Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “DIY Hacks & How To’s: Sound Effect Desk Bell”.
In this project, I’m going to show you how you can modify a desk belt so that it plays sound effects. The first thing that you need for this project is a sound module. This can be any small circuit that plays music or sound effects. Old toys are usually a good place to find one.
Ideally, you want something that keeps playing the full sound clip even after you release the play button that way it will still work when people just tap the bell start by opening up the housing, then unscrew, the individual parts, if any of the parts are glued in Place use a sharp knife to carefully cut around the outside edge and gently pry it loose with a screwdriver. Next, we need to make the unit a little smaller so that it can fit inside the belt. The original battery pack is much too large, so I replaced it with a single 3-volt lithium button cell battery to connect it.
I just held the wires up to each side of the battery and wrapped it in tape. I also removed the power switch. I cut the wires from the circuit board and I started the terminals of the power switch together so that the circuit is always on next. We need to remove the striker from the bell. I was able to just pry it out with a small screwdriver. This gives us access to the bottom side of the button to make it easier for the button to press the place which I glued, a small rectangle of scrap plastic to the bottom of the button.
Then I glued the play switch to an adjacent wall. Whenever the button is pressed, it will push down on the play, switch and activate the sound effects. Now you just need to secure the rest of the parts to the inside of the bell, be careful to ensure that none of the parts stick out below the bottom of the housing and your sound effect desk bell is complete. Now just set up the bell on a desk or countertop and enjoy the funny reactions that people make when they try to ring the bell, thanks for watching and check back soon for more DIY hacks and a tubes .
