Ericka Basile at the World Maker Faire New York 2013

Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Ericka Basile at the World Maker Faire New York 2013”.
My name is Erica Bastille a and I work with the grommet, the grommet, where an e-commerce site we’re actually launch platform. We help people amplify their story, the products that we sell actually have a lot of meaning behind them and the buyers that come to our website to buy the product. They want to know the story behind the product. They want to know who made this so why? I’M here at maker faire, and what I’m talking to the people about, is actually what happens after crowdfunding after they’ve raised a lot of money. What are the next steps they might want to be ready for and to think about? Some of the mistakes they make is they’re not really ready.

After the honeymoon phase and they’ve gotten a lot of press they’re not ready. How do they keep that momentum going? How do they handle all the sales calls coming in? How do they ship out? They thought it was just a hundred boxes a month, but now they’re having to ship out ten thousand boxes a month, logistics if they’re shipping out of their garage, it’s not a long-term plan and they might as well start getting bids and evaluations from different logistics companies. Now so that whenever they have to move they’re ready and they kind of take it off their plate, another thing is: maybe hire a sales team, because if you’re, the inventor you’re, really probably a product person and not a salesperson, so you’re going to want to have Somebody who can really move the ball and keep the ball rolling for you with the grommet are our core business is. We are a launch platform, we sell products online and we help amplify the story and so company that has a product, that’s undiscovered and really unique. We have a production team that does a video for them. We do photography, we do content and every day we launched one new amazing product on our site. It’S a really exciting time being here at maker faire and the whole maker movement. It is becoming a mainstream word that we use these makers they’re like the 3d movement, where you can build things at home, or you can have your own robot and builder me who doesn’t want to do that? That’S the fun and just walk it around.

I feel the vibe and it’s real, passionate and I think these makers are inspiring to all of us. .
