FlexEnable’s flexible display

FlexEnable's flexible display

Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “FlexEnable’s flexible display”.
Okay, it’s James with the verge – and I am here at Mobile World Congress looking at a flexible, oh LCD screen. Now this is a screen made by a company named flex, enable they don’t make any consumer products, so this isn’t a workable phone. This is just a sort of prototype running a demo here which should have some different screens coming up, but they’re not so. This is a based on plastic transistor technology. This means you can curve it around your wrist, but you can’t really flex it back and forth. You can’t fold it and open it up, like you, maybe would, with some of the prototype smartphones, you’ve seen from Samsung now flexible screen technology. Quite a lot of different companies are coming out with this at the moment.

FlexEnable's flexible display

Earlier this year at CES we saw an 18 inch flexible display from LG that could be rolled up like a newspaper. So this is an LCD, but to get real flexibility that you can kind of bend and flex, and maybe even fold me to move to. Oh le d, now that’s going to take a bit longer but flex enable the company behind it say this is very near to working and they could get it onto a product within 18 months for more, you can check out the verge comm or subscribe to our Youtube channel at youtube.com forward slash Virg .
