Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “For this price, I’m impressed. – OnePlus Nord Buds 2”.
Sure we all want airpods, but can you afford them? These are just sixty dollars and if you’re gon na spend just sixty dollars on some earbuds, it’s nice to get them from a brand. You recognize these are from OnePlus. They are the Nord buds too. Nor does their kind of more budget entry level uh product line.
They got Nord phones and Nord buds. Let’S see what they’re all about boxables from the bottom. That’S a mistake. Ah, there they are what else is in the box, so I’ll open those in a bit crazy. You do still get the red cord.
Even if you don’t get the red box uh. These must be extra ear tips. No one opened it, though I get the pleasure. Hey, what’s this a crazy eyes emoji, I will say they picked a good one for me because I’m crazy, simple stuff. Now, let’s get to the case. Oh God, it’s not easy to just swipe these away.
It’S kind of like a paper peel on here. It’S not a terribly premium feeling case, I would say it’s. The the lid particularly has a bit of a cheapness to it, but I do like this speckled kind of birthday cake, looking bottom um, which is reminiscent of other products that are made partially with recycled materials. Like if you’ve seen shoes like that, which I think looks cool USBC port on the back for charging as well as a button, that’s gon na be your pairing button and I press it there’s a light on the front.
That’S probably gon na light up. No okay, maybe I need to open it there. It is the hinge feels decent I’ve smacked worse, really flat kind of design on the inside. The earbuds themselves also appear to have that the speckled recycled materials. Look it almost just looks like you got a dirty earbud and then is there is? Are there speckles in the actual glossy part of the bud? Here it looks like not. That kind of looks like your bog standard almost like has a ceramic look and if I pull one of these puppies off a little grid there, your little got your little lattice typical speaker Grille, trying to keep the earwax out no indicators for left and right.
I just Chuck them in there, however, they fit. I guess you get get used to it as far as the industrial design, I’m of two minds about it. On the one hand, you have this like mixed media with the Recycled part and the non-recycle part, which makes it look kind of tacked together and I don’t know it kind of diminishes the cohesion of the piece.
But on the other hand it does look quite minimal. I, like the flatness of it when it’s in your ear, and you can’t see the glossy part. You know you can only see one half of it and that one half has a cohesive design.
So I think it probably looks pretty good like that, pretty small. Now that I figured out which way they go, I will say that this it feels like it has a pretty good seal and I’m getting a lot of passive isolation or without the ANC being on at all, and they feel pretty comfortable for the first five seconds. You know I haven’t worn these for an hour and my odd shaped ears, particularly the left ones, start hurting me well, they feel like they’re in there pretty good, let’s check out how they sound subjectively and objectively.
I have a bunch of data from the lab about how these things measured. They think it’d be weird to look at that without listening to them myself a little bit first, so I’m gon na do that. Now, let’s get these paired, I have a OnePlus phone with like one percent battery thanks Linus, just joking, it’s 35, because the Charger’s so fast, I’m in a Destiny’s Child kind of way right now, holy cow of the bass, that’s overcooked! For sure this song is all just acapella, a nice women’s voices and then it’s like boom and that’s fine for r b.
But what happens when I go to like a metal song? Master of Puppets is good and fast, so the bass is kind of manifesting more. As like, a really thumpy Kick Drum and less of a big Bassy boom kind of thing, although that makes me want to listen to some chili peppers, you know fleas slapping the base yeah in this track. The base is really just like shooting shooting at your eardrums. All right, I can predict what the graphs are gon na look like here, they are so first up, we have a basic frequency response graph and you can see that the bass is definitely pumped up.
It’S gon na be great for bass, heads EDM fans. Maybe I want a flat frequency response curve um. This is pretty much there when it comes to the mids in trouble. It’S pretty nice.
This next bit of data. I have applies to the different presets that come loaded into the app which we’ll look at in a second. The first one is a bass boost which is, as you can see, just more of the same then there’s bold, which cranks up the treble just a little bit and serenade, which does that even harder, then there’s active noise canceling, which these earphones do have you can See the green line is with ANC on red, is with it off and then the white is just. If you didn’t have the earphones at all: that’s the noise you’ll be hearing, and so the lower the line, the quieter it is.
You can see, though, that the ANC actually does produce a noise floor, there’s a little bit of a hiss whether or not it bothers. You is up to you. Let’S see if it bothers me, oh, the chili peppers are still going they’re like 55., so the anc’s on now and the music’s playing, and it doesn’t really sound worse, but I bet I cannotice the hiss. If I pause the music, I can’t really notice it. I’M not like lying in bed right now, but oh wait. I cannotice it now.
