Cooler Master MWE 650w Power Supply — 80+ Gold Efficiency

Cooler Master MWE 650w Power Supply — 80+ Gold Efficiency

Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Cooler Master MWE 650w Power Supply — 80+ Gold Efficiency”.
Hello and welcome to tech deals the power supply unboxing that you actually probably should buy, at least if you’re, building a reasonably decent computer in 2021, when this is being filmed. We recently did a build with this 500 watt, 80 plus bronze non-modular power supply and it’s a lovely unit for an i3 i5 ryzen 3 ryzen 5 apu based system budget based system, something down towards the bottom end of things, also, a great power supply if you’re Upgrading an oem system, dell, optiplex, acer, spire, lenovo, hp, etc, great great sort of unit 50 or so for an 85 plus percent efficient power supply. Then we’ve recently unboxed the monster 1 000 watt, 80 plus platinum for stupid levels of money. It’S cool! It’S neat we’ll do a build with it. Actually, by the time you watch this, we probably already have done a build with it, but that’s new to here and there should you buy it.

Probably not this, on the other hand, is the sweet spot, 80 plus gold in this particular case 90 power efficient. That’S not bad! That’S going to vary a bit based on whether you’re at 110 or 100 uh 240 volts, and it’s also going to base uh whether you’re pulling more than 80 of its power. That is available or whether or not you’re more in the middle power band. But generally about 90 power efficient available in 650, 750, 850 and even a thousand watts, although most of you really don’t need a thousand watts nice as it is, but i do think you need more than 650.

So why are we unboxing a 650? You ask great question, because it’s the one i have you should buy the 850.. Here’S why this will run an i7 or ryzen 7 with an rx 6800. Maybe a 6800 xt, an rtx 3060 ti 3070 without any issues whatsoever and to a reasonable extent. It would even run an i9 or an rtx 3080ti or a ryzen 9 or an rx 6900 xt, but it’s kind of pushing it for both.

Furthermore, when i’m recording this unboxing, it is 100 for the 650 watt version and 120, at least in the united states, for the 850 watt version. That would be the dumbest twenty dollars you could ever save if you’re building anything remotely nest needing this sort of power supply and the reason is you may or may not need it when you first put your machine together, but do you want the ability to change Your parts in the future – maybe you build a ryzen 9 5900x today with an rx 6800 xt. I, like that, build great build a wonderful graphics card 16 gigs of vram 12 course, 24 thread cpu, put 32 or 64 gigs of ram in a couple of terabytes of nvme storage on it, and you have got yourself a beast of a machine, at least until Rdna 3 comes out because the current rumors are rdna3 will be 50 faster than our dna 2.

So that’s always a thing, but what if it requires more power? What if you need an extra 100 watts of power, because you’re going to a higher end video card? Next time, you’re going to rip apart, your computer undo all of your cabling, your motherboard, your eps power to your cpu sata cables. Everything else take apart. Your machine go buy a new power supply because you wanted to save twenty dollars today on a machine that’ll easily cost you two grand yeah, don’t do that so by the 850 watt version it will be linked down in the video description below.

But, alas, i don’t have one further disclaimer. I’Ve had this for a while cooler master sent this to me longer ago than i should have done something with it, but i didn’t. There are now version two versions of this that are more efficient, run a little bit.

Cooler are a little bit quieter and are the prices that i am referencing in this article and it will be what’s linked down below. There’S no need to buy the first version. They are otherwise very similar in terms of cables.

Connectors external size overall features. It’S just the v2 is a refreshed version. That is better.

I just don’t have a v2. So we’re doing this. Just let’s all play the pretend game.

Shall we? Okay? I have talked nearly enough and if our wonderful video editor has managed to stuff the intro in here somewhere, great or maybe we just won’t – have an intro heavens above maybe he puts it at the very beginning, although i don’t like those i usually like cold opens. Now i have not used this. I have not opened it, but we are going to do that right now, 80, plus gold, fully modular sweet five year, warranty make it yours.

