Controlled Chaos: An Edible Virtual Reality Headset For Your Phone

Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Controlled Chaos: An Edible Virtual Reality Headset For Your Phone”.
Before i explain what we’re building today, i need to explain how we came up with the idea, because it’s ridiculous and it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. We were in a company meeting. All the editors were discussing what was going to go into our virtual reality issue of the magazine. One editor said: wouldn’t it be cool if we had customizable or editable, google cardboard templates and somebody else mishearing him said edible google cardboard, that sounds awesome. Well, of course we couldn’t let it die.

So i present to you edible google cardboard, so i took this idea and i decided i was going to do it. I ran to the store. I picked up, some graham crackers and some icing. I figured if it was gon na be edible. It might as well be something that tastes good, and i set some rules for myself.

One the entire thing had to be edible, except for the lenses i didn’t want to cut any corners. I didn’t want to use hot glue and cheat and make it just look edible. I wanted it to be the real deal, so what i did is entirely made of graham crackers icing and the lenses.

The second rule was it had to work all the distances needed to be correct. The spacing needed to be correct. I needed to be able to look through it, see the google cardboard app on my phone in focus pop the lenses out and be able to eat it.

So here it is. This is the edible google cardboard all completed? This is actually the second one i built the first one i built completely fell apart whenever i picked it up the first time. It was really sad, so i had to build it a little stronger, a little more robust. This is how it works. You load up.

Some kind of content that you can view in google cardboard: this is a 360 image. I don’t know if you can see that it’s moving around there as i move around the camera, you slide the camera into place and you look at your content and look around and it works perfectly. Everything is in focus i’ll turn it around here, so that you can get a view to see that it actually works. The lenses are a little bit dirty, but it works perfectly fine. Now remember: i had two rules i set for myself. It had to work and it had to be completely editable. I’Ve shown you that it works, and now i’ll show you that it is completely edible, except for the lenses here we go and there you go.

All that’s left. Are a couple of lenses. See you next time you .
