Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “DiResta: Buck Knife Auto Conversion”.
Shh you. I started this project that very ambitious. I knew that I was going to sort of uncharted territories. I never took a part of folding knife.
I never tried to make a folding knife and when I got the spring I was like wow, I’m kind of halfway there. Literally I got the spring right. It works really good, but since that last take the switch started to fail, I learned a couple of important lessons that I can’t really trust brass to carry that axle and that lever needs to really be tool.
Steel. I made it out of a soft steel. I try to harden it. It didn’t work and then that actually, that button sort of gave up on me, here’s that button it broke. It literally broke right along the axle. So I started to make one of the tools, steel and then I realized the brass. Just wasn’t going to be strong enough to hold it, so people often ask do I have a fail in my videos and here’s a perfect example. I could have taken a couple more days, but I wanted to just show you my learning lesson here. Here’S a really good one that I bought, and that was my inspiration to try and do this, but now I’m that much smarter, so the next time. I attempt this I’m going to dig into it with some different materials and the lessons I learned here.