I thought that was just my own head and blood uh, but no there. It is with music playing didn’t notice that so decent performance 460 bucks, especially in the mid and treble and if you’re, into a lot of bass, then that could be great value for you. Now, let’s get into the other aspects, I can make or break an earphone. Can we have multiple like? Can I name it custom one confirm call that custom two confirm there: they are excellent bass. Wave dynamically boosts the bass to deliver deep bass with Clarity and Fidelity. I believe this is a more algorithmic type thing strong and weak.
Let’S try that out all right. I’Ll put this on super weak super strong, oh yeah. It’S there’s a little bit of latency before it pops in but holy it’s like bad levels of thumpy.
Now this must have fly to a kind of a wide swath of bass frequencies, because you can hear like not only like the kick drum, for example, or the bass guitar getting jacked up, but also just a general feeling of fullness or emptiness. When you put it down to weak, so I think it applies to at least 100 Hertz a base, probably maybe even up to like 250.. This bass wave thing is kind of weird.
Let me read you what they say: it compensates for weak base pitches and only slightly for strong bass. That makes me think that it almost brings bass to like a certain level or within a song, it’s just bringing the bass up to like a ceiling. So it’s more consistently high. That would be weird which lets you enjoy.
Top quality of voice calls your favorite playlist, or it can be the volume adjuster for your go-to game. Why would they say that it’s bizarre another thing uh, just while we’re on it is. I took these out of my ears, the music continued to play. They don’t have the auto pause, all right, let’s get out of here.
Let’S check out the Interfaith, I think there’s a little feedback noise when you hit it yeah, there’s a little tick and there’s a tick. When you pause it too, you can’t hear that second one very well, because you know music’s playing when you press it. Oh, it just goes between transparency and noise cancellation. Interesting, oh here it is earbud controls its own tab left and right.
I can make dang it they’re not going to give me as much customization as I want on the single tap I can make it do nothing or I can make it play and pause on the double tap I can make it do nothing or play pause. Previous next Voice Assistant game mode, so I’m guessing that right now double tap is next on this earbud there’s no option to make it do volume, which is annoying. Interestingly, there’s actually two types of touch and hold: there’s your regular touch and hold, which takes like three seconds and switches between the ANC and transparency.
Oh, this is weird: oh sweet. They do it like a checkbox thing. Yes, you can make it so it’s just through all three of the ANC transparency and nothing uh, but the other interesting thing is: there’s a longer touch and hold which is by default, set to nothing, but you can set it to switch devices that could be pretty Cool in my experience, those um those features where it’s like you can pair your earphones to your laptop and your phone it’ll intelligently.
Switch between them has never literally never ever worked for me. So it’s cool that you can actually bind that to a button. I still wouldn’t expect it to work. I give it a B plus you. You can customize some things, but they don’t give you total control and there’s no Auto pause as far as fit. They feel very in there.
You can definitely work out with these things. You can headband with these things. They are ip55 rated, which is better than normal. Your typical Cheapo earphone is going to give you ipx4 the X, meaning that they didn’t even rate the dust protection and the four meaning it’s good for like splashes and sweat, but five five is better God.
These just keep turning back on, put them away. Go we’ll put him away in this case, which can give you 27 hours of battery life, purportedly the buds themselves five hours now these figures are with ANC on and using the Kodak AAC. It also supports you know the regular codec. What’S that called like SBC, or something like that that every Bluetooth, literally everything ever, has there’s another figure, they give you, which is a little more nebulous to me. It is in 10 minutes of charging, you can get five hours, but they don’t really specify what the five hours is.
I think it means five hours of calls. The other thing is that they kind of imply that the fast charging not only applies to just fast charging the case and then the case having to slowly charge the buds but actually applies to both the case and the buds, which is super cool. If I’m reading that right, that’s a cool feature next, I want to check out the mic quality during calls because they say they use two microphones and some AI algorithms to remove a bunch of noise.

So how was it guys? It sounds. Okay, as far as the quality of the ANC, I think it’s okay. I did not find that there was a lot of pressure on my ears with the ANC now there’s no tuning ability with it like you can find some other apps and I’m sure it’s not as good as what the airpods have these days, which is crazy, like These probably aren’t going to help you very much with babies crying so final thoughts. I think you could do worse than this for the price.
I think you could do worse than this and pay more there’s a couple features that are missing, but overall you’re getting so much in these things. These days that I think five years ago, wasn’t possible, like the quality, all the features, the A and C all that for 60 bucks man pretty good. I don’t hate these thanks for watching guys.