I have used many many cooler master power supplies in the past. We’Ve done probably at least five builds with cooler master power supplies. I still have builds to this day.

We did one in 2017, with one of their 750 watt, 80 plus gold power supplies. I believe it predated this one. It was the v gold model. I mean every year or two they come out with a slightly revised version.

We still have that machine that power supply is still solid and it still is running really nice. Now we’ve upgraded it, but we do have several machines that have several year old cooler, master power supplies and they work fine. Okay. I am not going to read any of this to you, because i did that when i unboxed a thousand watt – and, let’s be honest, it was funny the first time it’s less funny, the second time i will file this in the very important round file.

That is where that belongs now. Unfortunately, this does not include the very nice velcro bag that holds your cables, that the thousand watt platinum came with and that you know what even though cooler master sent me this i’m gon na be blunt and say it’s kind of cheap. They should have provided a velcro bag, evga and corsair in their gold power supplies at this price range provide a velcro bag. Now, having said that, this is not a v2 for all.

I know the v2s come with a velcro back, i don’t know uh power, cable, a really. That is just a. Is it just me or does that feel, huh, okay and then we’ve got the 24 pin atx. Now i do like this.

I do like the armor and the meth, the mesh shielding that is around this. This has a really good feel to it. This that’s tough, that’s not going anywhere, but it’s flexible. You can see it’s nice and bendy. So that’s nice! The cooler master do better this. This is really oh, we’ll take this out. It is a plastic bag. You know it is a plastic bag and, to be completely honest, it doesn’t matter the nice fabric bags that some power supplies come in.

They don’t really do anything for you, and once you build the machine, it doesn’t really matter, but it’s always nice. Now. This has a 120 millimeter uh hydrodynamic bearing fan instead of a fluid dynamic.

Bearing fan. What is the difference between a hydrodynamic bearing fan and a fluid dynamic? Bearing fan the name as far as i know, they are pretty much. The same feel free to correct to me. If i am wrong in the comment section below it boosts engagement in any case uh, it’s a premium van uh, it’s a very nice premium fan, it should be very. Very silent. You’Ve got, of course, a physical on off switch here, which you would expect this provides.

649 649.2 watts on the 12 volt rail, which is all of it and i’ll put this on the overhead camera. You can see. We’Ve got the various connectors here now. It is worth noting that this does not have as many connectors as the higher end units does. It should be enough for most people but, as i said, you should definitely get the uh the 850 watt version. This label isn’t too bad right here, but this isn’t probably what you’re hoping to be looking at and, of course, you have to turn it over this. If this is going um, if the power plug is going to the back of your case and then the fan is on the bottom, uh sucking air into the power supply and blowing out the back. This is what you’ll see assuming you don’t have a shroud that completely covers it: mwe gold, there’s, no gaudy, yellow or anything else. There that’s pretty nice! Now i will say that this does have four pci express power: connectors, six plus two, so it’ll drive any current video card, including the ridiculous rtx 3080 and 3090 cards, with three eight pin connectors and even some of the uh custom cooled. Rx 6900 xts are also going to have three eight pin connectors, so you can’t run two of them, but if you were going to do that well, a thousand watt platinum power supply is probably in your future, but for any single video card this will do or The 850 watt version will do. This has been a short and sweet unboxing, which is really just an excuse to talk about what kind of power supply you should buy for what kind of build, and hopefully that’s, informative, helpful and useful to some of you.

I will use this in a build. I don’t have any confidence issues with using cooler master power supplies. As i said, we’ve got multiple builds with them already we’re doing one with a thousand watt over here shortly. This will get put into something i don’t know what, but you know what it’ll go back on the shelf and it’ll be in reserve for when i need a power supply like this video, if you like it share it with your friends, if you love it remember To subscribe to the website with a big, huge red button directly below questions, comments, thoughts, feedback suggestions, you know where the comments section is: please use it.
