced in my first semester, MIT is always moving., But over the past few months the campus has felt almost serene. [ SOFT PIANO PLAYING ]. Now, with the summer fading. There’S a new energy, a steady rise in excitement., We’re about to begin a year of new discoveries and debates, new insights and innovations and new opportunities for our community to make a positive impact in the world.. Mit has always had an outsized appreciation for great ideas wherever they come from and for people with the passion and drive to take on society’s hardest problems, — people who think unconventionally and act boldly, who support and inspire each other who value collaboration and teamwork.. And if I’ve learned anything in my first eight months at MIT, it’s that this is a community of people who work almost impossibly hard yet still find time to have fun. If you’re arriving at MIT for the first time welcome. And if you’re returning to campus, welcome Back. CREW Welcome back.
