Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Best Tech of the Year – 2018”.
What is up folks how’s it going this watch hope you guys are all doing well and hope. You guys had an awesome 2018.. I want to talk about some of my favorite tech of the year now, although it was pretty lackluster in terms of innovation and new kind of novel ideas from the technology industry this year there was still some stuff that i really liked and enjoy using, and i Want to talk about some of my favorite products of 2018.. Firstly, let’s talk about flying camera platforms and if you want the best video quality available right now and most your consumer drones, then i would definitely pick the dji mavic 2 pro now. The zoom edition is also fairly good, but if you want absolutely the best video quality, you definitely want to pick the pro it has that one inch cmos sensor designed by hasselblad 4k video at 60 fps, decent low-light performance and a 10-bit hdr video capabilities making it The best compact foldable drone for aerial photography now funny enough with the introduction of the mavic 2 pro it pretty much makes the phantom series obsolete.
In my opinion, i really wouldn’t see why you want to go for the phantom series when you have something like the zoom and the pro available right now from dji and with the 8 kilometer range 31 minute battery life and omnidirectional obstacle avoidance system. Dji is going to have a very hard time trying to make a better drone than what we have over here now. Next, let’s talk about my favorite smartphone and that has to be the google pixel 3 xl. Now the pixel 3 xl and the pixel 3 shows that you don’t need to have a dual camera configuration to take great photos and videos with the incredible low light performance in night sight mode.
Not only does it beat every other smartphone camera out there in terms of clarity, sharpness and overall color rendition, but it even can stack up against dedicated video cameras such as the panasonic gh5, which cost thousands of dollars more check out. The video of our comparison of the pixel 3 versus the gh5, if you haven’t done so already, and to see for yourself what a smartphone can do in 2018. Furthermore, for some alternative options, the best budget oriented smartphone for under 300 definitely has to be the xiaomi poco phone f1. Pretty much has most of the internal hardware capabilities of most of your premium grade: android smartphone, but at half or a quarter. The price of what most of these high-end smartphones go for so definitely check that out and uh for the best iphone definitely has to be the iphone 10r. It is reasonably priced relative to the other, 10s and 10s max.
It has a decent, a display, a better battery life and again a pretty solid camera as well. So, if you’re looking for a new iphone, my pick is definitely the iphone 10r. Now continuing for 2018 wasn’t really a year of the smartwatch. In fact, most of the smartwatches took a backseat to smartphones this year, with the exception of the apple watch series 4..
Now not only does the series 4 have the best integration, design and feature set of all the other smart watches that we encountered this year, but perhaps, more importantly, with the built-in ekg sensor. There’S actually been some cases since the release of this feature where people have taken a reading and had symptoms of arterial, fibrillation or irregular heartbeats went to the hospital and doctors confirmed that analysis that the watch made. So in certain situations the apple watch could potentially save your life, but that’s obviously an extreme example, but we can’t say that for other smart watches available right now, but my prediction is in 2019, we’re going to see a lot more smart watches with ekg sensors going Forward now, another big trend of the year was definitely ultra tablets with stuff like the surface pro 6 pixel slate and, more importantly, the ipad pro and the new ipad pro.
In my opinion, it has probably the best display i’ve ever experienced on any mobile device hands down. The 12.9 inch version, particularly is super immersive with the ultra thin bezels, and it’s probably the prettiest piece of technology we’ve encountered in 2018. Moreover, with the a12 bionic chip, the ipad pro is probably the most powerful ultra tablet available, certainly more powerful than most of the variants of the surface pro 6 and a lot more powerful than even something like the macbook air, which is a heavily underpowered. And to really get the same amount of performance that we’re getting with the a12x you’re, probably gon na, have to buy a mid to higher end range of the macbook pro now. That being said, one major downside to the pro is that you’re still limited to the options available in the ios platform. So the interface in my opinion is honestly limiting your maximum productivity and capabilities, and although the magnetically latching, pencil and keyboard are great tools and accessories for artists and writers, but ultimately the touch screen, form factor and the ios integration is really limiting the ipad pro to Be a true laptop killer and a replacement.
That’S why a lot of people still prefer something like the surface pro 6, which has an integrated keyboard attachment with a track pad and plus you can hook up an external mouse and since it’s running the full windows operating system, it’s still a lot more capable now. For me, personally, if i had to pick an ultra tablet, i would still go with the ipad pro, even given its ios limitations that gorgeous display and the internal capabilities has a lot of potential, especially going forward into 2019.. Now the last piece of tech i want to talk about actually came out late 2017, but most people, including myself, actually got to use it in early 2018 and that’s intel optane.
Now, as long as you’re running a relatively modern intel chipset with the optane integration, pc builders actually get a new way to solve their storage solution problems. For many years, most people just get an ssd install their operating system and their software on there and then use a mechanical hard drive for all their long-term storage. Now you can use a large capacity mechanical hard drive in conjunction with the intel optane memory. You basically have the speed and performance of the ssd, but with any of the costs related to a large capacity. Ssd drive uh, but with the same performance and none of the reliability concerns of running multiple hard drives so uh definitely something novel, a new idea and certainly a new piece of technology in the pc building world. That is definitely needed in 2018.
